West Bloomington Neighborhood Plan: Roots. Pride. Vision.

Our neighborhoods, Olde Towne and Gridley, Allin and Prickett (GAP), are long-established areas of Bloomington located directly west of downtown along Market Street. Our area is home to historic housing and long-standing churches, social service agencies and small businesses. In 2007, community and business organizations representing the public, private and nonprofit sectors started discussing the challenges confronting GAP and Olde Towne and the steps that could be taken to revitalize our community. This area was chosen as a target of study for a variety of reasons. First, the City’s Comprehensive Plan identified the Westside as an area of concern and one in need of intervention. Second, a number of organizations had highlighted the real need to provide assistance and support to these neighborhoods. Third and finally, this area faces many unique challenges compared to the rest of the city. As these conversations evolved into a more formal process, we realized that we must channel our energy into action to realize positive change. We formed the West Bloomington Task Force and hired a consultant, Teska Associates, Inc. to facilitate a planning process to achieve comprehensive community development

This article is intended to complement the present state of knowledge on the lime production conducted in the area covered by the settlement of the Wielbark culture in the earlier stage of its development. The article includes a review of available evidence of such a production, reflected within a settlement by the presence of a lime kilns. The article presents the history and current developments in the studies of the Pre-Roman Iron Age in Wielkopolska. As it has been shown, there were three cultures, namely the Pomeranian, Przeworsk and Jastorf, which significantly influenced the processes of shaping of the population inhabiting the region at the early stages of the discussed period. It has been also emphasised that there has been currently observed insufficiency of sources, and that there is need for further research on the issues discussed

Ceramika kultury przeworskiej z młodszego okresu przedrzymskiego w Wielkopolsce w aspekcie szerokopłaszczyznowych ratowniczych badań archeologicznych

Die Anzahl der in die jüngere vorrömische Eisenzeit datierten Siedlungsfundstellen der Przeworsk-Kultur, die bei den großflächigen Rettungsgrabungen in Wielkopolska (Autobahn A2, Gasleitungen Wolsztyn-Kościan u. Gustorzyn-Odolanów sowie die Schnellstraße S5) entdeckt worden sind, ist bescheiden. Anhand der Analyse des geborgenen keramischen Materials sind vier Basistypen von Gefäßen ausgesondert worden. Hinsichtlich der Technologie wurde festgestellt, dass die untersuchten Gefäße vor allem dem Spektrum der Gebrauchskeramik zuzuschreiben sind. Es ist festzuhalten, dass die Besiedlung durch die Bevölkerung der Przeworsk-Kultur in der jüngeren vorrömischen Eisenzeit in Wielkopolska sehr dünn war. Die älteste Stufe (A1) ist in den hier behandelten Fundkomplexen nicht vertreten
