Anomaly Detection in Vehicular CAN Bus Using Message Identifier Sequences
As the automotive industry moves forward, security of vehicular networks becomes increasingly important. Controller area network (CAN bus) remains as one of the most widely-used protocols for in-vehicle communication. In this work, we study an intrusion detection system (IDS) which detects anomalies in vehicular CAN bus traffic by analyzing message identifier sequences. We collected CAN bus data from a heavy-duty truck over a period of several months. First, we identify the properties of CAN bus traffic which enable the described approach, and demonstrate that they hold in different datasets collected from different vehicles. Then, we perform an experimental study of the IDS, using the collected CAN bus data and procedurally generated attacks. We analyze the performance of the IDS, considering various attack types and hyperparameter values. The analysis yields promising sensitivity and specificity values, as well as very fast decision times and acceptable memory footprint.</p
Effects of Nebivolol on Endothelial Function and Exercise Parameters in Patients with Slow Coronary Flow
Objective Earlier studies have reported that a decrease in exercise capacity might indicate endothelial dysfunction. However, the effects of improvement of endothelial functions on exercise capacity have not been evaluated. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of nebivolol on flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), and on the exercise capacities of the patients with slow coronary flow (SCF). Methods The study population included 25 subjects with SCF (Group 1) documented by the thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) frame count, and 25 control group (Group 2) subjects with normal coronary angiography, for a total of 50 subjects who underwent coronary angiography due to several indications and had no coronary lesion. The TIMI frame count (TFC) values of the subjects in Group I for left anterior descending artery, right coronary, and circumflex coronary artery were 61.8 ± 30.6, 37.2 ± 17.4, and 34.6 ± 17.4, respectively. All the subjects received nebivolol 5 mg/day. Results At the end of the first month of FMD, the mean exercise duration (MED) and the Duke Scores of the patients with SCF were significantly higher than the baseline values. However, the values by the sixth month did not differ from that at the first month. Although a numerical improvement compared to the baseline values was observed for the subjects in Group 2 by the measurements at the end of the first and the sixth month, this difference was not statistically significant. Conclusions Nebivolol treatment increases FMD in the subjects with SCF. The difference in the exercise parameters of these subjects is particularly dramatic, and such an outcome may indirectly indicate long-term improvement in endothelial function
All unitary cubic curvature gravities in D dimensions
We construct all the unitary cubic curvature gravity theories built on the
contractions of the Riemann tensor in D -dimensional (anti)-de Sitter
spacetimes. Our construction is based on finding the equivalent quadratic
action for the general cubic curvature theory and imposing ghost and tachyon
freedom, which greatly simplifies the highly complicated problem of finding the
propagator of cubic curvature theories in constant curvature backgrounds. To
carry out the procedure we have also classified all the unitary quadratic
models. We use our general results to study the recently found cubic curvature
theories using different techniques and the string generated cubic curvature
gravity model. We also study the scattering in critical gravity and give its

Critical Points of D-Dimensional Extended Gravities
We study the parameter space of D-dimensional cosmological Einstein gravity
together with quadratic curvature terms. In D>4 there are in general two
distinct (anti)-de Sitter vacua. We show that for appropriate choice of the
parameters there exists a critical point for one of the vacua, for which there
are only massless tensor, but neither massive tensor nor scalar, gravitons. At
criticality, the linearized excitations have vanishing energy (as do black hole
solutions). A further restriction of the parameters gives a one-parameter
cosmological Einstein plus Weyl^2 model with a unique vacuum, whose \Lambda is

Cytotoxic properties of the stem bark of Citrus reticulata Blanco (Rutaceae)
The bioassay-guided fractionation of the n-hexane extract of Citrus reticulata Blanco (Rutaceae) stem bark yielded scoparone (1), xanthyletin (2), lupeol (3), β-amyrin (4), stigmasterol (5), β-sitosterol (6) and palmitic acid. The structures of these compounds were determined by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses, i.e., 1D and 2D NMR and EI-MS, and by comparison with the reported data. Extracts, fractions and isolated compounds 1-6 were assessed for cytotoxicity by the MTT assay against three human cancer cell lines, i.e., human lung adenocarcinoma cell line A549, human breast adenocarcinoma cell line MCF7 and human Caucasian prostate adenocarcinoma cell line PC3. Significant activity of the n-hexane and the dichloromethane extracts was observed against the breast cancer cell line MCF7 with IC50s of 45.6 and 54.7 μg/mL, respectively. Moreover, the 70% ethyl acetate in n-hexane chromatographic fraction showed significant activity displaying IC50 values of 53.0, 52.4 and 49.1 μg/mL against the cancer cell lines A549, MCF7 and PC3, respectively. Encouragingly, an IC50 of 510.0 µg/mL against the human normal prostate cell line PNT2 indicated very low toxicity, and hence favourable selectivity indices for the 70% ethyl acetate in n-hexane fraction in the range of 9.6-10.4 towards cell lines A549, MCF7 and PC3. Since compounds isolated from the above fraction only delivered IC50 values in the range of 18.2-96.3, 9.2-34.1 and 7.5-97.2 μg/mL against A549, MCF7 and PC3 cell lines, respectively, synergistic action between compounds is suggested. Bioassay results valorize the anticancer effectivity of the stem bark of this plant in Cameroonian pharmacopeia
A simple approach for the fabrication of 3D microelectrodes for impedimetric sensing
In this paper, we present a very simple method to fabricate three-dimensional (3D) microelectrodes integrated with microfluidic devices. We form the electrodes by etching a microwire placed across a microchannel. For precise control of the electrode spacing, we employ a hydrodynamic focusing microfluidic device and control the width of the etching solution stream. The focused widths of the etchant solution and the etching time determine the gap formed between the electrodes. Using the same microfluidic device, we can fabricate integrated 3D electrodes with different electrode gaps. We have demonstrated the functionality of these electrodes using an impedimetric particle counting setup. Using 3D microelectrodes with a diameter of 25 μm, we have detected 6 μm-diameter polystyrene beads in a buffer solution as well as erythrocytes in a PBS solution. We study the effect of electrode spacing on the signal-to-noise ratio of the impedance signal and we demonstrate that the smaller the electrode spacing the higher the signal obtained from a single microparticle. The sample stream is introduced to the system using the same hydrodynamic focusing device, which ensures the alignment of the sample in between the electrodes. Utilising a 3D hydrodynamic focusing approach, we force all the particles to go through the sensing region of the electrodes. This fabrication scheme not only provides a very low-cost and easy method for rapid prototyping, but which can also be used for applications requiring 3D electric field focused through a narrow section of the microchannel. © 2015 IOP Publishing Ltd
Modelling of the effect of scale on the compressibility parameters of fine-grained soils
The effect of sample scale represents a challenge when obtaining engineering parameters in the laboratory compared to those obtained in the field. This study aimed at contributing to existing knowledge numerically using the finite element software PLAXIS 2D. The investigations were analysed in terms of height scale (HS) and diameter scale (DS) through a series of laboratory tests. Its effect on compressibility parameters such as coefficient of consolidation (cv) was noted experimentally and showed that the sample scale greatly influences soil parameters most particularly at DS. The soil behaviour was found to be dependent on both DS and HS with a correlation factor of 0.650 and 0.062, respectively. The experimental data were validated in PLAXIS and a new proposed model was developed in PLAXIS 2D under the DS. The new proposed model developed was found to show no significant difference with the laboratory data
