Perspective on the High Housing Prices in Shenzhen from the aspect of Economic Information Management
This article uses the systematic analysis method of economic information management to comprehensively analyze the event of soaring house prices in Shenzhen around the Spring Festival in 2016 from three aspects: market supply, government management, and consumers, and points out that this phenomenon is a combination of multiple factors. As a result, and to some extent, it caused the loss of talent in Shenzhen. Finally, the article proposes measures and enlightenment to solve this problem
Perspective Taking Building Positive Interpersonal Connections and Trustworthiness One Interaction at a Time
There is growing interest in the role of perspective taking in organizations. Perspective taking has been linked to enhanced interpersonal understanding and the strengthening of social bonds. In this chapter, I integrate research from sociology, communications, and psychology to provide insight into why, when, and how perspective taking facilitates the relational resources of positive connections and trustworthy actions. I introduce the importance of a three-dimensional view of perspective taking for building relational resources and present data validating this conceptualization. I conclude with directions for future research
An Existential Perspective on Addiction Treatment: A Logic-based therapy case study
In this essay I argue that a comprehensive understanding of addiction and its treatment should include an existential perspective. I provide a brief overview of an existential perspective of addiction and recovery, which will contextualize the remainder of the essay. I then present a case study of how the six-step philosophical practice method of Logic-Based Therapy can assist with issues that often arise in addiction treatment framed through an existential perspective
Part I. The Cosmological Vacuum from a Topological Perspective
This article examines how the physical presence of field energy and
particulate matter can be interpreted in terms of the topological properties of
space-time. The theory is developed in terms of vector and matrix equations of
exterior differential systems, which are not constrained by tensor
diffeomorphic equivalences. The first postulate defines the field properties (a
vector space continuum) of the Cosmological Vacuum in terms of matrices of
basis functions that map exact differentials into neighborhoods of exterior
differential 1-forms (potentials). The second postulate requires that the field
equations must satisfy the First Law of Thermodynamics dynamically created in
terms of the Lie differential with respect to a process direction field acting
on the exterior differential forms that encode the thermodynamic system. The
vector space of infinitesimals need not be global and its compliment is used to
define particle properties as topological defects embedded in the field vector
space. The potentials, as exterior differential 1-forms, are not (necessarily)
uniquely integrable: the fibers can be twisted, leading to possible Chiral
matrix arrays of certain 3-forms defined as Topological Torsion and Topological
Spin. A significant result demonstrates how the coefficients of Affine Torsion
are related to the concept of Field excitations (mass and charge); another
demonstrates how thermodynamic evolution can describe the emergence of
topological defects in the physical vacuum.Comment: 70 pages, 5 figure
Building and Rebuilding Trust: Why Perspective Taking Matters
[Excerpt] There is growing interest surrounding the function of perspective taking in social interactions and organizational life. In this chapter, I examine the role of perspective taking in trust building and trust repair. Whereas some researchers focus on the ability of perspective taking to elicit sympathy, concern, and cooperative behavior (Batson, Turk, Shaw, & Klein, 1995; Parker, Atkins, & Axtell, 2008; Parker & Axtell, 2001), others focus on the strategic impact of perspective taking (Epley, Caruso, & Bazerman, 2006; Galinsky, Maddux, Gilin & White, 2008; Galinsky & Mussweiler, 2001). I build on both streams of research by examining work that connects perspective taking to trustworthy, cooperative behavior and by delineating how the proactive (or more strategic) aspects of perspective taking can generate and repair trust
Phenomenology of Philosophy of Science: OPERA data
I observe that, as the physics side of the OPERA-anomaly story is apparently
unfolding, there can still be motivation for philosophy of science to analyze
the six months of madness physicists spent chasing the dream of a new
fundamental-physics revolution. I here mainly report data on studies of the
OPERA anomaly that could be relevant for analyses from the perspective of
phenomenology of philosophy of science. Most of what I report is an insider's
perspective on the debate that evolved from the original announcement by the
OPERA collaboration of evidence of superluminal neutrinos. I also sketch out,
from a broader perspective, some of the objectives I view as achievable for the
phenomenology of philosophy of science.Comment: 13 pages, LaTe
The Perspective and Perspective-Transcending Dimensions of Consciousness and Its Double-Aboutness Character: Bridging Searle and Zhuang Zi
What I intend to do here are closely related three things. First, in response to Searle’s “reply” comments on my previous article “Searle, Zhuang Zi, and Transcendental Perspectivism”, I will clarify and further elaborate one of the central points concerning the “perspective” dimension and “perspective-transcending” dimension of consciousness there. Second, more substantially, I will strengthen my point by explaining the “double-aboutness” character of consciousness which is intrinsically related to the foregoing two dimensions of consciousness concerning its “hooking-up-to-objects” capacity; through a semantic-ascent strategy, I will also explain how the point has substantial theoretic implications for exploring the issue of how the cross-perspective engagement is possible. Third, I will explain how bridging Searle’s and Zhuang Zi’s resources in view of the double-aboutness character of consciousness can contribute to our understanding and treatment of the foregoing issue
Folktales of International Justice
When Laura Dickinson asked me to participate on this panel, she very nicely said that she hoped I could bring a different perspective to the discussion. I thought I knew what she meant. The other panelists share a profound knowledge of how international criminal-law institutions work. My different perspective would therefore be the perspective of abject ignorance.
Taking comfort from the Socratic dictum that there is wisdom in knowing what you do not know, I accepted the invitation because it gives me the opportunity to pose questions rather than proposing answers. I will raise my questions by examining some stories - what the late Robert Cover called Folktales of Justice - about the nature of legal institutions, in order to tease out some understanding of their aims. It is, after all, folktales and myths (even more than arguments) that reflect the moral intuitions that stand at the base of all legal institutions
Model-based Cognitive Neuroscience: Multifield Mechanistic Integration in Practice
Autonomist accounts of cognitive science suggest that cognitive model building and theory construction (can or should) proceed independently of findings in neuroscience. Common functionalist justifications of autonomy rely on there being relatively few constraints between neural structure and cognitive function (e.g., Weiskopf, 2011). In contrast, an integrative mechanistic perspective stresses the mutual constraining of structure and function (e.g., Piccinini & Craver, 2011; Povich, 2015). In this paper, I show how model-based cognitive neuroscience (MBCN) epitomizes the integrative mechanistic perspective and concentrates the most revolutionary elements of the cognitive neuroscience revolution (Boone & Piccinini, 2016). I also show how the prominent subset account of functional realization supports the integrative mechanistic perspective I take on MBCN and use it to clarify the intralevel and interlevel components of integration
