Application of Neural Networks to the study of stellar model solutions

Artificial neural networks (ANN) have different applications in Astronomy, including data reduction and data mining. In this work we propose the use ANNs in the identification of stellar model solutions. We illustrate this method, by applying an ANN to the 0.8M⊙_\odot star CG Cyg B. Our ANN was trained using 60,000 different 0.8M⊙_\odot stellar models. With this approach we identify the models which reproduce CG Cyg B's position in the HR diagram. We observe a correlation between the model's initial metal and helium abundance which, in most cases, does not agree with a helium to metal enrichment ratio Δ\DeltaY/Δ\DeltaZ=2. Moreover, we identify a correlation between the model's initial helium/metal abundance and both its age and mixing-length parameter. Additionally, every model found has a mixing-length parameter below 1.3. This means that CG Cyg B's mixing-length parameter is clearly smaller than the solar one. From this study we conclude that ANNs are well suited to deal with the degeneracy of model solutions of solar type stars.Comment: Accepted for publication in New Astronom

To identify and critically analyse articles investigating boots and their influence on task performance within a tactical population.Design: Systematic ReviewMethod: This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and was conducted by two independent reviewers. The methodology and search strategies were detailed in a protocol published in advance. A comprehensive search of six databases was performed.Eligible articles were critically appraised, and a narrative synthesis was performed. Results: Two articles met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. The included studies were considered of good methodological quality and reported on firefighters. One of the investigations reported that rubber boots were heavier and significantly increased the chances of hazardous slips compared to leather boots. Similarly, in the second study, rubber boots had greater weight than leather ones, and the authors found a significant negative correlation between weight and gait performance. Conclusion: In a firefighting population, both weight and material used in boots should be considered, as rubber boots and heavyweight material negatively impact gait parameters and, consequently, task performance. However, the results of this review should be interpreted with caution.</div

Promoting the Health of Parents & Children: Addressing Perinatal Mental Health by Building Medical Provider Capacity Through Perinatal Psychiatry Access Programs

Mental health conditions are the most common obstetric complications of the perinatal period, impacting 1 in 5 individuals during pregnancy and the year following pregnancy. Perinatal mental health (PMH) conditions have deleterious effects on the health of perinatal individuals and their children, and are a leading and preventable cause of maternal mortality. Nevertheless, PMH conditions are underrecognized, underdiagnosed, and undertreated. To address these gaps, Massachusetts created the Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program (MCPAP) for Moms to build the capacity of frontline medical providers to address PMH conditions by providing education, consultation, and resources and referrals. MCPAP for Moms has emerged as a successful and scalable model with at least 25 states or organizations implementing or developing similar Perinatal Psychiatry Access Programs. This report summarizes the Perinatal Psychiatry Access Program model and its individual and national impact
