    Profilaxia da Fibrilaçao Atrial no Pós-Operatório de Cirurgia Cardíaca

    A alta prevalência da Fibrilaçao Atrial (FA) após cirurgia cardíaca, com suas reaçoes adversas para os pacientes, demanda a padronizaçao das terapias profiláticas. Entre os fatores predisponentes da FA pós-operatória encontram-se: idade avançada, doença valvar (estenose mitral) e cirurgia cardíaca prévia. Pericardite e lesao atrial pelo manuseio e canulaçao sao fatores prováveis na sua patogênese. A prescriçao de β-bloqueadores, amiodarona e sotalol tem permitido a diminuiçao de sua incidência. A estimulaçao atrial parece ser uma boa opçao para a prevençao de FA pós-cirúrgica, porém o tipo e o modo de estimulaçao ainda precisam de maiores estudos. Neste trabalho, revisamos e discutimos 72 artigos publicados sobre o assunto, objetivando comparar as terapias mais utilizadas, buscando assim um consenso para a profilaxia da FA no pós-operatório das cirurgias cardíacas

    Search for Long-Lived Particles Decaying in the CMS End Cap Muon Detectors in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=13 TeV

    A search for long-lived particles (LLPs) produced in decays of standard model (SM) Higgs bosons is presented. The data sample consists of 137 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV, recorded at the LHC in 2016-2018. A novel technique is employed to reconstruct decays of LLPs in the end cap muon detectors. The search is sensitive to a broad range of LLP decay modes and to masses as low as a few GeV. No excess of events above the SM background is observed. The most stringent limits to date on the branching fraction of the Higgs boson to LLPs subsequently decaying to quarks and tau(+)tau(-) are found for proper decay lengths greater than 6, 20, and 40 m, for LLP masses of 7, 15, and 40 GeV, respectively

    A search for exclusive two-photon production via photon exchange in proton-proton collisions, pp \to pγγ\gamma\gammap with intact protons, is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.4 fb1^{-1} collected in 2016 using the CMS and TOTEM detectors at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC. Events are selected with a diphoton invariant mass above 350 GeV and with both protons intact in the final state, to reduce backgrounds from strong interactions. The events of interest are those where the invariant mass and rapidity calculated from the momentum losses of the forward-moving protons matches the mass and rapidity of the central, two-photon system. No events are found that satisfy this condition. Interpreting this result in an effective dimension-8 extension of the standard model, the first limits are set on the two anomalous four-photon coupling parameters. If the other parameter is constrained to its standard model value, the limits at 95% CL are ζ1\lvert\zeta_1\rvert <\lt 2.9 ×\times 1013^{-13} GeV4^{-4} and ζ2\lvert\zeta_2\rvert <\lt 6.0 ×\times 1013^{-13} GeV4^{-4}

To remove the dominant inclusive diphoton backgrounds, the kinematic properties of the protons detected in PPS are required to match those of the central diphoton system. Only events having opposite-side forward protons detected with a fractional momentum loss between 0.035 and 0.15 (0.18) for the detectors on the negative (positive) side of CMS are considered. One exclusive diphoton candidate is observed for an expected background of 1.1 events. Limits at 95% confidence level are derived for the four-photon anomalous coupling parameters ζ1<\lvert\zeta_1\rvert \lt 0.073 TeV4^{-4} and ζ2<\lvert\zeta_2\rvert \lt 0.15 TeV4^{-4}, using an effective field theory. Additionally, upper limits are placed on the production of axion-like particles with coupling strength to photons f1f^{-1} that varies from 0.03 TeV1^{-1} to 1 TeV1^{-1} over the mass range from 500 to 2000 GeV

    International audienceThe central exclusive production of charged-hadron pairs in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13\TeV is examined, based on data collected in a special high-β\beta^* run of the LHC. The nonresonant continuum processes are studied with the invariant mass of the centrally produced two-pion system in the resonance-free region, mπ+πm_{\pi^+\pi^-}<\lt 0.7 GeV or mπ+πm_{\pi^+\pi^-}>\gt 1.8 GeV. Differential cross sections as functions of the azimuthal angle between the surviving protons, squared exchanged four-momenta, and mπ+πm_{\pi^+\pi^-} are measured in a wide region of scattered proton transverse momenta, between 0.2 and 0.8 GeV, and for pion rapidities y\lvert y\rvert<\lt 2. A rich structure of interactions related to double-pomeron exchange is observed. A parabolic minimum in the distribution of the two-proton azimuthal angle is observed for the first time. It can be interpreted as an effect of additional pomeron exchanges between the protons from the interference between the bare and the rescattered amplitudes. After model tuning, various physical quantities are determined that are related to the pomeron cross section, proton-pomeron and meson-pomeron form factors, pomeron trajectory and intercept, and coefficients of diffractive eigenstates of the proton
