    This research was aimed to determine the effective concentration of essential oil Gardenia augusta leaves as an active ingredient of liquid electrical repellent on Aedes aegypti. This research was carried out from December 2006 to May 2007 at Entomological Laboratory and FMIPA UNIB. Research was carried out in several steps: preparation of egg and mass rearing of Aedes aegypti, distillation of Gardenia augusta leaves, preliminary test determination of IC 5 and IC 90,and effectively test for IC It used Complete Random Design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. Research method used essential oil test as an active ingredient of liquid electrical repellent with 10 ml for adult mosquitoes which had fast during 24 hours. Each treatment used 20 mosquitoes and 1 mus muculus, honey oiled on paper filter, and liquid electrical with 10 ml, Amount of refraining mosquitoes at stall test was 30 minutes. The effective concentration was used Probit Analysis and data of affectivity test analyzed with ANOVA, and to be continued by DMRT. Effectively test was on IC 50.50 with 2010.67 ppm. Statistically analysis showed a significantly influence on each treatment

    The research was carried out on December 2009 to February 2010 by using purposive sampling method. . It was aimed to to determine the spread and intensity of termite attack on the rubber plant in Pagar Banyu Village Argamakmur, Bengkulu. Stages of the research were sampling at the study site, observing the spread of termites at each point and determining the distibution of termites, counting the intensity of termites attack, counted how many rubber trees are attacked by termites at a predetermined location. As the results of the study, there were 4 species of termites, Coptotermes curvignatus, Microcerotermes sp, Microtermes inspiratus, and Nasutitermes sp. Termites population was distributed evenly in the rubber plantation, intensity of attack to rubber plantation was categorized low (6.25-15.6%)

    Penggunaan produk herbal merupakan alternatif terbaik dalam mengendalikan populasi nyamuk. Banyak jenis tanaman diketahui memiliki aktivitas biologi, yakni menghasilkan metabolit sekunder yang berpotensi sebagai larvasida, salah satunya adalah tanaman oleander (Nerium oleander L.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak daun oleander sebagai biolarvasida terhadap larva Aedes aegypti L. instar III. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tujuh perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 25 larva Aedes aegypti instar III strain lokal Bengkulu per gelas uji. Pembuatan ekstrak daun oleander dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol 96% yang dipekatkan dengan rotary evaporator. Konsentrasi ekstrak untuk uji efektivitas didapatkan dari hasil uji pendahuluan: 50 ppm, 200 ppm, 350 ppm, 500 ppm, dan 650 ppm. Kontrol positif menggunakan larutan temefos 1000 ppm dan kontrol negatif menggunakan akuades. Penentuan efektivitas konsentrasi ekstrak daun oleander dengan mencari nilai LC50. Selanjutnya data kematian larva Ae. aegypti dianalisis menggunakan analisis varian (ANOVA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase kematian larva terbanyak pada konsentrasi 650 ppm. Hasil analisis varian menunjukkan ada perbedaan nyata antar konsentrasi terhadap kematian larva dengan konsentrasi efektif 127,938 ppm.     This research has been done on January-May 2010 at Entomology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Bengkulu University. The eggs of Papilionidae were collected by exploration method, and kept into laboratory. The result showed that immature stages duration of Papilio demoleus was 26-29 days (eggs stadia = 3 days, larvae instar 1 stadia = 2-3 days, larvae instar 2 stadia = 2 days, larvae instar stadia 3 = 2-3 days, larvae instar 4 stadia = 2-3 days, larvae instar 5 stadia = 4-5 days, prepupa = 1 day, dan pupa 9-11 days). Papilio polytes was 24-27 days (eggs stadia = 3 days, larvae instar 1 stadia = 2 days, larvae instar 2 stadia = 1-2 days, larvae instar stadia 3 = 2 days, larvae instar 4 stadia = 2-3 days, larvae instar 5 stadia = 4-6 days, prepupa = 1 day, dan pupa 8-10 days), and Papilio memnon was 30-32 days (eggs stadia = 3-4 days, larvae instar 1 stadia = 2-3 days, larvae instar 2 stadia = 1-2 days, larvae instar stadia 3 = 2-3 days, larvae instar 4 stadia = 2-4 days, larvae instar 5 stadia = 5-7 days. Prepupa took 1 day, and pupa 10-12 days at the temperature of 29-32 0 C and humidity 5-83%

    This study aimed to examine the effect of giving black cumin extract to changes in the histopathological picture of the liver of white rats induced by isoniazid. The method used is experimental with posttest only control group design pattern. The research subjects used 25 Rattus norvegicus, which were divided into negative control group (P1), positive control (P2) isoniazid orally with a dose of 5.4 - 6.75 mg/day for six weeks, treatment 1 (P3), treatment 2 (P4 ), and treatment 3 (P5) which was given isoniazid at a dose of 5.4 - 6.75 mg/day orally and followed by oral black cumin with stratified amounts of 2000, 2500 and 3000 mg/kgBW. The results showed that there was a significant increase in liver cell damage after administration of isoniazid (p < 0.05) and liver cell recovery after administration of black cumin extract for 42 days (p < 0.05).     This study aimed to analyze the effect of the stem extract of the yellow root plant (Arcangelisia flava Merr.) from Enggano Island on the introduction and locomotor activity of male and female mice (Mus musculus L.). The method used is an experiment with a completely randomized design. The treatment variations were extracted at a dose of 150 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW and 250 mg/kgBW, Neo Hormoviton capsules at a 200 mg/kgBW dose as a positive control, and without extract or strong drug as a negative control. The results showed that the administration of the extract caused an increase in the introduction activity, but the activity decreased with the increase in the dose of the given extract. Meanwhile, an increase in locomotor activity occurred at a dose of 250 mg/kgBW, while the doses of 150 mg/kgBW and 200 mg/kgBW tended to cause a decrease. Duncan's further test showed that a dose of 250 mg/kgBW increased locomotor activity which was more significant in female mice but not significantly in male mice. In conclusion, the extract at a dose of 250 mg/kgBW can increase locomotor activity, higher than Neo Hormoviton capsules at 200 mg/kgBW in both male and female mice.     Pengujian Ekstrak Daun Jambu Biji (Psidium guajava Linn.) Terhadap Penyembuhan Luka Bakar Pada Mencit (Mus musculus)

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan konsentrasi efektif ekstrak daun jambu biji (Psidium guajava Linn.) terhadap penyembuhan luka bakar pada mencit ( Mus musculus). Ekstrak daun jambu biji diperoleh dengan cara maserasi menggunakan etanol p.a sebagai pelarut. Uji efektivitas ekstrak daun jambu biji terhadap luka bakar dilakukan terhadap mencit betina, yang telah dilukai pada bagian punggungnya dengan penginduksi panas berupa lempengan logam berukuran 2 x 2 cm dengan suhu 80o C selama 5 detik. Pengujian efektivitas dibagi menjadi enam kelompok perlakuan, yaitu kontrol negatif TPO (Tanpa Pemberian Obat), kontrol positif PEP (Pemberian Ekstrak Plasenta) dengan obat komersil (Bioplacenton) serta empat kelompok dengan ekstrak daun jambu biji dengan konsentrasi 1%, 3%, 5% dan 7%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun jambu biji berhasil dalam penyembuhan luka bakar pada mencit. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukan bahwa konsentrasi efektif ekstrak daun jambu biji adalah 1%, karena merupakan konsentrasi paling kecil yang memiliki nilai berbeda nyata dengan TPO namun tidak menunjukan perbedaaan nilai yang nyata dengan PEP dan ekstrak daun jambu biji konsentrasi lain

    The research was aimed to know the effective consentration of essential oil of Ocimum basillicum L. leaves as an effective ingredient of mosquito repellent lotion on Aedes aegypti L. The research was done from June to October 2008 at Entomology Laboratory and Biological Control, FMIPA UNIB. The sequence of research were preparation of egg and mass rearing of Aedes aegypti L., destilation of essential oil from Ocimum basillicum L. leaves, production of lotion, pre-testing and effectivity test. The research was designed by Completely Randomized Design by six treatments with four replications. Each replication was used 40 mosquitos which had been starved for 24 hours, and tested for 30 minutes. The pre-testing was aimed to find the IC5 and IC90. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA and DMRT test. According to the pre-testing, the result gained that IC5 as high as 1000 ppm and IC90 as high as 5000 ppm. Based on ANOVA analysis, the result showed that each treatment was significantly influence. The effective concentration based on value of IC5 from analysis probit, was 2425.71 ppm

    This research was aimed to know effective concentration of mixed of Andropogon nardus L. leaves extract and essential oil of Cananga odorata B. flowers as an active ingredient of repellent on Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes. The research was carried out at Laboratory of Entomology and Biological Control, University of Bengkulu since December 2006 until May 2007. Several steps of the research were the Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes rearing mass, making of Andropogon nardus L. leaves extract, distilling of Cananga odorata B. flowers, making the mixed of Andropogon nardus L. leaves extract and essential oil of Cananga odorata B., preeleminary test, and effectivity test. Research design used Completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 4 replications, used 20 Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes that had been fasted for 24 hours. Inhibitor Concentration at 50% (IC ) was analyzed by Probits analysis, then analyzed by ANOVA and followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Preeleminary test resulted 2000 ppm for IC and 30000 ppm for IC 90 50 5. Concentrations that were used to effectivity test, that is 8000 ppm, 13000 ppm, 18000 ppm, 23000 ppm, and 28000 ppm. The Probits analysis of effectivity test resulted 19060.40 ppm of IC. DMRT showed each treatment of mixed extract significantly different statistically.5
