Low-cost solar tracking system
Smaller heat-collector is moved to stay in focus with the sun, instead of moving reflector. Tracking can be controlled by storing data of predicted solar positions or by applying conventional sun-sensing devices to follow solar movement
Initial test bed concentrator characterization
The operational characteristics and the mirror alignment technique of the test bed concentrator control system are highlighted. The final design of the TBC control system provided one axis of fast slew capability so that either the Sun acquisition or emergency off-Sun mode could be obtained in a minimum time. The procedure for getting on and off Sun is to run the elevation axis up to the approximate elevation of the Sun for the particular time of acquisition and then slew the concentrator on Sun in azimuth. The automatic Sun-acquisition system is controlled by two Sun sensors, one for each axis; each has a 2deg acquisition cone angle within which the concentrators are programmed to point. The mirror alignment technique chosen utilized a semi-distant incandescent light source which produced a reflected image on the focal point target. The concentrator was boresighted to the light by moving the concentrator while sighting along the cross hairs and through the apertures in the disks to the light source resulting in a maximum point error of 0.11 deg. Test plans to install a solar flux mapper to characterize the solar spot and to measure the size, shape, and intensity of the Sun's image are outlined
Further studies on the exclusive productions of () via annihilation at the factories
By including the interference effect between the QCD and the QED diagrams, we
carry out a complete analysis on the exclusive productions of () at the factories with GeV at
the next-to-leading-order (NLO) level in , within the nonrelativistic
QCD framework. It is found that the -order terms
that represent the tree-level interference are comparable with the usual NLO
QCD corrections, especially for the and cases. To
explore the effect of the higher-order terms, namely , we perform the QCD corrections to these -order terms for the first time, which are found to be able
to significantly influence the -order results.
In particular, in the case of and , the newly calculated
-order terms can to a large extent counteract
the contributions, evidently indicating the
indispensability of the corrections. In addition, we find that, as the
collision energy rises, the percentage of the interference effect in the total
cross section will increase rapidly, especially for the case.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures. Accepted for publication in EPJ
Which radius for the Sun?
The high accuracy reached by solar limb observations, by helioseismic
measurements and by Standard Solar Models (SSMs) calculations suggests that
general relativity corrections are included when discussing the solar radius.
The Allen value (R = 695.99 0.07 Mm) has to be reduced by 1.5
Km. This correction, which is small as compared with present accuracy, should
be kept in mind for future more precise measurements and/or calculations.Comment: Latex, 3 page

Stability Analysis Of Continuous Conjugate Gradient Method
Kaedah Conjugate Gradient adalah sangat berguna untuk: menyelesaikan masalah
tiada kekangan paling optimum yang berskala besar. Walaubagaimanapun, carlan
garis (line search) dalam Kaedah Conjugate Gradient kadang-kadang sukar didapati
dan pengiraannya menggunakan komputer adalah sangat mahal. Berdasarkan
penyelidikan oleh Sun dan Zhang [J. Sun and J. Zhang (2001), Global convergence
of conjugate gradient methods without line search], menyatakan bahawa Kaedah
memastikan kestabilan Kaedah Conjugate Gradient.
In order to solve a large-scale unconstrained optimization, Conjugate Gradient
Method has been proven to be successful. However, the line search required in
Conjugate Gradient Method is sometimes extremely difficult and computationally
expensive. Studies conducted by Sun and Zhang [J. Sun and J. Zhang (2001), Global
convergence of conjugate gradient methods without line search], claimed that the
Conjugate Gradient Method was globally convergence using "fixed" stepsize at
determined using formula at = 8rk
T fk . The result suggested that for global

convergence of Conjugate Gradient Method, line search was not compUlsory.
Therefore, tlfts dissertation's objective is to determine the range of a and P where
this range will ensure the stability of Conjugate Gradient Method
