    This paper explores the link between an environmental policy and economic growth employing an extension of the Neoclassical Growth Model. We include a state equation to renewable natural resources, and consider natural resources as a component of the aggregate productivity. It is assumed that the change of the environmental regulations induces costs and that economic agents also derive some utility from stock capital accumulation via-a-vis environment. Using the Hopf bifurcation theorem, it can be shown that cyclical environmental policy strategies are optimal, providing a theoretical support to the Environmental Kuznets CurveNeoclassical Growth Model, Environmental Kuznets Curve, Hopf Bifurcation Theorem, Limit Cycles.

    Coupling vortex dynamics with collective excitations in Bose-Einstein Condensates

    Here we analyze the collective excitations as well as the expansion of a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate with a vortex line at its center. To this end, we propose a variational method where the variational parameters have to be carefully chosen in order to produce reliable results. Our variational calculations agree with numerical simulations of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The system considered here turns out to exhibit four collective modes of which only three can be observed at a time depending of the trap anisotropy. We also demonstrate that these collective modes can be excited using well established experimental methods such as modulation of the s-wave scattering length

    Code merging using transformations and member identity

    Conventionally, merging code files is performed using generic line-based merging algorithms (e.g., diff3) that are unaware of the syntax and semantics of the programming language, outputting conflicts that could be avoided. Structured and semistructured merging techniques are capable of reducing conflicts, but they still suffer from false positives (conflicts that could be avoided) and false negatives (conflicts that go undetected). We propose a merging technique that combines semistructured and transformation-based strategies, where conflict detection is aware of semantic aspects of the programming language. We extract transformations of two branches and apply a merging process that analyzes incompatible transformations, avoiding false positives and false negatives that occur in existing approaches. We developed Jaid, a prototype merging tool for Java based on the assumption that structural code elements evolve with attached UUIDs (representing identity).     Practicum Student Counselor Identity Development Through the COVID-19 Pandemic

    The process of developing a counselor identity is a complex task, and it starts as early as when a student first enrolls in a Master’s program. Within the events surrounding COVID-19, limited information is known about how that experience might have affected counseling students\u27 professional identity development. Through Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis, we explored the counselor identity development process of Master’s-level counseling practicum students (n=6) during the events of the COVID-19 pandemic. Emerging themes indicated that students\u27 experiences throughout the pandemic had a unique influence on their conceptualization of the practicum experience. Findings illustrated that these events slowed some aspects of counselor identity development (e.g., perceptions of counselor roles, systemic identity integration) while expediting other aspects (e.g., self-reliance). Implications for counselor educators, supervisors, and counseling programs are discussed
