    Leukocyte Profile of Blood of Cows at Using “Leucozav” Against Leucosis of Cattle

    The development of specific medical forms for fighting against the tumor disease (cancer) of people and animals has the extremely important value. The preparation «ZG-2011» («Leucozav») was invented in 2000-2006 by research associates of SSI “State center of innovative biotechnologies” that forms in inoculated animals the specific anti-viral immunity that protects cattle from being infected by the leucosis causative agent. Analogues of this preparation in Ukraine are absent. The main aim of the study is the determination of “Leucozav” influence on morphologic parameters of blood (leukocyte profile) of clinically healthy cows and ones, infected by leucosis.The object of the study was blood of cattle (milk herd), considered as unfavorable as to leucosis.Blood samples were studied before administering “Leucozav” and after that. Serological and immunological research methods were used.At the experiment it was studied, that «Leucozav» administration to infected animals normalizes leukocytes number and the ratio of their separate forms in blood of cows. In blood samples, taken of healthy cows, the preparation administration doesn\u27t influence the leukocyte profile.This experiment gives grounds to recommend the newly created preparation«Leucozav» to cows with leucosis, because it normalizes the number of leukocytes and their ration in separate forms in blood of RID-positive cows that react positively at the immune diffusion reaction in the agar gel at the study of leucosis of cattle

    Prediction of sanding in subsurface hydrocarbon reservoirs.

    Sand production in oil and gas wells can occur if the fluid velocity exceeds a certain value. Due to drilling operations, the mechanical stresses can exceed the load bearing capacity of the rock. As the local stresses exceed certain level, a certain amount of rock is fractured into sand. Then, the sand is carried by the fluid through the wellbore depending on the flow rate. The amount of the solids can be less than a few grams per cubic meter of reservoir fluid or an essential amount. In the later case erosion of the rock and removing sufficient quantities of rock can occur. This can produce subsurface cavities which collapse and destroy the well. When sanding is unavoidable it is necessary to estimate the characteristics of the process. Our aim was to generate a simple one-dimensional local model, which predicts the volume of sanding, the radius and the porosity of the yielded zone. Such model will help the company in the development of complex 3D models

    Mathematical Modeling for Studying Microbial Processes – Some Examples

    Mathematical modeling may have different purposes in chemical and biochemical engineering sciences. One of them is to confirm or to reject kinetic models for certain processes, or to evaluate the importance of some transport phenomena on the net chemical or biochemical reaction rate. In the present paper different microbial processes are considered and modeled for evaluation of kinetic constants for batch and continuous processes accomplished by free and immobilized microbial cells. The practical examples are from the field of wastewater treatment and biosynthesis of products, like enzymes, lactic acid, gluconic acid, etc. By the aid of mathematical modeling the kinetics and the type of inhibition are specified for microbial wastewater denitrification and biodegradation of halogenated hydrocarbons. The importance of free and immobilized cells and their separate contribution to the overall microbial process is also evaluated for some fermentation processes: gluconic acid production, dichloroethane biodegradation, lactic acid fermentation and monochloroacetic acid biodegradation

    Biochemical, histological and histochemical changes in Aristichthys nobilis Rich. liver exposed to thiamethoxam

    Background and purpose: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of the insecticide thiamethoxam on some biochemical, histological and histochemical parameters of bighead carp liver (Aristichthys nobilis), which is an economically important fish species for aquaculture. Materials and methods: Different increasing concentrations of 6.6 mg l-1, 10 mg l-1 and 20 mg l-1 of the test chemical under laboratory conditions were tested for their toxicity on fish for 96. The hepatic activity of the enzymes lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT) and alanine aminotransferase (ALAT) were measured. In addition, the hepatic histological structure was observed for alterations, as well as the lipid content was observed by histochemical staining. Results: It was determined that the enzymatic activity of the exposed fish was increased compared to the control group (p<0.05). Furthermore, the enzymatic activity was increased proportionally to the increasing thiamethoxam concentrations. The histological lesions, which were observed in the liver parenchyma, were degenerative and necrotic. The degenerative alterations were as follows: granular, balloon and fatty degeneration. The necrotic alterations in the fish liver were associated with presence of karyopyknosis, karyorrehsis and karyolysis, respectively. The histological alterations in the liver blood vessels were hyperemia and lymphocyte proliferation. Along with the established histological changes in the liver parenchyma, we found presence of fatty degeneration in the hepatocytes using Sudan III staining on cryostat sections. Conclusions: Our study shows that there is a relation between the concentration of the insecticide and biochemical changes, as well the severity of expression of the histological and histochemical alterations in the bighead carp liver. Overall, such experiments could be successfully applied in research and monitoring programs to study the effects of pesticides on fish

    Hymenolepidid Cestodes from Grebes (Aves, Podicipedidae) in Ukraine: the Genus Confluaria

    Redescriptions of 5 species of the hymenolepidid cestodes from the genus Confluaria Ablasov in Spasskaja, 1966 recorded from grebes (Podicipedidae) in Ukraine are presented: Confluaria podicipina from Podiceps nigricollis; Confluaria furcifera from P. grisegena, P. cristatus and P. nigricollis; Confluaria pseudofurcifera (new geographical record) from P. cristatus; Confluaria capillaris from P. grisegena and P. nigricollis; Confluaria multistriata from Tachybaptus ruficollis. Confluaria krabbei sp. n. from T. ruficollis is described. It is differentiated from C. multistriata by possessing rostellar hooks with epiphyseal thickenings comprising both handle and guard and by the shorter cirrus-sac which does not reach the mid-line of the proglottis.Даны переописания 5 видов гименолепидид рода Confluaria Ablasov in Spasskaja, 1966, зарегистрированных у поганок в Украине: C. podicipina от Podiceps nigricollis; C. furcifera от P. nigricollis, P. grisеgena и P. cristatus; C. pseudofurcifera (регистрируется в Украине впервые) от P. cristatus; C. capillaris от P. grisеgena, P. nigricollis; C. multistriata от Tachybaptes ruficollis.     Do Young Russian Compatriots Living Abroad Need Our Support?

    The Russian authorities have begun to show great interest in their diverse Russian-speaking diaspora in the world and have proposed an official “Russkiy Mir” political strategy integrated into Russian foreign policy and policies towards Russian compatriots. The purpose of the article is to analyze the need of young Russian compatriots abroad in various forms of state and non – state support from Russia based on the questionnaire survey data. The article considers the results of a questionnaire survey of young Russian compatriots living abroad. The survey was conducted in 54 foreign countries. 2042 respondents aged from 14 to 30 years inclusive were interviewed. Most young Russian compatriots have formed a dual identity – Russian and the country of residence. Empirical data describing the need of young compatriots abroad in various forms of state and non-state support are obtained. Most young compatriots did not use measures of state and non-state support, low coverage of young compatriots by the events was established. The potential for consolidation is highlighted - the Russian language, the common historical and cultural heritage of Russia, viewing Russian media and television shows, as well as the development of economic ties

    Hymenolepidid Cestodes from Grebes (Aves, Podicipedidae) in Ukraine: the Genera Dollfusilepis and Parafimbriaria

    A redescription of Dollfusilepis hoploporus (Dollfus, 1951) based on specimens from Podiceps cristatus in Ukraine (new geographical record) is presented. This species is also recorded from the same host species in Turkmenistan (new geographical record). Dollfusilepis grisegenicus Vasileva, Kornyushin, Genov, sp. n. from Podiceps grisegena is described. It differs from the type-species of Dollfusilepis hoploporus mainly by the presence of rosethornshaped spines on the protrusible poral part of the cirrus-sac. The generic diagnosis of Dollfusilepis Vasileva, Georgiev, Genov, 1998 is amended. Parafimbriaria micracantha Gulyaev, 1990 is redescribed on the basis of specimens from P. nigricollis in Ukraine (new geographical record).Дано переописание Dollfusilepis hoploporus (Dollfus, 1951) по екземплярам от Podiceps cristatus из Украины (регистрируется впервые). Этот же вид впервые зарегистрирован в Туркменистане у того же хозяина. Описан новый вид Dollfusilepis grisegenicus Vasileva, Kornyushin, Genov, sp. n. io Podiceps grisegena, который отличается от типового вида рода, Б. hoploporus, в основном наличием вооружения в виде шипиков на выдвигающейся поральной части бурсы цирруса. Уточнен диагноз рода DolfUsilepis Уаєііеуа, Оеощіеу, Оепоу, 1998. Переописана Parafimbriaria micracantha Gulyaev, 1990 по материалу от Podiceps nigricollis из Украины
