Methodological guide for determining the presence of asbestos fibres in rocks
The content of the presented methodological procedure is guidance on a suitable and reliable method of laboratory analysis of rocks and crushed aggregate for the presence of naturally occurring asbestos. The created methodology follows on from the Methodological guide for sampling to determine the presence of asbestos fibers in rocks, with which it is closely linked. Together, they represent the first methodological documents dealing with the issue of asbestos in rocks and aggregates within the Czech Republic
Influence of temperature on permeability and stress strain behaviour of granodiorite
Behaviour of rock samples in unaxial and triaxial stat of stress is influenced by a lot of factors as mineral composition and origin of the rock, degree of diagenesis etc. One of the important factors is temperature. Especially high temperature influences very strong the behaviour of the rocks. High temperature could be generated in varous ways in rock massif. The research results could be improved in solution of serious problematic of burning in tunnels, underground waste storage or modelling of temperature field in rock massif
It is natural to dream Artificial Dreams. Are dreams of Artificial Intelligence artificial, or natural? What is the difference between artificial and natural? This difference is given by language and by what can be grasped with words. Good Old-Fashioned AI (GOFAI) cannot create anything natural, whereas emergent AI can. Emergent phenomena are natural. What is the difference between the roles of an AI engineer in GOFAI and in emergent AI
Move or die: change in European catfish (
European catfish (Silurus glanis L.) is a large predatory fish native to
an extensive area in Europe. It has been introduced to its western and southern parts,
where it is considered an invasive species with a negative impact on native fishes.
European catfish is a territorial species exhibiting site fidelity. Cold water in winter
usually leads catfish to exhibit notably low activity. Nevertheless, our telemetric study
on 19 juvenile individuals of S. glanis provides information on their
unexpected high activity and displacement in winter. Our data reveal that these
behavioural changes were caused by oxygen deficiency. Our data also indicate that oxygen
deficits may induce migrations of this species
3D documentation of outcrop by laser scanner – Filtration of vegetation
This work deals with separation of vegetation from 3D data acquired by Terrestrial Laser Scanning for detecting more complex geological structures. Separation of vegetation is not an easy task. In many cases, the outcrop is not clear and the vegetation outgrows the outcrop. Therefore the separation of vegetation from 3D data is a task which requires adjustment of algorithms from image processing and remote sensing. By using cluster analysis and analysis of spectral behaviour we can detect vegetation from the rest of the scene and erase these points from the scene for detection of geological structures
Temporomandibular Point and Its 2D and 3D Models
The aim of study is creating the two dimensional plain modeling of temporomandibular point. Three different pressures and movements are evaluated
