Optimization of Analytic Window Functions
Analytic functions represent the state-of-the-art way of performing complex
data analysis within a single SQL statement. In particular, an important class
of analytic functions that has been frequently used in commercial systems to
support OLAP and decision support applications is the class of window
functions. A window function returns for each input tuple a value derived from
applying a function over a window of neighboring tuples. However, existing
window function evaluation approaches are based on a naive sorting scheme. In
this paper, we study the problem of optimizing the evaluation of window
functions. We propose several efficient techniques, and identify optimization
opportunities that allow us to optimize the evaluation of a set of window
functions. We have integrated our scheme into PostgreSQL. Our comprehensive
experimental study on the TPC-DS datasets as well as synthetic datasets and
queries demonstrate significant speedup over existing approaches.Comment: VLDB201
A Study on Water Utilization in Chinese Rural Areas
In China, because rural population is great and agriculture is very important in national economy, rural areas have becomes a main sphere of water consume. There exist the problems of water shortage and water waste in the countryside. The conflicts of water resource supply and demand between industry and agriculture are very conspicuous. Various factors that include ideology, finance, technology, management and policy restrict the rational and effective use of water resource. The survey on the villages of Jia Ge Zhuang and Yao Bai Zhuang in Ji County, Tianjin reflects these problems. The government tries to solve the problems by making laws and policies, as well as affording financial and technology support to towns and villages. At the same time, it is necessary for the government to make officials and farmers realize the importance of rational water usage and saving by doing propaganda, coordinating the inter-governments relations, and defining the departments’ duties. For realizing the objective of rational water usage, it is necessary to take measures to construct and perfect irrigation installations by both superior and local governments’ investment and farmers’ labor force. 4,4′-(Phenylimino)dibenzaldehyde
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C20H15NO2, contains one half-molecule with the central N atom and two C atoms of the benzene moiety lying on a twofold rotation axis. Weak C—H⋯O interactions join the molecules together into an infinite three-dimensional network
Criticality of the universality via global solutions to nonperturbative fixed-point equations
Fixed-point equations in the functional renormalization group approach are
integrated from large to vanishing field, where an asymptotic potential in the
limit of large field is implemented as initial conditions. This approach allows
us to obtain a global fixed-point potential with high numerical accuracy, that
incorporates the correct asymptotic behavior in the limit of large field. Our
calculated global potential is in good agreement with the Taylor expansion in
the region of small field, and it also coincides with the Laurent expansion in
the regime of large field. Laurent expansion of the potential in the limit of
large field for general case, that the spatial dimension is a continuous
variable in the range , is obtained. Eigenfunctions and
eigenvalues of perturbations near the Wilson-Fisher fixed point are computed
with the method of eigenperturbations. Critical exponents for different values
of and of the universality class are calculated.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, 1 table; v2: minor changes, discussions and

Ferrocenyl(methyl)diphenylsilane
In the title molecule, [Fe(C5H5)(C18H17Si)], the distances of the Fe atom from the centroids of the unsubstituted and substituted cyclopentadienyl (Cp) rings are 1.651 (1) and 1.646 (1) Å, respectively. The dihedral angle between the two Cp rings is 3.20 (17)°. The crystal packing is mainly stabilized by van der Waals forces
Cross-linked CoMoO4/rGO nanosheets as oxygen reduction catalyst
Development of inexpensive and robust electrocatalysts towards oxygen reduction reaction
(ORR) is crucial for the cost-affordable manufacturing of metal-air batteries and fuel cells. Here
we show that cross-linked CoMoO4 nanosheets and reduced graphene oxide (CoMoO4/rGO) can
be integrated in a hybrid material under one-pot hydrothermal conditions, yielding a composite
material with promising catalytic activity for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Cyclic voltammetry
(CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) were used to investigate the efficiency of the fabricated
CoMoO4/rGO catalyst towards ORR in alkaline conditions. The CoMoO4/rGO composite revealed
the main reduction peak and onset potential centered at 0.78 and 0.89 V (vs. RHE), respectively.
This study shows that the CoMoO4/rGO composite is a highly promising catalyst for the ORR under
alkaline conditions, and potential noble metal replacement cathode in fuel cells and metal-air batteries

In the title molecule, [Fe2(C5H5)2(C17H16Si)], the cyclopentadienyl rings linked to the same Fe atom are approximately eclipsed and the interplanar angles are 1.8 (2) and 3.4 (2)°. The Fe atom is slightly closer to the substituted cyclopentadienyl ring
Human wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells minimally improve the growth kinetics and cardiomyocyte differentiation of aged murine cardiac c-kit cells in in vitro without rejuvenating effect
Cardiac c-kit cells show promise in regenerating an injured heart. While heart disease commonly affects elderly patients, it is unclear if autologous cardiac c-kit cells are functionally competent and applicable to these patients. This study characterised cardiac c-kit cells (CCs) from aged mice and studied the effects of human Wharton’s Jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on the growth kinetics and cardiac differentiation of aged CCs in vitro. CCs were isolated from 4-week- and 18-month-old C57/BL6N mice and were directly co-cultured with MSCs or separated by transwell insert. Clonogenically expanded aged CCs showed comparable telomere length to young CCs. However, these cells showed lower Gata4, Nkx2.5, and Sox2 gene expressions, with changes of 2.4, 3767.0, and 4.9 folds, respectively. Direct co-culture of both cells increased aged CC migration, which repopulated 54.6 ± 4.4% of the gap area as compared to aged CCs with MSCs in transwell (42.9 ± 2.6%) and CCs without MSCs (44.7 ± 2.5%). Both direct and transwell co-culture improved proliferation in aged CCs by 15.0% and 16.4%, respectively, as traced using carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester (CFSE) for three days. These data suggest that MSCs can improve the growth kinetics of aged CCs. CCs retaining intact telomere are present in old hearts and could be obtained based on their self-renewing capability. Although these aged CCs with reduced growth kinetics are improved by MSCs via cell–cell contact, the effect is minimal
Full velocities and propagation directions of coronal mass ejections inferred from simultaneous full-disk imaging and Sun-as-a-star spectroscopic observations
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are violent ejections of magnetized plasma from
the Sun, which can trigger geomagnetic storms, endanger satellite operations
and destroy electrical infrastructures on the Earth. After systematically
searching Sun-as-a-star spectra observed by the Extreme-ultraviolet Variability
Experiment (EVE) onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) from May 2010 to
May 2022, we identified eight CMEs associated with flares and filament
eruptions by analyzing the blue-wing asymmetry of the O III 52.58 nm line
profiles. Combined with images simultaneously taken by the 30.4 nm channel of
the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly onboard SDO, the full velocity and propagation
direction for each of the eight CMEs are derived. We find a strong correlation
between geomagnetic indices (Kp and Dst) and the angle between the CME
propagation direction and the Sun-Earth line, suggesting that Sun-as-a-star
spectroscopic observations at EUV wavelengths can potentially help to improve
the prediction accuracy of the geoeffectiveness of CMEs. Moreover, an analysis
of synthesized long-exposure Sun-as-a-star spectra implies that it is possible
to detect CMEs from other stars through blue-wing asymmetries or blueshifts of
spectral lines.Comment: Accepted by Ap
