    Features of life situations prediction in patients with neurotic disorders

    The study explores the person’s anticipatory consistency as one of the factors of neurotic disorders genesis. The research comprised 60 participants: 30 in-patients of the neurosis clinic and 30 people with no history of neurotic disorders. A comparative analysis revealed reduced personal, situational and temporal predictive competence in patients with neurotic disorders. This results in the disruption of cause-effect assessment, the diminished ability to predict everyday situations and, finally, maladjustment to interpersonal relationships.В исследовании рассматривается качество прогнозирования жизненных ситуаций пациентами с невротическими расстройствами как одного из факторов неврозогенеза. Участниками исследования стали 60 человек: 30 пациентов отделения неврозов, находящихся на стационарном лечении, и 30 человек, не имеющих в анамнезе невротических расстройств. При сравнительном анализе установлено, что у лиц с невротическими расстройствами снижена личностно-ситуативная и временная прогностическая компетентность как результат плохой оценки причинно-следственных связей и коммуникативной дезадаптации

    Fragmentation and Multifragmentation of 10.6A GeV Gold Nuclei

    We present the results of a study performed on the interactions of 10.6A GeV gold nuclei in nuclear emulsions. In a minimum bias sample of 1311 interac- tions, 5260 helium nuclei and 2622 heavy fragments were observed as Au projec- tile fragments. The experimental data are analyzed with particular emphasis of target separation interactions in emulsions and study of criticalexponents. Multiplicity distributions of the fast-moving projectile fragments are inves- tigated. Charged fragment moments, conditional moments as well as two and three -body asymmetries of the fast moving projectile particles are determined in terms of the total charge remaining bound in the multiply charged projectile fragments. Some differences in the average yields of helium nuclei and heavier fragments are observed, which may be attributed to a target effect. However, two and three-body asymmetries and conditional moments indicate that the breakup mechanism of the projectile seems to be independent of target mass. We looked for evidence of critical point observable in finite nuclei by study the resulting charged fragments distributions. We have obtained the values for the critical exponents gamma, beta and tau and compare our results with those at lower energy experiment (1.0A GeV data).     Complementary effects of HDAC inhibitor 4-PB on gap junction communication and cellular export mechanisms support restoration of chemosensitivity of PDAC cells

    Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a fatal disease and one of the cancer entities with the lowest life expectancy. Beside surgical therapy, no effective therapeutic options are available yet. Here, we show that 4-phenylbutyrate (4-PB), a known and well-tolerable inhibitor of histone deacetylases (HDAC), induces up to 70% apoptosis in all cell lines tested (Panc 1, T4M-4, COLO 357, BxPc3). In contrast, it leads to cell cycle arrest in only half of the cell lines tested. This drug increases gap junction communication between adjacent T3M-4 cells in a concentration-dependent manner and efficiently inhibits cellular export mechanisms in Panc 1, T4M-4, COLO 357 and BxPc3 cells. Consequently, in combination with gemcitabine 4-PB shows an overadditive effect on induction of apoptosis in BxPc3 and T3M-4 cells (up to 4.5-fold compared to single drug treatment) with accompanied activation of Caspase 8, BH3 interacting domain death agonist (Bid) and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase family, member 1 (PARP) cleavage. Although the inhibition of the mitogen-activated protein kinase-pathway has no influence on fulminant induction of apoptosis, the inhibition of the JNK-pathway by SP600125 completely abolishes the overadditive effect induced by the combined application of both drugs, firstly reported by this study

    Lyotropic model membrane structures of hydrated DPPC: DSC and small-angle X-ray scattering studies of phase transitions in the presence of membranotropic agents

    Multibilayer structures of hydrated phospholipids, often considered as model biological membranes, are, from the physical viewpoint, lyotropic liquid crystalline systems undergoing temperature-induced mesomorphic phase transitions. Effects of silver nitrate and urocanic acid on lyotropic phase states of hydrated L-α-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) have been studied by small-angle X-ray scattering and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Both methods show increase of the main phase-transition temperature (Tm) of hydrated DPPC upon introduction of AgNO3 or urocanic acid, decrease of pre-transition temperature (Tp) in the presence of urocanic acid and its increase in the presence of AgNO3. Thus, urocanic acid widened the ripple-phase temperature region. Silver nitrate caused the appearance of an additional high-temperature peak on DSC thermograms, evidencing phase separation in the system. Both agents caused minor effects on DPPC lipid bilayer repeat distance (D) in gel phase, but resulted in noticeable increase of D in the liquid crystal phase with temperature as compared to undoped DPPC structures

    The interaction of 800-GeV protons in nuclear emulsion has been investigated. The multiplicities and angular distributions of charged particles emitted by both the projectile and the target nucleus have been measured for 1718 inelastic events and are compared with the data obtained in proton-emulsion collisions at 67, 200, and 400 GeV. The target excitation is found to be independent of energy while the production of secondary particles continues to increase with incident proton energy. © 1987 The American Physical Society

    Central collisions of 800-GeV protons with Ag/Br nuclei in nuclear emulsion

    Central collisions of 800-GeV protons with the heavy components of nuclear emulsion, Ag107 and Br80, have been investigated to determine the characteristics of small-impact-parameter collisions and, by comparison with the analysis of inclusive proton-emulsion inelastic interactions and inelastic proton-nucleon collisions, to study the dependence of the interaction process on the mean number of intranuclear collisions . The data are also compared with the results obtained in proton-emulsion collisions, both central and inclusive, at 200 GeV. The variations in the secondary-particle multiplicities and the normalized pseudorapidity density correlate with and demonstrate that proton-nucleus interactions, both central and inclusive, can be described adequately by the incoherent superposition of proton-nucleon collisions. © 1989 The American Physical Society
