Design of Smoke Detector for Smart Room Based on Arduino Uno

    Get PDF
Smoke is one of the air pollutions that is very detrimental to the health of both the smoker himself and others around him. Inhaling other people's smoke is even more dangerous than inhaling your own smoke. Even the dangers that must be borne by passive smokers are three times greater than the dangers of active smokers. Smoke is also very detrimental to the health of patients in hospitals, especially patients who suffer from asthma. For people with asthma who have problems in the respiratory tract, asthma can recur at any time due to inhaling smoke. This research will develop a smart room that can detect smoke to maintain and protect the room from smoke that interferes with health. The tool to be developed uses an MQ2 sensor, LCD, exhaust fan, buzzer, and Arduino Uno microcontroller. Where an MQ2 sensor is needed to detect smoke around it, an LCD is needed to display the percentage of smoke, a microcontroller as a controller for all components, a buzzer is used as an alarm when the smoke level in the room is unhealthy, and the exhaust fan functions as a sucker for dirty air so that the smoke level in the room can be reduced

This textbook is intended to be used as reference for the introductory level financial accounting and reporting course. Its emphasis is on awareness of IFRS judgements and estimates, in line with Stage 1 of the framework-based teaching. Accordingly, discussions in the chapters focus mostly on elements definition, recognition and initial measurement. Students are first given an overview of the Malaysian Financial Reporting Framework, followed by the introduction of the Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting and an overview of the presentation of financial statements. Much of the explanatory material have been drawn from the Malaysian business setting. Key Features? The content complies with the latest Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and is tailored for the financial accounting and reporting syllabuses of local universities. Review Questions and Application Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter to help students prepare for final examinations.? Check Your Understanding and Conceptual Framework Highlights are features built within the chapters to enhance the student’s learning process. Numerous examples with worked solutions are given to help students grasp important concepts

Social proof in social media shopping: An experimental design research

    No full text
The practices of social proof techniques to attract consumers to shop on social media have proliferated over time and been used extensively. The reviewed literature uncovers that social community recommendation, customers’ ratings and reviews, celebrity’s endorser and numbers of likes, affect consumers’ purchasing decisions. However, the effect of different types of social proof techniques on purchasing intention is unknown. This study empirically compares the effect of number of followers, celebrity endorser and social community recommendation on consumers’ purchasing intention. An experiment has been conducted and the results reveal that the consumers’ purchasing intention differs between groups. Further analysis discovers that the impact on consumers’ purchasing intention is different between high number of followers and low number of followers, and between having social community recommendation and not having social community recommendation. Though, the impact of these two techniques is equal wherein no technique is superior to other. In order to gain purchasing engagement and boost online sales, online businesses on social media are encouraged to use the power of social proof technique, either by increasing the number of followers or providing more social community recommendations

A review of the quality management, environmental management and company performance: among Malaysia food SMEs

    No full text
Environmental management system(EMS) are important to the success in company performance. This is due to the customer response that they appreciate and willing to pay more for the product that get accredited in terms of environmental management. Many companies believe that by implementing EMS this will incur cost and reduce the profit of the company. Meanwhile, the literature shows that the EMS is one of the key factor that can increased the marketability of the products. However there are research gaps in terms of the implementation of EMS on small medium enterprises. The objectives of this study is to develop a conceptual framework in order to evaluate the relationship between EMS and company performance . The quality management approaches will be considered to identify the factors that influencing the success of company performances when they implement EMS

Production and characterization of diesel-like fuel by catalytic upgrading of scrap tire pyrolysis oil using basic catalyst derived from blood cockle shell (Anadara Granosa)

    No full text
This paper investigates the catalytic upgrading process in overcoming the scrap tire pyrolysis oil (STPO) complexities using a calcium-based catalyst derived from blood cockle shell (Anadara granosa). The calcined blood cockle (CBC) shells were synthesized by varying the temperature of calcination to 800, 900 and 1000 °C. In order to investigate the physico-chemical properties, the STPO was subjected to test method according to ASTM D975. The final distilled oil obtained from catalytic upgrading underwent gas chromatography with mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis, in order to identify its chemical composition. According to the results, CaO material gives the lowest sulphur content (0.08%), compared to Ca(OH)2and Na2CO3catalysts. Among the CBC materials, the highest distilled oil yield is the CBC-1000 catalyst, with a value of 37.7%. The GC-MS analysis of distilled oil obtained from catalytic upgrading using the CBC-1000 catalyst reveals that, predominantly, the hydrocarbon chain is between C8 to C10, which is similar to conventional diesel fuel. The results also infer that there is improvement in STPO in terms of sulphur content (%), yield, and chemical compositions via the catalytic upgrading process. In conclusion, the CBC catalyst derived from blood cockle shell revealed that it has potential in upgrading the STPO to diesel-like fuel
