Can fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making improve Strategic planning by balanced scorecard?
Strategic management is momentous for organizational success and competitive advantage in an increasingly turbulent business environment. Balanced scorecard (BSC) is a framework for evaluating strategic management performance which translates strategy into action via various sets of performance measurement indicators. The main objective of this research is to develop a new fuzzy group Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) model for strategic plans selection process in the BSC. For this to happen, the current study has implemented linguistic extension of MCDM model for robust selection of strategic plans. The new linguistic reasoning for group decision making is able to aggregate subjective evaluation of the decision makers and hence create an opportunity to perform more robust strategic plans, despite of the vagueness and uncertainty of strategic plans selection process. A numerical example demonstrates possibilities for the improvement of BSC through applying the proposed model

The Large Scale Roll-Out of Electric Vehicles: The Effect on the Electricity Sector and CO2 Emissions
The UK government has set the ambitious targets of 20 and 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 and 2050 respectively. The transport sector accounts for 21% of total CO2 emissions in the UK and can, therefore, be important for achieving the emissions reduction targets. Within the transport sector, electric vehicles (EV) are considered as one of the important mitigation options. However the effect of EVs on emissions and the electricity sector is subject to debate. We use scenario analysis to investigate the emission reduction potential of EVs and their interaction with electricity sector. We show that managing the charging patterns could reduce adverse effects of EVs on the electricity sector while the number of EVs remains the factor affecting the mitigation potential. Our findings indicate that in the UK, by 2030, EVs could result in up to 32% emissions reduction compared to advanced internal combustion engines. We also found that the need for new electricity generation and distribution capacity to meet the conventional electricity demand and demand from EVs could be reduced by up to 12% from 70.6 to 61.8 GW if the EVâs electricity demand is managed
Using crowdsourcing tools for implementing open strategy: A case study in education
Following critiques on the conventional methods of strategic planning, and the stream of research on the effect of more participation on the success of strategy process, the new concept of open strategy has been introduced to the literature. Based on the notion of open innovation, this new concept covers two principles of inclusiveness and transparency. The current study introduces an in-progress case study of using the crowdsourcing model to implement the open strategy concept in an Australian university. We use the principles of Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) for open strategic planning by using the crowdsourcing model and evaluate the method by comparing the quality of resultant plan in delivering its objective. This study explains our approach and a conceptual design for the proposed method as well as our plan for conducting future phases of the research. The introduced process can be used in similar practices of open strategic planning
A Review of Critical Factors for Communicating With Customers on Social Networking Sites
This paper undertakes a systematic review to gain insight into existing studies on the application of Social Network Sites (SNS). Our systematic review of studies from 1995 to 2012 examines the background and trend of research in the area and provides critical factors that organizations should consider for effectively use social networking sites to communicate with their customers. We note a huge growth in the number of academic papers on the topic since 1998. Seventeen factors were identified as a result of review, which shaped two main themes: (i) A customercentric organizational culture, and (ii) SNS Know-How. The findings show that for a successful and effective use of SNSs, and in particular Facebook, a combination of good understanding of SNSs tools and capabilities as well as a constant and transparent relationship with customers are essential. Cellular immune reactions of the sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps, to the entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveriabassiana and its secondary metabolites
In this study, five morphological types of circulating hemocytes were recognized in thehemolymph of the adult sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps Puton (Hemiptera: Scutelleridae),namely prohemocytes, plasmatocytes, granulocytes, adipohemocytes, and oenocytoids. Theeffects of the secondary metabolites of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana oncellular immune defenses of Eurygaster integriceps were investigated. The results showed thatthe fungal secondary metabolites inhibited phagocytic activity of E. integriceps hemocytes andhampered nodule formation. A reduction of phenoloxidase activity was also observed. The datasuggest that B. bassiana produce secondary metabolites that disable several immune mechanismsallowing the fungus to overcome and then kill its host. This characteristic makes B. bassiana apromising model for biological control of insect pests such as E. integriceps

Improved Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Hepatocyte-like Cells using FGF4 and IGF-1 in 3D Culture
Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells (UCMSCs) are considered as an excellent candidate for cell therapy to treat end-stage liver disease. Fibroblast Growth Factor-4 (FGF4), Hepatocyte Growth Factor, and Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 are some of the critical cytokines involved in liver development and regeneration. To evaluate the differentiation
potency of cells into hepatocyte-like cells we used these cytokines. UCMSCs were isolated from Wharton's jelly of fullterm infants. The cells were characterized as MSCs by flow-cytometry and their multilineage differentiation capacity. Then, UCMSCs were cultured in 3D collagen scaffold and hepatogenic media with or without FGF4 for 21 days and the data
were compared to control. The expression of liver specific genes was evaluated by real-time quantitative RT-PCR and immunocytochemistry.
These cells expressed MSC markers and could differentiate into adipocytes and osteocytes. A nonâsignificant higher level of liver specific genes, such as cytokeratin-18 and 19, alpha-fetoprotein and albumin, and also a significant higher level of CYP2B6 expressed by UCMSCs in hepatogenic medium containing FGF4 compared with control. In some specimens,
cytokeratin-19-positive cells surrounded a luminal space within collagen scaffolds. Liver-specific marker expression was increased by pre-exposing the cells to FGF4 before treating with IGF-1 and HGF in 3D collagen scaffold.

Olfactory response of the predatory bug, Orius niger (Hem.: Anthocoridae) to Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) on cucumber leaves treated or untreated by Beauveria bassiana
Olfactory experiments were performed to study the predation behavior of Orius niger Wolff (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) on the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) in presence or absence of Beauveria bassiana (Bals.). The experiments were carried out with six day old female bugs by recording the predator direction towards each of the Y-tube olfactometer arms and through three dependent replicates consisted of 15 replicates each. The predatory bug showed a significant preference towards the odors related to infested cucumber leaves by T. urticae in the absence of fungus and when the predator received odors related to T. urticae infested leaves v.s. B.bassiana fungus treated, spider mite infested leaves (72 hours). There was no significant difference in the predator olfactory experiment when the alternative arms consisted of treated v.s. untreated spider mite infested cucumber leaves (0, 24 and 48 hours after treatment). The results showed the capacity of the predatory bug to recognize the patches infected by B.bassiana fungus and successfully avoiding it
Empirical Evaluation of the Influence of EMR Alignment to Care Processes on Data Completeness
Data completeness is an important dimension of data quality in electronic medical records (EMR). There are many constructs that influence data completeness in EMR. In this paper, we investigate three of these constructs: Clinical staff participation, EMR integration, and EMR alignment to care processes. We use these constructs from related studies as theoretical support to propose a conceptual model of factors influencing data completeness in EMR. The conceptual model is empirically validated using a survey with clinical staff participants. The results reveal that a high level of clinical staffâs participation influences the data completeness in EMR. Furthermore, the alignment of EMR to the care processes has an impact on the data completeness in EMR
