Evolutionary prisoner's dilemma games with optional participation
Competition among cooperators, defectors, and loners is studied in an
evolutionary prisoner's dilemma game with optional participation. Loners are
risk averse i.e. unwilling to participate and rather rely on small but fixed
earnings. This results in a rock-scissors-paper type cyclic dominance of the
three strategies. The players are located either on square lattices or random
regular graphs with the same connectivity. Occasionally, every player
reassesses its strategy by sampling the payoffs in its neighborhood. The loner
strategy efficiently prevents successful spreading of selfish, defective
behavior and avoids deadlocks in states of mutual defection. On square
lattices, Monte Carlo simulations reveal self-organizing patterns driven by the
cyclic dominance, whereas on random regular graphs different types of
oscillatory behavior are observed: the temptation to defect determines whether
damped, periodic or increasing oscillations occur. These results are compared
to predictions by pair approximation. Although pair approximation is incapable
of distinguishing the two scenarios because of the equal connectivity, the
average frequencies as well as the oscillations on random regular graphs are

Is Quantum Mechanics Compatible with a Deterministic Universe? Two Interpretations of Quantum Probabilities
Two problems will be considered: the question of hidden parameters and the
problem of Kolmogorovity of quantum probabilities. Both of them will be
analyzed from the point of view of two distinct understandings of quantum
mechanical probabilities. Our analysis will be focused, as a particular
example, on the Aspect-type EPR experiment. It will be shown that the quantum
mechanical probabilities appearing in this experiment can be consistently
understood as conditional probabilities without any paradoxical consequences.
Therefore, nothing implies in the Aspect experiment that quantum theory is

Point-contact spectroscopy of Al- and C-doped MgB2. Superconducting energy gaps and scattering studies
The two-band/two-gap superconductivity in aluminium and carbon doped MgB
has been addressed by the point-contact spectroscopy. Two gaps are preserved in
all samples with down to 22 K. The evolution of two gaps as a function
of the critical temperature in the doped systems suggest the dominance of the
band-filling effects but for the increased Al-doping the enhanced interband
scattering approaching two gaps must be considered. The magnetic field
dependences of the Andreev reflection excess currents as well as zero-energy
density of states determined from the experimental data are used to analyze the
intraband scattering. It is shown, that while the C-doping increases the
intraband scattering in the -band more rapidly then in the band,
the Al-doping does not change their relative weight.Comment: 8 pages, incl. 6 figure
QCD finite T transition -- Comparison between Wilson and staggered results
A quantitative comparison between the finite temperature behaviour of the
staggered and Wilson fermion formulations are performed. The comparison is
based on a physical quantity that is expected to be quite sensitive to the
fermionic features of the action. For that purpose we use the height of the

Benefits of a marketing cooperative in transition agriculture: Mórakert purchasing and service co-operative
The paper analyses the potential benefits of marketing cooperatives in Hungary, employing a transaction cost economics framework. We found that the purchased quantity, the existence of contracts, flexibility and trust are the most important factors farmers consider when selling their products via a cooperative. The most striking result is that diversification has positive influences on the share of cooperatives in farmers’ sale. Furthermore, farmers with larger bargaining power have less willingness to sell their product to the cooperative. Surprisingly, asset specificity has rather negative effects on the share of cooperatives in members’ sales
HAT-P-13: a multi-site campaign to detect the transit of the second planet in the system
A possible transit of HAT-P-13c has been predicted to occur on 2010 April 28.
Here we report on the results of a multi-site campaign that has been organised
to detect the event. CCD photometric observations have been carried out at five
observatories in five countries. We reached 30% time coverage in a 5 days
interval centered on the suspected transit of HAT-P-13c. Two transits of
HAT-P-13b were also observed. No transit of HAT-P-13c has been detected while
the campaign was on. By a numerical experiment with 10^5 model systems we
conclude that HAT-P-13c is not a transiting exoplanet with a significance level
from 65% to 72%, depending on the planet parameters and the prior assumptions.
We present two times of transit of HAT-P-13b ocurring at BJD 2455141.5522 +-
0.0010 and BJD 2455249.4508 +- 0.0020. The TTV of HAT-P-13b is consistent with
zero within 0.001 days. The refined orbital period of HAT-P-13b is 2.916293 +-

The equation of state in lattice QCD: with physical quark masses towards the continuum limit
The equation of state of QCD at vanishing chemical potential as a function of
temperature is determined for two sets of lattice spacings. Coarser lattices
with temporal extension of N_t=4 and finer lattices of N_t=6 are used. Symanzik
improved gauge and stout-link improved staggered fermionic actions are applied.
The results are given for physical quark masses both for the light quarks and
for the strange quark. Pressure, energy density, entropy density, quark number
