    Get PDF
Conventional advertisements due to its over exposure arelosing their effectiveness; consequently product placement strategy is becoming a popular marketing tool. The aim of this paper is to ascertain the influence of predictors variable “product placement” on dependent variables (“brand recall, purchase intention and brand loyalty”. This study has a sample of 300 respondents who were selected via Mall intercept method. The data was evaluated through a multiple steps procedure and the overall model tested through SEM. The model was able to successfully explain who consumer’s reacts on productplacement strategy. The results were consistent with the earlierliterature, and all the three hypotheses failed to be rejected. Thisstudy revealed that the strongest effect of product placement was on brand loyalty. Purchase intention and brand recall also significantly affect product placements

Breast imaging chameleon: Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia presenting as breast malignancy

    Get PDF
Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) is a benign mesenchymal proliferative lesion of the breast, often an incidental finding on breast biopsy specimens and rarely presents as a palpable lump. The case being reported is interesting as a lactating female presented with gross left breast enlargement due to a huge firm mass with skin thickening and palpable left axillary lymph nodes. A provisional diagnosis of left breast malignancy was made and the patient extensively worked up with ultrasound, CT scan, bone scan and core biopsy. The histopathology, however, revealed PASH of the breast. There was no invasive or in situ malignancy. The patient was successfully managed conservatively

Objective:  To determine the influence of disease severity and surgical treatment in patients with dorsal and dorsolumbar spinal tuberculosis with severe neurological deficit. Methods:  In this retrospective study (2005 – 2009) medical records of all patients with dorsal and dorsolumbar spinal tuberculosis treated surgically by Zafar Iqbal were analyzed. The clinical features, disease severity, operative procedures and outcome and factors affecting outcome were analyzed. Results:  A total of 42 patients with dorsal and dorsolumbar spinal tuberculosis with severe neurological deficit were treated surgically during this period. Two patients had follow-up of less than 3 months and were excluded from this study. Their age ranged from 18 to 65 years, with a mean age of 31 years. Male to female ratio was 3:2. Presenting symptoms were local pain in 34 (85%), radicular pain in 5 (12.5%),  Conclusion:  This study indicates that a significant proportion of patients with spinal tuberculosis and severe motor deficits get remarkable improvement after surgical decompression and hence should undergo surgery even though they may be suffering from paraplegia of considerable duration. We found that age less than 50 years, radical surgery and spasticity are favourable prognostic factors

Low grade mullerian adenosarcoma of pouch of douglas recurring as bilateral ovarian high grade mullerian adenosarcoma with rhabdomyosarcomatous overgrowth after 11 years

    Get PDF
Mullerian adenosarcoma (MA) of ovary with sarcomatous (rhabdomyoblastic) overgrowth is an extremely rare malignant type of female genital tract neoplasm. These tumours are highly aggressive and presence of heterologous elements is associated with worse prognosis. A 44 year old female presented with lower abdominal pain and distension. She had history of removal of tumour from pouch of Douglas in 2006 for which she did not receive any additional treatment nor did she keep continuous follow up. Current preoperative radiological examination revealed bilateral ovarian masses. She underwent abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy. Microscopic examination revealed biphasic tumours exhibiting sarcomatous overgrowth with rhabdomyoblastic differentiation. Review of the previous biopsy revealed low grade Mullerian adenosarcoma without sarcomatous overgrowth. Hence the current tumour was considered recurrent. This report highlights the aggressive nature of MA even with low grade morphological features and emphasizes the importance of continuous follow up and additional treatmen

Intramuscular Route of Administration Increases Potency in Eliciting Cocaine-Induced Behavioral Sensitization

    Get PDF
Background: Cocaine is the number one abused psychostimulant drug that reaches addiction criterion in the US. In animals, repeated administration of cocaine results in behavioral sensitization which is thought to represent adaptations in the mesolimbic dopamine neural circuitry, the reward pathway. Cocaine-induced behavioral sensitization is evident in rodents and quail when cocaine is administered intraperitoneally (IP). Objective: The purpose of the current study was to investigate dose-dependent and temporal effects of acute and chronic intramuscular (IM) administration of cocaine in male quail. Method: After habituation to the test chambers, male quail received an IM injection of saline, 3 or 10 mg/kg cocaine and were immediately placed in the chambers. Distance traveled (in meters) was recorded in 5 min time bins for 30 min. Testing was conducted once per day for ten days with each subject receiving the same treatment throughout the experiment. Other behaviors including pecking, preening, and feather fluffing were measured. Results: Cocaine-induced behavioral sensitization and tolerance were evident at relatively low doses of IM cocaine. Dose-dependent effects were evident. IM cocaine also reduced feather fluffing, a behavior that typically occurs during hypothermia. Conclusion: The findings replicated and extended previous research with pigeons and suggested that IM administration of cocaine may be a relatively potent route of administration. Potency of drugs of abuse may be related to the bioavailability of a drug and its addictive properties. Thus, studying drugs of abuse using an IM route of administration may be useful in drug addiction research

Ambulatory Pulmonary Artery Pressure Monitoring in Advanced Heart Failure Patients

    Get PDF
Heart failure (HF) is an emerging epidemic associate with significant morbidity, mortality, and health care expenditure. Although there were major advances in pharmacologic and device based therapies for the management of HF, mortality of this condition remains high. Accurate monitoring of HF patients for exacerbations is very important to reduce recurrent hospitalizations and its associated complications. With the failure of clinical signs, tele-monitoring, and laboratory bio-markers to function as early markers of HF exacerbations, more sophisticated techniques were sought to accurately predict the circulatory status in HF patients in order to execute timely pharmacological intervention to reduce frequent hospitalizations. CardioMEMSTM (St. Jude Medical, Inc., Saint Paul, Minnesota) is an implantable, wireless pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) monitoring system which transmits the patient\u27s continuous PAPs to the treating health care provider in the ambulatory setting. PAP-guided medical therapy modification has been shown to significantly reduce HF-related hospitalization and overall mortality. In advanced stages of HF, wireless access to hemodynamic information correlated with earlier left ventricular assist device implantation and shorter time to heart transplantation

Product to process lifecycle management in assembly automation systems

    Get PDF
Presently, the automotive industry is facing enormous pressure due to global competition and ever changing legislative, economic and customer demands. Product and process development in the automotive manufacturing industry is a challenging task for many reasons. Current product life cycle management (PLM) systems tend to be product-focussed. Though, information about processes and resources are there but mostly linked to the product. Process is an important aspect, especially in assembly automation systems that link products to their manufacturing resources. This paper presents a process-centric approach to improve PLM systems in large-scale manufacturing companies, especially in the powertrain sector of the automotive industry. The idea is to integrate the information related to key engineering chains i.e. products, processes and resources based upon PLM philosophy and shift the trend of product-focussed lifecycle management to process-focussed lifecycle management, the outcome of which is the Product, Process and Resource Lifecycle Management not PLM only

Understanding about the role society should play in nurturing and grooming of risk seekers is critical for every society in order to produce better entrepreneur and increase the prospects socio-economic uplift. The economic strength of a society stands on the number of risk seekers breathe in it. A nation is likely to remain rearward not because of scarcity of infrastructure or drought of natural resources, but because of the absence of entrepreneurial skill to tap the buried resources existing with in that society. The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between nurturing of entrepreneurs (dependent variable) and the societal factors (independent variable) including role of education system, family support and, government policies.
