Anchoring of development workings in a zone of influence of mining in case of the level anchoring system

    Get PDF
Regularities of the change of the stress-strain state of coal containing rock masses, depending on mining-geological factors, were revealed. These factors allow establishing rational parameters of anchoring of wall rocks to enhance the stability of development workings. Specific conditions of the deflected mode, displays of rock pressure, terms of maintenance depending on technological parameters are investigated. Researches allowed determining the degree of their development influence on the efficiency of application of the anchoring of the hollow making and will allow a reasonable application of anchoring certificates, provide stability of the rocks mining and reduce expenses on its realization and maintenance

The deflected mode, rock pressure manifestations, conditions of maintenance of mine workings depending on geological and technological parameters have been studied. Researches have allowed establishing the degree of these parameters impact on the effectiveness of anchoring of mine workings. The paper researches such aspects of the problem as rock pressures, terms of maintenance of mine workings, technological parameters and others. The authors consider the expediency of the introduction of anchor certificates which will allow for stability of the rock mining and a reduction of the expenses on realization and maintenance of mine workings

We report on the activities of the ``QCD Tools for heavy flavors and new physics searches'' working group of the Run II Workshop on QCD and Weak Bosons. The contributions cover the topics of improved parton showering and comparisons of Monte Carlo programs and resummation calculations, recent developments in Pythia, the methodology of measuring backgrounds to new physics searches, variable flavor number schemes for heavy quark electro-production, the underlying event in hard scattering processes, and the Monte Carlo MCFM for NLO processes.Comment: LaTeX, 47 pages, 41 figures, 10 tables, uses run2col.sty, to appear in the Proceedings of the Workshop on "QCD and Weak Boson Physics in Run II", Fermilab, March - November 199

Charm-sea Contribution to High-p_T \psi Production at the Fermilab Tevatron

The direct production of J/ψ(ψ)J/\psi(\psi') at large transverse momentum, pTMJ/ψp_T \gg M_{J/\psi}, at the Fermilab Tevatron is revisited. It is found that the sea-quark initiated processes dominate in the high-pTp_T region within the framework of color-singlet model, which is not widely realized. We think this finding is enlightening for further investigation on the charmonium production mechanism.Comment: Conclusions not changed, to appear in J. of Phys.

Light Stop NLSPs at the Tevatron and LHC

How light can the stop be given current experimental constraints? Can it still be lighter than the top? In this paper, we study this and related questions in the context of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking, where a stop NLSP decays into a W, b and gravitino. Focusing on the case of prompt decays, we simulate several existing Tevatron and LHC analyses that would be sensitive to this scenario, and find that they allow the stop to be as light as 150 GeV, mostly due to the large top production background. With more data, the existing LHC analyses will be able to push the limit up to at least 180 GeV. We hope this work will motivate more dedicated experimental searches for this simple scenario, in which, for most purposes, the only free parameters are the stop mass and lifetime.Comment: 31 pages, 11 figures; v2: added minor clarifications and reference

Prospect for Searches for Gluinos and Squarks at a Tevatron Tripler

    Get PDF
We examine the discovery potential for SUSY new physics at a p{\bar p} collider upgrade of Tevatron with \sqrt s = 5.4 TeV and luminosity L ~= 4\times 10^{32} cm^{-2}s^{-1} (the Tripler). We consider the reach for gluinos and squarks using the experimental signatures with large missing transverse energy (\met) of jets + \met and 1l + jets + \met (where l=electron or muon) within the framework of minimal supergravity. The Tripler's strongest reach for the gluino is 1060 GeV for the jets + \met channel and 1140 GeV for the 1l + jets + \met channel for 30 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity (approximately two years running time). This is to be compared with the Tevatron where the reach is 440(460) GeV in the jets + \met channel for 15(30) fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity.Comment: 17 pages, latex, 7 figure

    Squark Mixing in Electron-Positron Reactions

Squark mixing plays a large role in the phenomenology of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, determining the mass of the lightest Higgs boson and the electroweak interactions of the squarks themselves. We examine how mixing may be investigated in high energy e+ee^+ e^- reactions, both at LEP-II and the proposed linear collider. In particular, off-diagonal production of one lighter and one heavier squark allows one to measure the squark mixing angle, and would allow one to test the mass relations for the light Higgs boson. In some cases off-diagonal production may provide the best prospects to discover supersymmetry. In the context of the light bottom squark scenario, we show that existing data from LEP-II should show definitive evidence for the heavier bottom squark provided that its mass mb~2120m_{\tilde{b}_2} \le 120 GeV.Comment: 22 pages, latex, 6 figure

The main focus of this working group was to investigate the different issues associated with the development of quantitative tools to estimate parton distribution functions uncertainties. In the conclusion, we introduce a "Manifesto" that describes an optimal method for reporting data.Comment: Report of the Parton Distributions Working Group of the 'QCD and Weak Boson Physics workshop in preparation for Run II at the Fermilab Tevatron'.
