English Title: Distribution and habitats of Newbouldia laevis (P.Beauv.) Seemann ex Bureau and Dracaena arborea (Willd.) Link in the bioclimatic zones of BeninThis study carried out in the three bioclimatic zones of Benin aims to determine the potential habitats and the geographic distributions of Newbouldia laevis and Dracaena arborea, two anthropophilic agroforestry species in order to conserve them sustainably. Thirty phytosociological surveys were sampled and the matrix gotten was subjected to an analysis of the adjusted correspondences (DCA) to discriminate the sacred forests with great diversity (Rf = 130; H = 5.92; R = 0.97) of the fields/fallows of medium diversity (Rf = 69; H = 3.40; R = 0.62) and balanced. The average densities of stems went from 64, 31 and 0 stems.ha-1 in D. arborea to 30, 15 and 09 stems.ha-1 in N. laevis in sacred forests and in fields/fallows from 28, 16 and 0 stems.ha-1 in D. arborea at 89, 56 and 13 stems.ha-1 in N. laevis respectively in guinean-congolese, sudano-guinean and sudanian zones. Phanerophytes constitute 85% of the average recovery in number and occupation of space. Guinean-congolese species are dominant and have a wide distribution spectrum. D. arborea and N. laevis keep better in sacred forests and fields / fallows respectively. The protection of potential habitats and the introduction of species into national reforestation programs as a priority would be an asset for better conservation. Keywords : Benin, Distribution, bioclimatic zone, Newbouldia laevis, Dracaena arborea.

Dynamique De L’occupation Du Sol Dans Les Zones Humides De La Commune D’allada Au Sud-Benin (Sites Ramsar 1017 Et 1018)
The wetlands are the integral element of the natural resource of Benin Republic. However, anthropic pressure on those “fragil” environments, contribute to the reducing of their surface and accordingly, to a loss their biodiversity. The target objective is to make cartography of land units from 1990 to 2014 in order to identify the various pressures upon the wet ecosystems. A 2014 Landsat 8 OLI-TIRS image and a 1990 map of Benin land cover were used to establish the cartography. We used the Maximum likelihood algorithm to execute the supervised classification of the landsat image in ERDAS. The mapping of the land’s units in the wetlands was then carried out in ArcGIS. The results revealed that the tree savana have completely disappeared. It represents 11.47 % of the landscape in 1990 against 0 % in 2014. The mosaics of fields and fallows under palm plantations have reduced to -30.42 % in 2014. They represent 66.63 % of the landscape. The land units which progressed are the mosaic of fields and fallow (12.06 %), the swamps (10.47 %), the plantations (5.26 %) and the agglomerations (2.71 %). This shows strong human pressure exerted on the natural vegetation of the wetlands in the Allada district. These results will provide the local authorities with a tool for decision support, for an efficient use and a sustainable management of these natural wet ecosystems
Pression Agrofonciere Et Mutations Agraires Sur Le Plateau Adja Au Sud Ouest Du Benin
History shows that the evolution of agrarian systems has generally been towards more intensive systems under the pressure of demographic pressure. The agrofoncial pressure experienced by the Adja Plateau and the resulting agrarian mutations have been studied by this research. The methodology used includes data collection, processing and analysis. The socio-economic surveys were carried out in selected villages on the basis of well-defined criteria. The 1995 Schwartz method was used to establish the sample. Also, seven (7) focus groups were carried out in 7 different villages. The proportions of arable land per farm and land tenure were calculated and analyzed. Agricultural practices were identified and then characterized. The determination of the level of pressure on the land was carried out by calculating the coefficients of Rutemberg R (1980), Allan L (1965) and the agro-demographic index (IAT). The results show that, in addition to traditional modes of access to arable land, such as inheritance and donation, new modes such as sharecropping, leasing and purchase have emerged and developed on the Adja Plateau. This situation can be explained by the gradual reduction of land available for agricultural assets, with an average of 0.34 ha for the whole of the Plateau. The result is a very long period of land use (9 years) before set-aside. For the whole Plateau, the average values of R, L and AIT are respectively 78.39; 1.28 and 0.12 ha / hbt. These figures indicate that the environment is characterized by a system of permanent crops in an area subject to high human pressure
In Benin, beef cattle breeding are essentially nomadic. Numerous studies and meeting focused on it in order to solving the difficulties it brings and numerous legal dispositions were adopted for this same target. This study aims at making the inventory of these different studies in order to bring out the constraints confronted by the  system. Several documents on transhumance in Benin and the region were consulted and the data synthesized. This synthesis allowed to characterizing the study area, then the historic and characterization of nowadays transhumance. The tools used are the triangulation. The study reveals that the first papers on transhumance were writing in 1905. Moreover, the results showed that transhumance is confronted with pasture, climate variability, the statutory texts, the conflicts and the availability of pastoral infrastructures. The study also showed that transhumance is still under the heavy influence of crops systems mainly the dry drought season. However, the contribution to the farming system is still inadequate.© 2015 International Formulae Group. All rights reserved. Keywords: West Africa, difficult, alimentation, audit, breedin
Impact Des Caractéristiques De La Végétation Sur La Diversité D’usages Des Plantes Autour De Deux Grandes Forêts Classées Et D’une Réserve Botanique Au Sud-Bénin
Southern-Benin has a mosaic of ecological conditions that have contributed to the development of its vast forest heritage. The combination of a number of parameters or indices (use value, diversity index, and equitability and citation frequency) is an effective way of identifying the most important plants for preservation. The objective was to carry out the checklist of the plants used around the classified forests of Ahozon and Lama and the botanical reserve of Pobè in Southern-Benin, with information on their use, threats and relations between the targeted habitats and the listed plants on the one hand and the knowledge associated with them and the socio-professional characteristics of the populations on the other. The data (user identity, plants used, plant organs collected, uses, plant threats) were collected from 113 individuals interviewed individually during an ethnobotanical study in 20 villages distributed around the three vegetation formations. The results showed that 59 plant species are useful for the populations surrounding the formations. The most important in terms of use value are Zanthoxylum zanthoxyloides (VUT = 7.86), Irvingia gabonensis (VUT = 7.84), Dialium guineense (VUT = 7.69), Khaya senegalensis (VUT = 7.46), Prosopis africana (VUT = 7.06), Ceiba pentandra (VUT = 7.01), and Synsepalum dulcificum (VUT = 6.98). The indices of Diversity and Equitability of the respondents reveal that knowledge on plant species is not homogeneously distributed (ID = 0.430, IE = 0.451 <0.5) and maximum information on species is held by a part of the population. Pruning (40%) is the main source of species threats. Plantation, agrosystems, sensitizing populations on good methods of harvest could help to preserve the main plants useful for the populations of Southern Benin
The presence of a border promotes the development of trade between two states. Thus, cross-border trade is a highly developed activity in the five Communes of the Plateau Department, a Department bordering Nigeria on the entire eastern side. The present work aims to characterize the border area of the Plateau Department, in the south-east of Benin. To achieve the objectives relating to the description of economic activities and the main products traded in the study area, investigations were made from the collection of data and information by means of documentary research, direct observations in the field, interviews and surveys with 390 households of cross-border trade players as well as and interviews with 51 resource persons and authorities in the study environment. The results obtained were analyzed and interpreted using the SWOT model (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). The results obtained show that markets are the main places that structure the cross-border space of the Plateau Department. They are public, fixed and secure meeting places where buyers and sellers jostle each other and even compete fiercely on busy days. This activity is organized through the river transaction from Kétoukpè up to Banigbé in the Municipality of Ifangni and by land from Igolo up to Idigny in the Municipality of Kétou. The products traded are, in order of importance, food consumption products (25.90 %), nonfood manufactured products (22.89%), petroleum products (19.74%), chemicals (17.69 %), equipment products (9.23%) and used vehicles (4.62%). Finally, this activity also has significant socio-economic effects
Impacts Des Changements Climatiques Sur La Population Riveraine Des Forets Classees D’agoua Et Toui-Kilibo Dans Le Departement Des Collines Au Benin
Mots clés : Forêts classées d’Agoua, vulnérabilité, changements climatiques, stratégies d’adaptationAbstract Rural households bordering the classified forests of Agoua and Toui- Kilibo in the hills department of Benin  where almost the entire population has an economy based on rain-fed agriculture, are not spared. To achieve this objective, climatological data (rainfall amounts, temperatures, relative humidity) from the synoptic station of Savè over the period 1971-2017 were used. The RCP 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios were used to assess the evolution of the climate by 2045. Agricultural statistics for speculations over the period 1995-2016 come from the MAEP. The diachronic analysis of the vegetation cover of the classified forests of Agoua and Toui-Kilobo respectively from 2000 to 2016 and from 1995 to 2015 was used to determine the adaptive capacity of the farmers before assessing their vulnerability with the matrix. climate risks. The results obtained show that a break in stationarity was observed during 1983 in the rainfall field used with a significance of 95% according to the Pettit test. There are therefore two major sub-periods of rainfall recession from 1971 to 1983 and the period of resumption of rainfall from 1984 to 2017. The maximum temperature follows an annual bimodal rhythm with two peaks, in February (36.7 ° C) and in November (34.4 ° C). The analysis of crop vulnerability shows that maize and sorghum are the most vulnerable with an exposure index of (83%) followed by fonio and cowpea (77%) and rice, yam and tomato (74%). In addition, water resources and pasture are vulnerable with a respective exposure index of (71%) and (66%) than groundwater resources (63%). As a result, the socio-professional groups most vulnerable to climate change are cereal and tuber producers (smallholders) (83%) and market gardeners and breeders (71%). Faced with this situation, the populations have developed adaptation strategies to reduce their vulnerability. Keywords: Agoua classified forests, vulnerability, climate change, adaptation strategie
Modeling of Environmental Dynamics Using the SpaCelle Software in the Department of Alibori in Benin (West Africa)
The natural resources are under heavy anthropogenic pressures caused by an ever increasing demand for the satisfaction of the needs of the population. The aim of this study was to assess future environmental changes taking into account the current land-use dynamics in the Alibori Department. The establishment and the diachronic analysis of the dynamics of the occupation of the grounds, the characterization of the vegetation and the environment of the classified forests from phytoecological surveys, socio-economic surveys, impact assessment methods and predictive modeling carried out under SpaCelle were the main methods used. The assessment of land-use dynamics revealed that the surfaces of woodlands and woodland savannas increased from 35.43 % to 7.29 km2 from 1990 to 2015. On the other hand, the areas of mosaics of crops and fallows passed from 13.36% to 35.22% from 1990 to 2015. The population growth and the agricultural practices that are not very respectful of the environment were the main factors in this degradation of the vegetation cover. The predictive modeling carried out under SpaCelle from the development of the scenarios makes it possible to deduce that with the scenario of "environmental stability", the area occupied by mosaics of crops and fallows will be 56.56 % against 74.36 % for the scenario of "tendency towards catastrophe" in 2050
English title: Effectiveness of Community Areas for Biodiversity Conservation (ACCB) in protecting threatened woody plant species in the Mono biosphere reserve (Benin)
The creation of biosphere reserves is one of the strategies adopted to ensure the conservation of biodiversity. However, the effectiveness of biosphere reserves in ensuring the conservation of biodiversity still remains a subject of scientific debate. This study aimed to analyse the effectiveness of the Mono biosphere reserve (Benin) in the conservation of threatened woody species. Maximum entropy modelling (MaxEnt) was performed to identify suitable habitats for these threatened woody species. The suitable habitats for the various threatened woody species were then superimposed on the existing ACCB to determine the proportion of suitable habitats found in these ACCB. The results revealed conservation gaps in the Mono biosphere reserve, as more than 86% of suitable habitats for threatened woody species were found outside the core area and buffer zone of the reserve where conservation efforts were concentrated. Based on these results, it is necessary to generate new core areas from suitable habitats of threatened woody species to reduce the conservation gaps in the Mono biosphere reserve
Modes Et Outils D’Exploitation Des Formations Végétales Etudiées Dans La Commune De Bassila Au Benin
