Brewing Scholarly Connections: The Evolution of Scholar Sips at GS Libraries
The Scholar Sips lecture series at Georgia Southern University aims to facilitate student-faculty connections through intellectual exploration. Scholar Sips provides a space for faculty to present and discuss their recent, topical research with students who may or may not be in their classes already. Scholar Sips participants are also treated to complimentary coffee and tea. The library acts as a neutral third-space that levels the power dynamic between professor and student, positioning them both as explorers of a given topic. This presentation will describe the philosophical approach behind Scholar Sips, its gradual transformation over three semesters, as well as strategies that led to a successful rebranding and marketing of the series. We\u27ll also candidly share our challenges and discuss our future plans for the 2024-25 academic year

Developing Full Comprehension of Self in the Average American Adolescent Female
The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the need for a program of prevention during pre-adolescent years addressing the root causes of maladaptive behaviors in American females during adolescence. This work will demonstrate the need for one to live outwardly in congruence with her inner self and will introduce a potential solution to this rising problem through a Christ-centered program. Issues arise in adolescent females who conduct their lives in a manner that is not in accordance with whom they were created to be. These problems will be addressed, and treatment programs designed to rehabilitate women who suffer from maladaptive behaviors will be assessed. Utilizing habits that increase core alignment may be found beneficial for prevention, in adjunct with grasping her role in the story God created for her
Evaluation and management of hip pain : the emerging role of hip arthroscopy
In this article, the authors report a study into the Dutch probation service about the question whether structured decision making about case management plans does or does not improve the quality of these plans, and subsequently improves the effectiveness of offender supervision. Two samples of nearly 300 case management plans each were compared. In the first sample a tool for risk/needs assessment was used to assess the risks and needs but decision making about the subsequent case management plan was not structured (RISc2-sample). In the second sample professionals used the same tool for risk and needs assessment but now it also contained a section for structured decision making about the case management plan (RISc3-sample). Results showed that in the RISc3-sample the quality of the plans was significantly better than in the RISc2-sample: a better match between criminogenic needs and goals, a better match between goals of the offender and goals in the plan, more focus on strengthening social bonds, and a better match between risk of recidivism and intensity of the plan. Some significant correlations between the quality of the plans and the effectiveness of offender supervision were found, indicating that improving case management plans by structured decision support indeed can contribute to probation practice
