Definition of a crowdsourcing innovation service for the european SMEs
Based on literature review and on the study of the most known and referred Crowdsourcing brokers, there's a clear trend to implement this model by large companies and mainly within the North American context. Our research team is focused in bringing this approach closer to the European culture, more specifically the cultural factors underlying the dynamics and motivation of communities available to solve the innovation challenges of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), that we call Crowdsourcing Innovation. We believe that, due to the common lack of resources for innovation in these companies, a service capable of involving them in large networks filled with useful and reachable knowledge, and capable of supporting these companies through all the innovation process, is crucial to the future competitiveness of the European SMEs. Although our team is focusing on several aspects related to Crowdsourcing, my main research focuses the information services and supporting applications to create a web platform adapted to the key economical, organizational, legal and cultural differences that make current Crowdsourcing Innovation businesses less popular among European SMEs than in North America.- (undefined
South African NGOs and the public sphere: between popular movements and partnerships for development.
This article examines the widespread notion that post-apartheid democracy can be deepened and civil society strengthened by NGO activities in the sphere of public debate and participation. I focus on a number of interrelated processes which I argue may compromise NGOs' ability to expand the public sphere: first, donors' overwhelming focus on NGOs as the sole representative of civil society may contribute to a homogenous and institutionalised public sphere; second, the tendency for NGOs to be drawn into partnerships with government bodies and corporate sponsors casts doubt on their ability to open up spaces for critical public debate. By directing attention to popular movements as potentially offering a site for the production of critique, NGOs' relationships to such movements are examined. It is argued that attention must be paid to the processes of NGO-isation and reformism by which NGOs themselves come to define what civil society should be and may consequently contain counterpublic spheres
Radiative Decays of Excited Baryons in the Bound State Picture
It is shown that, in the bound state picture, the and decays are severely
suppressed. On the other hand, for their bottom counterparts, which are
predicted to have masses 5900 and 5926 MeV respectively, may have significant
radiative branching ratio. In particular, the
mode may even dominate over the strong
decay mode. The isospin allowed mode is

One-pion transitions between heavy baryons in the constituent quark model
Single pion transitions of S wave to S wave, P wave to S wave and P wave to P
wave heavy baryons are analyzed in the framework of the Heavy Quark Symmetry
limit (HQS). We use a constituent quark model picture for the light diquark
system with an underlying SU(2N_{f}) X O(3) symmetry to reduce the number of
the HQS coupling factors required to describe these transitions. We also use
the quantum theory of angular momentum to rewrite the one-pion transitions
constituent quark model results in a more general form using the 6j- and
9j-symbols. We finally estimate the decay rates of some single pion transitions

Stochastic Model for Surface Erosion Via Ion-Sputtering: Dynamical Evolution from Ripple Morphology to Rough Morphology
Surfaces eroded by ion-sputtering are sometimes observed to develop
morphologies which are either ripple (periodic), or rough (non-periodic). We
introduce a discrete stochastic model that allows us to interpret these
experimental observations within a unified framework. We find that a periodic
ripple morphology characterizes the initial stages of the evolution, whereas
the surface displays self-affine scaling in the later time regime. Further, we
argue that the stochastic continuum equation describing the surface height is a

Interface Scaling in the Contact Process
Scaling properties of an interface representation of the critical contact
process are studied in dimensions 1 - 3. Simulations confirm the scaling
relation beta_W = 1 - theta between the interface-width growth exponent beta_W
and the exponent theta governing the decay of the order parameter. A scaling
property of the height distribution, which serves as the basis for this
relation, is also verified. The height-height correlation function shows clear
signs of anomalous scaling, in accord with Lopez' analysis [Phys. Rev. Lett.
83, 4594 (1999)], but no evidence of multiscaling.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figure

Region graph partition function expansion and approximate free energy landscapes: Theory and some numerical results
Graphical models for finite-dimensional spin glasses and real-world
combinatorial optimization and satisfaction problems usually have an abundant
number of short loops. The cluster variation method and its extension, the
region graph method, are theoretical approaches for treating the complicated
short-loop-induced local correlations. For graphical models represented by
non-redundant or redundant region graphs, approximate free energy landscapes
are constructed in this paper through the mathematical framework of region
graph partition function expansion. Several free energy functionals are
obtained, each of which use a set of probability distribution functions or
functionals as order parameters. These probability distribution
function/functionals are required to satisfy the region graph
belief-propagation equation or the region graph survey-propagation equation to
ensure vanishing correction contributions of region subgraphs with dangling
edges. As a simple application of the general theory, we perform region graph
belief-propagation simulations on the square-lattice ferromagnetic Ising model
and the Edwards-Anderson model. Considerable improvements over the conventional
Bethe-Peierls approximation are achieved. Collective domains of different sizes
in the disordered and frustrated square lattice are identified by the
message-passing procedure. Such collective domains and the frustrations among
them are responsible for the low-temperature glass-like dynamical behaviors of

DN interaction from meson exchange
A model of the DN interaction is presented which is developed in close
analogy to the meson-exchange KbarN potential of the Juelich group utilizing
SU(4) symmetry constraints. The main ingredients of the interaction are
provided by vector meson (rho, omega) exchange and higher-order box diagrams
involving D*N, D\Delta, and D*\Delta intermediate states. The coupling of DN to
the pi-Lambda_c and pi-Sigma_c channels is taken into account. The interaction
model generates the Lambda_c(2595) resonance dynamically as a DN quasi-bound
state. Results for DN total and differential cross sections are presented and
compared with predictions of an interaction model that is based on the
leading-order Weinberg-Tomozawa term. Some features of the Lambda_c(2595)
resonance are discussed and the role of the near-by pi-Sigma_c threshold is
emphasized. Selected predictions of the orginal KbarN model are reported too.
Specifically, it is pointed out that the model generates two poles in the
partial wave corresponding to the Lambda(1405) resonance.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
