Asymmetric Leakage from Multiplier and Collision-Based Single-Shot Side-Channel Attack
The single-shot collision attack on RSA proposed by Hanley et al. is studied focusing on the difference between two operands of multiplier. It is shown that how leakage from integer multiplier and long-integer multiplication algorithm can be asymmetric between two operands. The asymmetric leakage is verified with experiments on FPGA and micro-controller platforms. Moreover, we show an experimental result in which success and failure of the attack is determined by the order of operands. Therefore, designing operand order can be a cost-effective countermeasure. Meanwhile we also show a case in which a particular countermeasure becomes ineffective when the asymmetric leakage is considered. In addition to the above main contribution, an extension of the attack by Hanley et al. using the signal-processing technique of Big Mac Attack is presented
Crystalline chiral condensates off the tricritical point in a generalized Ginzburg-Landau approach
We present an extensive study on inhomogeneous chiral condensates in QCD at
finite density in the chiral limit using a generalized Ginzburg-Landau (GL)
approach. Performing analyses on higher harmonics of one-dimensionally (1D)
modulated condensates, we numerically confirm the previous claim that the
solitonic chiral condensate characterized by Jacobi's elliptic function is the
most favorable structure in 1D modulations. We then investigate the possibility
of realization of several multidimensional modulations within the same
framework. We also study the phase structure far away from the tricritical
point by extending the GL functional expanded up to the eighth order in the
order parameter and its spatial derivative. On the same basis, we explore a new
regime in the extended GL parameter space and find that the Lifshitz point is
the point where five critical lines meet at once. In particular, the existence
of an intriguing triple point is demonstrated, and its trajectory consists of
one of those critical lines.Comment: 17 pages, 20 eps figures; (v2) corrected an error in computation of

Influence of deposition rate on magnetic properties of inverse-spinel NiCo2O4epitaxial thin films grown by pulsed laser deposition
We investigated the influence of the deposition rate on structural and magnetic properties of inverse-spinel ferrimagnet NiCo₂O₄ epitaxial films grown by pulsed laser deposition. While films' lattice constants are insensitive to the deposition rate, saturation magnetization, and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy for the film grown with a high deposition rate are reduced. These results imply that growing NiCo₂O₄ films with a high deposition rate leads to occupations of the tetrahedral site by Ni, although Ni ideally occupies only the octahedral site. Controlling the deposition rate and modulating the cation distribution is the key for tuning the magnetic properties in NiCo₂O₄ films
On the construction of Brownian house-moving and its properties
The purpose of this paper is to construct a new stochastic process "Brownian
house-moving," which is a Brownian bridge that stays between its starting point
and its terminal point. To construct this process, statements are prepared on
the weak convergence of conditioned Brownian motion, a conditioned Brownian
bridge, a conditioned Brownian meander, and a conditioned three-dimensional
Bessel bridge. Also studied are the sample path properties of Brownian
house-moving and the decomposition formula for its distribution.Comment: 78 page
Relationships of obesity and diabetes mellitus to other primary cancers in surgically treated gastric cancer patients
AbstractBackgroundOther primary cancers (OPC) have been reported in gastric cancer (GC) patients. Recent studies have shown relationships of obesity and diabetes mellitus to cancer development in several organs. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of obesity and diabetes mellitus (DM) to the prevalence of OPC in GC patients.MethodsWe reviewed 435 GC patients who were treated surgically and followed their outcomes after surgery. Patients with body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25 kg/m2 were defined as obese. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and HbA1c levels were examined before surgery.ResultsOPC was observed in 109 GC patients (25.1%): 40 (9.2%) with synchronous OPC and 76 (18.2%) with metachronous OPC. The most common OPC was colorectal cancer (22.8%). OPC was frequently observed in patients with DM (p = 0.0022), and DM was an independent risk factor for the occurrence of OPC (odds ratio, 2.215; 95% confidence interval, 1.2007–4.0850; p = 0.011). Synchronous OPC was frequently observed in patients with obesity (p = 0.025), and obesity was an independent risk factor for the occurrence of synchronous OPC (odds ratio, 2.354; 95% confidence interval, 1.1246–4.9279; p = 0.023). Metachronous OPC was frequently observed in patients with DM (p = 0.0071), and DM was an independent risk factor for the occurrence of OPC (odds ratio, 2.680; 95% confidence interval, 1.0291–6.9780; p = 0.044).ConclusionThere is a need to be aware of the possibility of OPC in GC patients with DM/obesity. They should undergo intensive screening for OPC before and after gastrectomy
