Metacercariae of Metagonimus hakubaensis Shimazu, 1999 (Digenea: Heterophyidae)were obtained from the lamprey Lethenteron reissneri (Dybowski)(Agnatha: Petromyzontidae) collected in the stream at Kamishiro, Hakuba village, Nagano prefecture, central Japan. They were experimentally fed to golden hamsters. Gravid adult worms were recovered from the small intestine of the golden hamsters 22 days after infection. The adults were fixed in hot formalin, stained and mounted in Canada balsam. Whole-mounted adults were described and compared in morphology with the slightly flattened type series. In the present specimens, the ventral sucker was usually slightly larger than or as large as, or rarely slightly smaller than, the oral sucker; and the sucker ratio was 1: 0.94―1.21 instead of 1: 0.75―1.06 in the slightly flattened type series

Journal of Nagano Prefectural College, No. 45, pp. 1-14, 18 December 1990.The following digenetic trematodes are described and figured from Japanese freshwater fishes: Crepidostomum chaenogobii Yamaguti et Matumura, 1942; C. farionis (Müller, 1780) Lühe, 1909; C. metoecus (Braun, 1900) Braun, 1900; C. salmonis Fujita, 1921, sp. Inq. ; and C. uchimii Fujita, 1920, sp. Inq. (Allocreadiidae: Crepidostominae). Data on their hosts, geographical distribution and life cycles are given

Digenetic trematodes, Asymphylodora Japonica Yamaguti, 1938, A. maccrostoma Ozaki, 1925, Anapalaeorchis hamajimai Fujino and Kifune, 1991, and Pakaeorchis displorchis (Yamaguti, 1936) Szidat, 1943 (Lissorchiidae Magath, 1917), all parasitic in Japanese freshwater fishes are described and figured. Data on their museum specimens, hosts, localities and life cycles are given. Amended diagnoses of the family and genera concerned are proposed

The digenetic trematodes described below were found in freshwater fishes collected near Kushiro, eastern Hokkaido, Japan. The fishes examined were fresh raw, frozen or formalinpreserved ones: 15 Hucho perryi (Salmonidae), 275 to 600 mm in fork length, from the Kushiro river water system (the Ashibetsu, Hororo, Kottaro, Kushiro, Ninishibetsu, Numahoro and Settsuri rivers) and the Bekanbeushi river water system (the Bekanbeushi and Toraibetsu rivers) during April 1966 to May 1977; 5 Salvelinus leucomaenis (Salmonidae), 270 to 540 mm in fork length, from the Ashibetsu and Numahoro rivers and a river belonging to the Kushiro river water system in April and May 1977; 7 Tribolodon hakonensis (Cyprinidae), not measured, from the Kushiro River near Toro in May 1977; 4 T. ezoe, 155 to 249 mm in fork length, from the Kushiro River near Toro in May 1977; and 2 Cottus nozawae (Cottidae), 139 to 146 mm in fork length, from the Ashibetsu River in May 1977.Most of the flukes obtained were flattened, fixed in ScHAUDINN′s solution or 70% ethanol, stained with HEIDENHAIN′s iron hematoxylin or alum carmine, and mounted in Canada balsam. Some were mounted in balsam after being killed in hot 10% formalin and stained with alum carmine. Serial paraffin sections were also made of some others and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. The parasite specimens delt with here are all deposited in the collection of the National Science Museum, Tokyo

Paraphilopinna sp. (Digenea : Didymozoidae) parasitizing a freshwater fish, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Cobitidae), in eastern Hokkaido, Japan

Adult specimens of the genus Paraphilopinna Zhukov, 1971 (Digenea : Didymozoidae) are described from a freshwater fish, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Cantor) (Cobitidae), taken in Sarurunto in Shibecha, eastern Hokkaido, Japan. The site of infection is not known. They are morphologically different from the type species P. fluvialis Zhukov, 1971 found in M. anguillicaudatus from northeastern China. They remain to be identified to species
