Community Detection and Growth Potential Prediction Using the Stochastic Block Model and the Long Short-term Memory from Patent Citation Networks

Scoring patent documents is very useful for technology management. However, conventional methods are based on static models and, thus, do not reflect the growth potential of the technology cluster of the patent. Because even if the cluster of a patent has no hope of growing, we recognize the patent is important if PageRank or other ranking score is high. Therefore, there arises a necessity of developing citation network clustering and prediction of future citations. In our research, clustering of patent citation networks by Stochastic Block Model was done with the aim of enabling corporate managers and investors to evaluate the scale and life cycle of technology. As a result, we confirmed nested SBM is appropriate for graph clustering of patent citation networks. Also, a high MAPE value was obtained and the direction accuracy achieved a value greater than 50% when predicting growth potential for each cluster by using LSTM.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1904.1204

Community Detection and Growth Potential Prediction from Patent Citation Networks

The scoring of patents is useful for technology management analysis. Therefore, a necessity of developing citation network clustering and prediction of future citations for practical patent scoring arises. In this paper, we propose a community detection method using the Node2vec. And in order to analyze growth potential we compare three ''time series analysis methods'', the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), ARIMA model, and Hawkes Process. The results of our experiments, we could find common technical points from those clusters by Node2vec. Furthermore, we found that the prediction accuracy of the ARIMA model was higher than that of other models.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1607.00653 by other author

Resection of Segments 4, 5 and 8 for a Cystic Liver Tumor Using the Double Liver Hanging Maneuver

To achieve complete anatomic central hepatectomy for a large tumor compressing surrounding vessels, transection by an anterior approach is preferred but a skillful technique is necessary. We propose the modified technique of Belghiti's liver hanging maneuver (LHM). The case was a 77-year-old female with a 6-cm liver cystic tumor in the central liver compressing hilar vessels and the right hepatic vein. At the hepatic hilum, the spaces between Glisson's pedicle and hepatic parenchyma were dissected, which were (1) the space between the right anterior and posterior Glisson pedicles and (2) the space adjacent to the umbilical Glisson pedicle. Two tubes were repositioned in each space and ‘double LHM’ was possible at the two resected planes of segments 4, 5 and 8. Cut planes were easily and adequately obtained and the compressed vessels were secured. Double LHM is a useful surgical technique for hepatectomy for a large tumor located in the central liver

3D Relativistic Hydrodynamic Computations Using Lattice-QCD-Inspired Equations of State

In this communication, we report results of three-dimensional hydrodynamic computations, by using equations of state with a critical end point as suggested by the lattice QCD. Some of the results are an increase of the multiplicity in the mid-rapidity region and a larger elliptic-flow parameter v2. We discuss also the effcts of the initial-condition fluctuations and the continuous emission.Comment: 10 pages, 16 figures, prepared for Quark Matter 2005 Conferenc

Basic fibroblast growth factor promotes the generation of microtubule-associated protein 2-positive cells from microglia

We recently demonstrated that microglia as multipotential stem cells give rise to microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2)-positive and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)-positive cells and that microglia-derived MAP2-positive cells possess properties of functional neurons. In this study, we investigated the role of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling in the molecular mechanism underlying the generation of microglia-derived MAP2-positive and GFAP-positive cells. Real-time quantitative PCR analyses demonstrated that mRNA levels of a family of three FGF receptors, Fgfr1-3, were upregulated in microglia treated with 70% fetal bovine serum (FBS). Immunocytochemical analyses demonstrated that basic FGF (bFGF) promoted the generation of microglia-derived MAP2-positive and GFAP-positive cells, and the FGF receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor SU5402 and the MEK inhibitor PD98059 both inhibited this process. Western blot analyses demonstrated that bFGF increased phosphorylated ERK1/2 levels without altering total ERK1/2 levels. These results suggest that bFGF promotes the generation of microglia-derived MAP2-positive and GFAP-positive cells via FGF receptors and the ERK-MAP kinase pathway
