    A new alloantigen, Ly-8, recognized by C3H anti-AKR serum

A new membrane alloantigen, designated Ly-8.2, is defined by a C3H anti-AKR serum. The locus, Ly-8 , which controls this determinant is not linked to Thy-1, Ly-4, Ly-6, H-2 , albino (c), or brown ( b ). Ly-8.2 has a unique strain distribution, and appears to be present on both T and B lymphocytes.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/46747/1/251_2005_Article_BF01576977.pd

Evidence for a third, Ir -associated histocompatibility region in the H-2 complex of the mouse

Skin grafts transplanted from B10.HTT donors onto (A.TL Ă— B10)F 1 recipients are rapidly rejected despite the fact that the B10.HTT and A.TL strains should be carrying the same H-2 chromosomes and that both the donor and the recipient contain the B10 genome. The rejection is accompanied by a production of cytotoxic antibodies against antigens controlled by the Ir region of the H-2 complex. These unexpected findings are interpreted as evidence for a third histocompatibility locus in the H-2 complex, H-2I , located in the Ir region close to H-2K . The B10.HTT and A.TL strains are postulated to differ at this hypothetical locus, and the difference between the two strains is explained as resulting from a crossing over between the H-2 t1 and H-2 s chromosomes in the early history of the B10.HTT strain. The H-2 genotypes of the B10.HTT and A.TL strains are assumed to be H-2K s Ir s / k Ss k H-2D d and H-2K s Ir k Ss k H-2D d , respectively. Thus, the H-2 chromosomes of the two strains differ only in a portion of the Ir region, including the H-2I locus. The B10.HTT( H-2 tt ) and B10.S(7R)( H-2 th ) strains differ in a relatively minor histocompatibility locus, possibly residing in the Tla region outside of the H-2 complex.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/46727/1/251_2005_Article_BF01564045.pd

MoO42- as a soluble inhibitor for Zn in neutral and alkaline solutions.

International audienceThe inhibitive action of soluble Na2MoO4 on the spontaneous reactivity of hot dip galvanized steel in 0.5 M NaCl was studied at pH 4–13 by a direct measurement of Zn dissolution rate in the flowing electrolyte and postmortem surface analysis. The stability and the composition of Mo-rich films depended on the solution pH and flow conditions. The inhibition efficiency of soluble Mo(VI) correlated with the composition of the films: Mo(V)-rich films were immediately formed under uniform flow at pH 6–12, and the inhibition efficiency of Mo(VI) in these conditions (>92%) was comparable with the efficiency of Cr(VI)

Percolation network of organo-modified layered double hydroxide platelets into polystyrene showing enhanced rheological and dielectric behavior

International audienceA hybrid organic inorganic layered double hydroxide incorporating 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid (AMPS) is characterized by means of XRD, FTIR, and XPS. The in situ polymerization is scrutinized by 13C CPMAS as well as by a set of XRD experiments with varying temperature. It is found that the in situ polymerization is complete at 200 °C, and the hybrid framework sustains temperatures as high as 350 °C. Direct incorporation of poly(AMPS) is reported and the resulting hybrid LDH phases studied. Subsequently, all generated hybrid platelets are used as organo-modified 2D-type filler dispersed into polystyrene (PS). An immiscible PS composite structure with salient gel-like viscoelastic properties is obtained after bulk polymerization. In the low-frequency region, the typical Newtonian flow behaviour of PS is found to change progressively against filler loading into a shear-thinning behaviour evidenced by a pseudo-plateau in the elastic and loss modulus curves and associated with a shift of the glass transition temperature of PS to higher temperature. It is interpreted by hybrid LDH platelet domains presenting a large interface with the polymer, thus having the effect of restricting the plastic deformation by obstructing polymer chain motion. Such dispersed hybrid LDH tactoids forming a three-dimensional percolated network are indirectly evidenced by the enhancement of the dielectric properties illustrated by an increase in bulk dc conductivity of about one order at room temperature and in the dissipation factor. The study shows that hybrid LDH assembly is of relevance in topical applications regarding mechanical reinforcement as well as electrostatic energy dissipation. © 2010 The Royal Society of Chemistry

A Fast Granular Method for Classifying Incomplete Inconsistent Data

Part 3: Big Data Analysis and Machine LearningInternational audienceToday extracting knowledge from “inferior quality” data that is characterized by incompleteness and inconsistency is an unavoidable and challenging topic in the field of data mining. In this paper, we propose a fast granular method to classify incomplete inconsistent data using attribute-value block technique. Firstly, a granulation model is constructed to provide a foundation for efficient computation. Secondly, an algorithm of acquiring classification rules is proposed and then an algorithm of minimizing rule sets is proposed, and with these proposed algorithms, a classification algorithm is designed to construct a rule-based classifier. Finally, we use the experiment results to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms
