Applications of Data Mining in Diverse Business Domains
Today, Computers have become the most integral part of human life. Computers are used for various purposes in different business domains which generate huge volume of data related to different business processes. This leads to many challenging problems and issues for computer science and engineering, which includes data storage, data mining, knowledge management, security etc. Various organizations face the challenges in handling the operational data and effective use of these data to generate the knowledge. This knowledge can be used to improve the business processes as well as achieving the customer satisfaction. Data mining can be used to achieve these goals. Different data mining techniques can be used to identify the different patterns in the data. These patterns can be used to understand the outcome of existing business process. In this paper we have briefly discussed the data mining techniques and usefulness of datamining in marketing, education, pharmaceutical and health care and travels and tourism sectors
Management information systems and its application in Business Decision Making
A formal method of collecting timely information in a presentable form in order to facilitate effective decision making and implementation, in order to carryout organisational operations for the purpose of achieving the organisational goals”. -Walter I. Kennevan. “Management information system, or MIS, broadly refers to a computer-based system that provides managers with the tools to organize, evaluate and efficiently manage departments within an organization.” An organized approach to the study of the informationneeds of an organization'smanagement at every level in makingoperational, tactical, and strategic decisions. Its objective is to design and implement procedures, processes, and routines that provide suitably detailedreports in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner. In a management information system, modern, computerized systems continuously gather relevantdata, both from inside and outside an organization. This data is then processed, integrated, and stored in a centralizeddatabase (or data warehouse) where it is constantly updated and made available to all who have the authority to access it, in a form that suits their purpose
COGNITIVE, AFFECTIVE AND CONATIVE MODEL FOR ANALYSING HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTSq
Many models are used in recent years to analyze behavior of the students in the higher education. Analyzing the learning style and student performance in academic studies are very essential to enhance their performance. This research work is focused on analyzing the learners behavior using three dimensions, i.e., cognitive, affective, and conative model. In this paper, we used Moodle learning management system which is a learning platform to create a personalized learning environment and to track learning abilities using activities. This model will be helpful to study the cognitive, conative, and emotions of students.Â

Low Cost, Robust, Environmentally Friendly Geopolymer–Mesoporous Carbon Composites for Efficient Solar Powered Steam Generation
High-efficiency, environment friendly, renewable energy-based methods of desalination represent attractive and potentially very powerful solutions to the long-standing problem of global water shortage. Many new laboratory-scale materials have been developed for photothermal desalination but the development of low-cost, easy-to-manufacture, and scalable materials and systems that can convert solar irradiation into exploitable thermal energy in this context is still a significant challenge. This paper presents work on a geopolymer–biomass mesoporous carbon composite (GBMCC) device with mesoporous and macroporous structures for harvesting solar energy, which is then used in a device to generate water vapor with high efficiency using negative pressure, wind-driven, steam generation. The GBMCC device gives water evaporation rates of 1.58 and 2.71 kg m−2 h−1 under 1 and 3 suns illumination, with the solar thermal conversion efficiency up to 84.95% and 67.6%, respectively. A remarkable, record high water vapor generation rate of 7.55 kg m−2 h−1 is achieved under 1 sun solar intensity at the wind speed of 3 m s−1. This is a key step forward todays efficient, sustainable and economical production of clean water from seawater or common wastewater with free solar energy
Speech Recognition Using HMM/ANN Hybrid Model
By the analysis on the principle of speech recognition system, a speech recognition system was designed by using LPC2148 as the hardware platform and MATLAB 2012 as the software platform. Speech recognition is an important component of biological identification which is an integrated technology of acoustics, signal processing and artificial intelligence. Recognition systems based on hidden Markov models are effective under particular circumstances, but do suffer from some major limitations that limit applicability of ASR technology in real-world environments. Attempts were made to overcome these limitations with the adoption of artificial neural networks as an alternative paradigm for ASR, but ANNs were unsuccessful in dealing with long time sequences of speech signals. So taking the limitations and advantages of both the systems it was proposed to combine HMM and ANN within a single, hybrid architecture. The goal in hybrid systems for ASR is to take advantage from the properties of both HMM and ANNs, improving flexibility and ASR performance For Speech recognition features from speech sample are extracted & mapping is done using Artificial Neural Networks. Multilayer pattern mapping neural network, which works on the principle of back propagation algorithm is proposed. Finally Speaker Recognition is done using Hidden Markov Model (HMM). The specialty of this model is the flexible and expandable hidden layer for recognition.

A case of stress induced cardiomyopathy with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation after total colectomy
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy or stress-induced cardiomyopathy is a cardiac syndrome of a reversible, transient left ventricular dysfunction that is caused by emotional and/or physical stress and surgery. Its clinical manifestations are similar to acute myocardial ischemia in absence of coronary artery lesion. It is more common in middle-aged women, and the prognosis is favourable. We report the case of a 32-year-old male patient who underwent a total colectomy, developed stress-induced cardiomyopathy and had poor outcome despite extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
