Wsparcie bibliotek akademickich w działaniach uczelni na rzecz ewaluacji – rekonesans
Abstract: University libraries are constantly adapting to universities and entering new fields of activity that change their role and status in the university system. The Constitution for Science has brought tremendous changes to the evaluation of universities. The aim of this paper is to explore how libraries of general universities have implemented the evaluation process, which tools they have been using and how this has affected their organisational structure. The broader context of the issue is constituted by the results of a survey, supplemented by a case study of the Main Library of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
Monodispersed Chromium(III) Hydroxide Particles – Exchangeability of Sulphate Ions
Kinetics of ligand exchange between sulphate ions (present in the core of monodispersed chromium hydroxide particles in the form of chromium basic sulphate) and hydroxyl ions has been studied. In addition, the effect of pH on the extent of this exchange has been investigated. Preliminary results showed that the rate of exchange is relatively high and substantially exceeds the rate for water exchange described in the literature for soluble [Cr(H2O)6]3+ species. This observation contradicts the suggestion by some authors1 that the rate of SO42-/OH- ligand exchange at the solid/liquid interface is very slow

Macrolide- and Telithromycin-resistant Streptococcus pyogenes, Belgium, 1999–20031
We found a 13% macrolide resistance in 3,866 Streptococcus pyogenes isolated from tonsillopharyngitis patients; 59% macrolide-resistant isolates were distributed in 5 clones, suggesting the importance of both resistance gene transfer and clonal dissemination in the spread of these organisms. We also report one of the largest collections of telithromycin-resistant isolates
Eliciting health state utilities for Dupuytren's contracture using a discrete choice experiment
Background and purpose An internet-based discrete choice
experiment (DCE) was conducted to elicit preferences for a wide
range of Dupuytren’s contracture (DC)-related health states. An
algorithm was subsequently developed to convert these preferences
into health state utilities that can be used to assess DC’s
impact on quality of life and the value of its treatments.
Methods Health state preferences for varying levels of DC
hand severity were elicited via an internet survey from a sample
of the UK adult population. Severity levels were deined using a
combination of contractures (0, 45, or 90 degrees) in 8 proximal
interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal joints of the index,
middle, ring, and little ingers. Right-handed, left-handed, and
ambidextrous respondents indicated which hand was preferable
in each of the 10 randomly-selected hand-pairings comparing
different DC severity levels. For consistency across comparisons,
anatomically precise digital hand drawings were used. To anchor
preferences onto the traditional 0–1 utility scale used in health
economic evaluations, unaffected hands were assigned a utility
of 1.0 whereas the utility for a maximally affected hand (i.e., all
8 joints set at 90 degrees of contracture) was derived by asking
respondents to indicate what combination of attributes and levels
of the EQ-5D-5L proile most accurately relects the impact of
living with such hand. Conditional logistic models were used to
estimate indirect utilities, then rescaled to the anchor points on
the EQ-5D-5L.
Results Estimated utilities based on the responses of 1,745
qualiied respondents were 0.49, 0.57, and 0.63 for completely
affected dominant hands, non-dominant hands, or ambidextrous
hands, respectively. Utility for a dominant hand with 90-degree
contracture in t h e metacarpophalangeal joints of the ring and
little ingers was estimated to be 0.89. Separately, reducing the
contracture of metacarpophalangeal joint for a little inger from
50 to 12 degrees would improve utility by 0.02.
Interpretation DC is associated with substantial utility decrements.
The algorithms presented herein provide a robust and lexible
framework to assess utility for varying degrees of DC severity
Accounting profession deregulation – who gains and who loses?
Wejście w życie z dniem 10 sierpnia 2014 r. Ustawy o ułatwieniu dostępu do wykonywania niektórych zawodów regulowanych dało możliwość usługowego prowadzenia ksiąg rachunkowych praktycznie każdej zainteresowanej osobie. Entry into force with effect from 08.10.2014 act to facilitate access to performcertain regulated professions made it possible to provide bookkeeping services virtually any interested person. This situation has an impact both on the labour market from the demand side and the supply side, not only in the context of accounting but also the educational services market. The aim of this article is to identify the entities that will benefit and those who lose as a result of the deregulation of the accounting profession. In both cases will be indicated potential effects that would be seen in the near future in the labour market. Therefore, you can take the following hypothesis: the deregulation of the accounting profession will benefit the market for accounting services including educational services. This hypothesis in result of the deliberations has been verified positively
A Computer Program User and a User within the Meaning of the Civil Code
Oprogramowanie komputerowe stało się elementem codzienności. Przybiera różne formy, przede wszystkim oprogramowania komputerów osobistych i smartfonów. Potocznie o osobach korzystających z tego rodzaju urządzeń oraz oprogramowania mówi się „użytkownicy”. Pojęcie użytkownika, a właściwie użytkowanie, zostało zdefiniowane w Kodeksie cywilnym. O użytkowniku oprogramowania w znaczeniu zgodnym z kodeksem cywilnym mówimy w przypadkach, kiedy podmiot uprawniony do korzystania jest użytkownikiem autorskich praw majątkowych. W przypadku zdecydowanej większości użytkowników programów komputerowych, są oni jedynie licencjobiorcami.Computer software has become an element of everyday life. It takes various forms, mostly personal computers and smartphones. Generally people using this type of device and software are said to be ‘users.’ The term ‘user’ or more specific ‘use’ has been defined in the Civil Code. We mean the user of software in accordance with the Civil Code mostly when the entity authorized to the software is authorized to the author’s economic rights as well. Most entities authorized to the computer software are only licensed users
