ab initio Study of Strain-Induced Ferroelectricity in SrTiO3

Valley lines on total-energy surfaces for the zone-center distortions of free-standing and in-plane strained SrTiO3 are investigated with a newly developed first-principles structure optimization technique [Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. vol.43 (2004), p.6785]. The results of numerical calculations confirmed that the ferroelectricity is induced, and the Curie temperature is increased, by applying biaxial compressive or tensile strains. Ab initio Study of Valley Line on a Total-Energy Surface for Zone-Center Distortions of Ferroelectric Perovskite Oxides BaTiO3 and PbTiO3

An ab initio structure optimization technique is newly developed to determine the valley line on a total-energy surface for zone-center distortions of ferroelectric perovskite oxides and is applied to barium titanate BaTiO3 and lead titanate PbTiO3. The proposed technique is an improvement over King-Smith and Vanderbilt's scheme [Phys. Rev. B 49, p.5828 (1994)] of evaluating total energy as a function of the amplitude of atomic displacements. The results of numerical calculations show that total energy can be expressed as a fourth-order function of the amplitude of atomic displacements in BaTiO3 but not in PbTiO3.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure

Curcumin (1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1, 6-heptadiene-3,5-dione) Blocks the Chemotaxis of Neutrophils by Inhibiting Signal Transduction through IL-8 Receptors

We investigated the impact of curcumin on neutrophils. Chemotactic activity via human recombinant IL-8 (hrIL-8) was significantly inhibited by curcumin. Curcumin reduced calcium ion flow induced by internalization of the IL-8 receptor. We analyzed flow cytometry to evaluate the status of the IL-8 receptor after curcumin treatment. The change in the distribution of receptors intracellularly and on the cell surface suggested that curcumin may affect the receptor trafficking pathway intracellulary. Rab11 is a low molecular weight G protein associated with the CXCR recycling pathway. Following curcumin treatment, immunoprecipitation studies showed that the IL-8 receptor was associated with larger amounts of active Rab11 than that in control cells. These data suggest that curcumin induces the stacking of the Rab11 vesicle complex with CXCR1 and CXCR2 in the endocytic pathway. The mechanism for antiinflammatory response by curcumin may involve unique regulation of the Rab11 trafficking molecule in recycling of IL-8 receptors

Entre as letras de rap escolhidas para a análise - "Die Gretchenfrage" da rapper austríaca Yasmo, "Die Freundin von" da rapper alemã Sookee, "Sand in die Augen" do rapper alemão Danger Dan e "Gelernt" da banda Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi - há algumas cantadas a partir de uma perspectiva masculina. Após uma discussão teórica sobre as particularidades do gênero textual rap e dos questionamentos atuais sobre a inserção desse gênero em livros didáticos e em sala de aula, apresenta-se uma análise das quatro letras de rap que compõem o corpus. Essa análise leva em consideração discursos feministas da atualidade e baseia-se no método de análise discursiva de textos em língua alemã proposto por Claus Altmayer (2007), assim como no conceito de Letramento Crítico. Baseado na análise realizada, o trabalho mostra que as mulheres são retratadas em situação de vulnerabilidade e ao mesmo tempo também de empoderamento. O presente trabalho almeja responder às seguintes perguntas de pesquisa: Que relevância didática possuem letras de raps feministas para o ensino de ALE em contexto brasileiro? Quais padrões de interpretação da imagem das mulheres podem ser reconstruídos em letras de rap feministas? De que forma as letras de rap feministas podem ser usadas para tematizar a igualdade de gênero em sala de aula de ALE? Rap.Abstract: The present work aims to analyze the representation of women in feminist rap lyrics and how these could be taught in the Brazilian context of teaching German as a Foreign Language (GFL). Among the rap lyrics chosen for analysis - "Die Gretchenfrage" from Austrian Rapper Yasmo, "Die Freundin von" from German Rapper Sookee, "Sand in die Augen" from German Rapper Danger Dan and "Gelernt" from the diverse band Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi - there are some sung from a male perspective. After a theoretical discussion about the particularities of the rap as a textual genre and the current questions about the insertion of this genre in textbooks and in the classroom, an analysis of the four rap lyrics that make up the corpus is presented. This analysis considers feminist discourses today and is based on the method of discursive analysis of texts in German language proposed by Claus Altmayer (2007), as well as on the concept of Critical Literacy. Based on the analysis performed, the present work shows that women are portrayed in a situation of vulnerability and empowerment at the same time. This work aims to answer the following research questions: What didactic relevance do feminist rap lyrics have for teaching GFL in the Brazilian context? What patterns of women's image interpretation can be reconstructed in feminist rap lyrics? How can feminist rap lyrics be used to address gender equality in the GFL classroom? Finally, some exercises for the insertion of rap lyrics analyzed in the present work in the teaching of GFL in a Brazilian context are proposed. Keywords: German as a foreign language. RapZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit soll untersucht werden, wie Frauen in feministischen Raptexten vertreten sind und wie diese Texte für den brasilianischen Kontext des Unterrichts von Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) verwendet werden können. Unter den für die Analyse ausgewählten Raptexten "Die Gretchenfrage" der österreichischen Rapperin Yasmo, "Die Freundin von" der deutschen Rapperin Sookee, "Sand in die Augen" des deutschen Rapper Danger Dan und "Gelernt" der Band Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi gibt es einige, die aus einer männlichen Sicht gesungen sind. Nach einer theoretischen Diskussion über die Besonderheiten des Rap als Textsorte und die aktuellen Fragen zur Einfügung dieser Textsorte in Lehrwerken und im Klassenzimmer folgt eine Analyse der vier Raptexte, aus denen das Korpus dieser Masterarbeit besteht. Diese Analyse berücksichtigt die heutigen feministischen Debatten und basiert auf dem von Claus Altmayer (2007) vorgeschlagenen Verfahren der diskursiven Analyse von Texten in deutscher Sprache sowie auf dem Konzept des "Letramento Crítico". Basierend auf der durchgeführten Analyse zeigt die Arbeit, dass Frauen oft als verletztlich und gleichzeitig machtvoll dargestellt werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit zielt darauf ab, die folgenden Forschungsfragen zu beantworten: Welchen didaktischen Mehrwert haben feministische deutschsprachige Raptexte für den DaFUnterricht im brasilianischen Raum? Welche Deutungsmuster zum Frauenbild lassen sich in feministischen deutschsprachigen Raptexten rekonstruieren? Inwiefern können feministische Raptexte dazu beitragen, die Debatte über Geschlechtergleichstellung im DaF-Unterricht zu thematisieren? Anschließend werden einige Möglichkeiten zum Einsatz von Raptexten vorgeschlagen, die in der vorliegenden Arbeit zum DaF-Unterricht im brasilianischen Kontext analysiert wurden. Cryptococcus gattii Genotype VGIIa Infection in Man, Japan, 2007

We report a patient in Japan infected with Cryptococcus gattii genotype VGIIa who had no recent history of travel to disease-endemic areas. This strain was identical to the Vancouver Island outbreak strain R265. Our results suggest that this virulent strain has spread to regions outside North America

Osteoconductivity of hydrothermally synthesized beta-tricalcium phosphate composed of rod-shaped particles under mechanical unloading

Spherical beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) granules synthesized using a unique dropping slurry method expressed good osteoconductivity with prominent bone apposition and bioresorbability when implanted into the rat femur (Gonda et al, Key Eng. Mater. 361-363:1013-1016, 2008). The spherical β-TCP granules were implanted into the bone defect created in the distal end of the right femur of each 8-week-old female Wistar rat. To analyze performance of the spherical β-TCP granules as bone substitute in the bone with reduction in osteogenic potential, the right sciatic neurectomy was performed after implantation and the right hind limb was kept unloaded for 2 weeks before euthanization. Four weeks after implantation, some spherical β-TCP granules with resorption in part were surrounded by newly formed bone. Eight and 12 weeks after implantation, most of the residual β-TCP granules were embedded in newly formed bone, and total volume of the implant and newly formed bone was more than the other portions of the bone or the bone of control animals. Osteoclast activity in the implanted area was also higher than the other portions of the bone or the bone of control animals. Replacement of the intraosseous residual β-TCP granules for bone progressed at 12 weeks after implantation compared to those at 8 weeks after implantation. These data suggested that the spherical β-TCP granules stimulated osteogenesis and osteoclast activity of the unloaded bone

Crystal structure of the anion exchanger domain of human erythrocyte band 3

Anion exchanger 1 (AE1), also known as band 3 or SLC4A1, plays a key role in the removal of carbon dioxide from tissues by facilitating the exchange of chloride and bicarbonate across the plasma membrane of erythrocytes. An isoform of AE1 is also present in the kidney. Specific mutations in human AE1 cause several types of hereditary hemolytic anemias and/or distal renal tubular acidosis. Here we report the crystal structure of the band 3 anion exchanger domain (AE1CTD) at 3.5 angstroms. The structure is locked in an outward-facing open conformation by an inhibitor. Comparing this structure with a substrate-bound structure of the uracil transporter UraA in an inward-facing conformation allowed us to identify the anion-binding position in the AE1CTD, and to propose a possible transport mechanism that could explain why selected mutations lead to disease

Background: Management of abdominal branches associated with Stanford type B aortic dissection is controversial without definite criteria for therapy after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). This is in part due to lack of data on natural history related to branch vessels and their relationship with the dissection flap, true lumen, and false lumen. Purpose: To investigate the natural history of abdominal branches after TEVAR for type B aortic dissection and the relationship between renal artery anatomy and renal volume as a surrogate measure of perfusion. Materials and Methods: This study included patients who underwent TEVAR for complicated type B dissection from January 2012 to March 2017 at 20 centers. Abdominal aortic branches were classified with following features: patency, branch vessel origin, and presence of extension of the aortic dissection into a branch (pattern 1, supplied by the true lumen without branch dissection; pattern 2, supplied by the true lumen with branch dissection, etc). The branch artery patterns before TEVAR were compared with those of the last follow-up CT (mean interval, 19.7 months) for spontaneous healing. Patients with one kidney supplied by pattern 1 and the other kidney by a different pattern were identified, and kidney volumes over the course were compared by using a simple linear regression model. Results: Two hundred nine patients (mean age ± standard deviation, 66 years ± 13; 165 men and 44 women; median follow-up, 18 months) were included. Four hundred fifty-nine abdominal branches at the last follow-up were evaluable. Spontaneous healing of the dissected branch occurred in 63% (64 of 102) of pattern 2 branches. Regarding the other patterns, 6.5% (six of 93) of branches achieved spontaneous healing. In 79 patients, renal volumes decreased in kidneys with pattern 2 branches with more than 50% stenosis and branches supplied by the aortic false lumen (patterns 3 and 4) compared with contralateral kidneys supplied by pattern 1 (pattern 2 vs pattern 1: −16% ± 16 vs 0.10% ± 11, P = .002; patterns 3 and 4 vs pattern 1: −13% ± 14 vs 8.5% ± 14, P = .004). Conclusion: Spontaneous healing occurs more frequently in dissected branches arising from the true lumen than in other branch patterns. Renal artery branches supplied by the aortic false lumen or a persistently dissected artery with greater than 50% stenosis are associated with significantly greater kidney volume loss.博士（医学）・乙第1461号・令和2年6月30日Copyright © 2019 by authors and RSNA.
