From Type IIA Black Holes to T-dual Type IIB D-Instantons in N=2, D=4 Supergravity

    Get PDF
We discuss the T-duality between the solutions of type IIA versus IIB superstrings compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds. Within the context of the N=2, D=4 supergravity effective Lagrangian, the T-duality transformation is equivalently described by the c-map, which relates the special Kahler moduli space of the IIA N=2 vector multiplets to the quaternionic moduli space of the N=2 hyper multiplets on the type IIB side (and vice versa). Hence the T-duality, or c-map respectively, transforms the IIA black hole solutions, originating from even dimensional IIA branes, of the special Kahler effective action, into IIB D-instanton solutions of the IIB quaternionic sigma-model action, where the D-instantons can be obtained by compactifying odd IIB D-branes on the internal Calabi-Yau space. We construct via this mapping a broad class of D-instanton solutions in four dimensions which are determinded by a set of harmonic functions plus the underlying topological Calabi-Yau data.Comment: LaTeX, 37 pages. Objective: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) also known as familial polyposis coli, is a hereditary disease characterized by progressive appearance of numerous polyps mainly in the large intestine. Polyps are initially benign but can easily become cancerous and as such it is a life threatening condition. Celecoxib, a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor is thought to induce cell death, and thus prevent or delay the growth of polyps. So in the present study celecoxib loaded microspheres were prepared using control release Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC K4M) and pH dependent polymer eudragit L 100-55 in different ratios (1:1 to 1:4) respectively. The main objective of the study is to identify the polymer concentration required to prevent the drug release in stomach region and promotes in intestinal region. Methods: Emulsification solvent evaporation method was selected for the preparation and all the optimized formulations were evaluated for drug-polymer interactions, percentage yield, micrometric properties, entrapment efficiency, particle size analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and in vitro dissolution study. Results: Drug and polymer interactions were evaluated by using FTIR and DSC. The FTIR spectrum and DSC thermograms stated that drug and polymer are compatible to each other. The micrometric properties of drug loaded microspheres were carried out and they were found to be as the angle of repose (18.26 °-40.69 °), bulk density (0.2846-0.3875), tapped density (0.4111-0.5428), Carr's index (9.66-14.77), Hausner's ratio (1.112-1.2642) which were within the limits. In vitro dissolution, drug release was found to be from 4.5 to 6.5 h for the prepared four formulations (F1–F4). From the kinetic data modeling the order of drug release was found to be zero order and korsmeyer-peppas with n value above 0.5 for all the formulations indicating non-fickian diffusion. Conclusion: All the result demonstrated that celecoxib microspheres can be effectively used in the treatment of familial adenomatous polyposi

The thought of deniability arises from undeniable fact that coercers cannot show the forecasted evidence is wrong and so haven't any motive to refuse the needed evidence. This process tries to obstruct coercion efforts as coercers observe that their attempts are ineffective. We utilize this idea to make sure that providers of cloud storage can offer audit-free storage services. A lot of the techniques of deniable file encryption consist of the problems of understanding error including techniques of designed understanding. Inside our work we provide a powerful file encryption plan of cloud storage that allows the providers of cloud storage to produce convincing false user strategies for defend user privacy. We employ top features of attribute basis file encryption for obtaining of knowledge that's stored in the method of proper-grained access control additionally to deniable file encryption to postpone outdoors auditing. Our recommended plan will grant clients to get capable of offer fake secrets that appear genuine to exterior coercers

Background: Raktapradara manifesting as excessive bleeding per vagina is seen to be an age old disease known to mankind since the era of Veda and Purana. Excessive and irregular menstrual bleeding condition is similar to Raktapradara a gynaecological condition mentioned in Ayurvedic classics. Rakta Pradara is one among the Rakta Pradoshaja Vikara and characterized by Artava Ati Pravrutti, Deerga Kala Pravrutti, Anruta Kala Pravrutti, Daha in Adho Vankshana Pradesha, Sroni, Prushta and Kukshi, Shoola in Garbhashaya, Angamardha etc. Objectives: To clinically evaluate the effect of Khanda Kushmanda Avaleha in Raktapradara. Materials and Methods: The patients attending the O.P.D. and I.P.D. of S.V.M Ayurvedic Medical College and PG Centre, Ilkal, were randomly divided into 2 groups, Group A was treated with Khanda Kusmanda Avaleha and Group B was treated with Placebo Capsule. Results: Khanda Kushmanda Avaleha cured 12 patients i.e. 85.71% followed by markedly improvement in 2 patients i.e. 14.28%. Placebo capsule mildly improved 61.54% i.e. 8 patients followed by no improvement to 38.46% i.e. 5 patients. Discussion: The effect of therapy on chief complaints in Group A is better than Group B. Percentage wise Khanda Kusmanda Avaleha gave 86.3% relief on duration of blood loss, 85.7% on Interval between two cycles and 58.3% on Amount of total blood loss during one period while Placebo capsule gave 27.2% relief on Duration of blood loss, 20% on Interval between cycle, and 21.05% relief on Amount of blood loss. So, more relief was observed on chief complaints in Group - A i.e. Khanda Kusmanda Avaleha

Background: The neonatal mortality rate is a key outcome indicator for newborn care and directly reflects prenatal, intrapartum, and neonatal care. Objective: Primary objective was to assess the neonatal mortality profile, incidence of neonatal sepsis among total neonatal deaths and pattern of antimicrobial resistance. Methodology: This was a retrospective descriptive study done at a tertiary care center. All neonatal deaths from January 2014 to December 2014 were reviewed, and primary causes of mortality, incidence of sepsis among neonatal deaths and pattern of antimicrobial resistance were analyzed. Results: Common causes of neonatal mortality were sepsis, respiratory distress syndrome, congenital malformations, asphyxia, extreme preterm, meconium aspiration syndrome. Case fatality rate was high in extreme preterm neonates (82%), followed by respiratory distress syndrome (29%), congenital malformations (29%), sepsis (25%), asphyxia (25%). In our study incidence of neonatal sepsis among total neonatal deaths was about 20.5%. Staphylococcus aureus (60%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (23%) were predominant organisms. Highest case fatality rate was associated with K. pneumoniae sepsis about 60%, followed by Escherichia coli sepsis (54%) and Acinetobacter sepsis (50%). Multidrug resistance is an emerging problem, especially in Acinetobacter sepsis. Conclusion: Sepsis still remains the leading cause of death in developing countries. S. aureus was the most common predominant organism; of this, two-thirds were methicillin-resistant S. aureus. About 90% of K. pneumoniae were resistant to extended-spectrum cephalosporins. Multidrug resistance is an emerging problem, especially in Acinetobacter sepsis

Population survey of the Bengal slow loris, Nycticebus bengalensis in Meghalaya, northeast India

    Get PDF
The Bengal slow loris Nycticebus bengalensis is a nocturnal prosimian that inhabits the forests of northeastern India. As with many nocturnal prosimian species, little is known about its behavior or ecology; even less information is available on its distribution and population status in northeastern India. We conducted a survey of forest patches in the state of Meghalaya, in northeast India, in order to assess its distribution. A secondary aim of our study was to estimate the severity of threats that may affect the long-term survival of the slow loris in Meghalaya. We surveyed sixteen sites in six districts. Slow lorises were seen in only two sites; however, information obtained through secondary sources indicated that they were present in a number of other forest patches across the state. Many of the forests surveyed were severely affected by logging, poaching and forest fires; it is imperative that conservation measures, aimed at protecting existing forest patches, be implemented in order to ensure the long-term survival of the slow loris and other mammals in the state
