Disorder: about the creative process of an experimental film
This is not the first time
that Maria João Guardão
and I collaborated with
each other, but it is the
first time that we decided
to create something together:
a film. Disorder’s
point of departure is the
installation “Square Disorder”
(Appleton Square, Lisbon,
2008), the installation
“Rectangle Disorder” (Leal
Rios Foundation, Lisbon,
2014) by Susana Mendes
Silva and the performances
created by Susana
Mendes Silva and Miguel
Pereira — “#1 [preview]”,
“#2 [instruction manual]”
and “#3 [finissage]” — with
sound by Jari Marjamäki.
The final result is a combination
of an intense coauthorship
project that
was developed almost as
choreography between a
film-maker and a visual
artist

Cadavre Exquis: motion-controlled interactive film
This interactive film, a variation on the surrealist game Cadavre
Exquis, seeks the possibility of subverting the filmic discourse by
exploring psychosomatic processes that may give the viewer
different perceptions of cinematic time, by providing the
possibility of intervening into the narrative in a disruptive way.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
depende do domínio espacial. O teste realizado à parameterização do
ABSTRACT: The aim of the proposed research is the investigation of vertical cumulus
momentum transport (CMT) in tropical oceanic convective cloud systems. Our
approach is to use a unique four month three-dimensional cloud resolving
model (CRM) simulations of TOGA COARE - a major field experiment over the
warm waters of the west Pacific.
For the purpose of testing the CRM sensitivity to the spatial domain resolution,
a daily mean analysis centered in a strong convection episode with substantial
mean vertical shear was performed over several simulated fields, establishing
that the CMT is insensitive to the domain size. The test applied to the skill of a
downgradient mixing-length parameterization highlighted very poor results in
the mid-troposphere, suggesting that some CRM parameterizations might be
responsible for these results, namely in updraft cloud mass flux field, and
should be refined
Surficial sediment texture database for the south-western Iberian Atlantic margin
Assessing the impact of changes on the environment driven by natural or anthropogenic forcers includes the comparison between antecedent and post-event conditions. The latter is particularly relevant in order to better understand to which extent those changes actually impact or alter a particular environment and associated services and to determine the resilience of a system. In this regard, it becomes essential to create or provide databases to inform about baseline conditions. Here, we present a database that integrates surficial sediment samples collected and analysed for textural characterization within the framework of a series of research projects over circa 20 years. Collected samples along the south-western Atlantic margin of the Iberian Peninsula extend from estuaries and beaches to the adjacent continental shelf. For the case of the more dynamic environments, namely coastal sandy barriers, samples were repeated over time in order to capture the intrinsic variability of the system. Examples of the utility of this data set for a variety of purposes and environments are also included within this paper through three examples. Therefore, here we show the added value of the database as it can be used to assess the impact of a particular event or activity at an estuary by providing baseline conditions, evaluate the continental shelf sediment suitability for nourishment activities, or contribute to the understanding of the morphodynamics and classification of beaches. Finally, it is worth stating the importance of such databases to analyse medium- to long-term variability as the one induced by sea level rise, changes in storminess, or human activities.FCT Investigator programme [IF/01047/2014]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
