IMPACT ASSESSMENT ON MILK INCENTIVE POLICIES IN TURKEY: ANTALYA PROVINCE CASE

Agricultural policy instruments are implementing in different ways among all agricultural based activities. These instruments have been performed for livestock including dairy cattle and milk for many years in Turkey. Until the year 1950, agricultural support system was organized according to genetically improvement, animal illnesses and veterinary services. Nowadays, agricultural support composition has changed. Milk incentive premium is one of the supports given to producers to achieve high quality level for milk. The idea behind this premium was to provide well organized milk distribution channel from producers to modern enterprises. In this study, producers who receive milk incentive premium were chosen for face to face survey in Antalya province. It was examined from the study if premium system is accomplished through the idea. The secondary outcomes of the research were to determine the influence of the premium on producers attitudes, income level, product quantity, as well as membership tendency for cooperatives or unions.milk incentive premium, milk marketing, producer surplus, Antalya, Agricultural and Food Policy, Livestock Production/Industries,

CVD of silicon carbide on structural fibers: Microstructure and composition

    Get PDF
Structural fibers are currently being considered as reinforcements for intermetallic and ceramic materials. Some of these fibers, however, are easily degraded in a high temperature oxidative environment. Therefore, coatings are needed to protect the fibers from environmental attack. Silicon carbide (SiC) was chemically vapor deposited (CVD) on Textron's SCS6 fibers. Fiber temperatures ranging from 1350 to 1500 C were studied. Silane (SiH4) and propane (C2H8) were used for the source gases and different concentrations of these source gases were studied. Deposition rates were determined for each group of fibers at different temperatures. Less variation in deposition rates were observed for the dilute source gas experiments than the concentrated source gas experiments. A careful analysis was performed on the stoichiometry of the CVD SiC coating using electron microprobe. Microstructures for the different conditions were compared. At 1350 C, the microstructures were similar; however, at higher temperatures, the microstructure for the more concentrated source gas group were porous and columnar in comparison to the cross sections taken from the same area for the dilute source gas group

THE EFFECT OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP ON JOB SATISFACTION: AN INVESTIGATION ON ACADEMIC STAFFS AT FACULTIES OF SPORTS SCIENCES IN TURKEY

Transformational leadership and job satisfaction are among the topics that attract the most attention of researchers. This is due to the role that both topics play in employee performance. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of transformational leadership on job satisfaction of academic staff working in higher education institutions. Data were collected from academic staff (n=208) working in the faculties of Sport Sciences within 6 universities, in Turkey. As a data collection tool, Bass and Avolio's (2000) Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire to measure transformational leadership, and job satisfaction scale developed by Chang and Chang (2007) to measure job satisfaction, were used. Descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analyses were used as statistical analysis. The results of the analysis showed that transformational leadership had a significant and positive effect on job satisfaction (ß=.375; p<0.001).  Article visualizations

EVALUATION OF FITNESS CENTER SERVICE QUALITY THROUGH IMPORTANCE-PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

    Get PDF
Various methods are used to evaluate service quality. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of service in a fitness center through the importance-performance analysis (IPA) by focusing on the fitness center customers. The data were obtained from a commercial fitness center. The Service Quality Scale for Fitness Centers (SQS-FC) for fitness centers developed by Yildiz (2011) was used as a data collection tool. The study result showed that IPA is an effective method to evaluate the service quality of fitness centers. Evaluations were made regarding missing and weak service attributes through IPA.  Article visualizations

THE EFFECT OF MOBBING BEHAVIOR ON ATHLETE BURNOUT: A STUDY ON UNIVERSITY STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE UNIVERSITIES FUTSAL LEAGUE

Mobbing and burnout are phenomena that can be observed in many organizations. The effect of mobbing behavior on athlete burnout in this study was examined on university students in the Universities League (UNILIG) futsal competitions. The data were obtained from futsal players (n=72) who participated in the UNILIG, East Anatolian Group Futsal Competitions, in Turkey, during the 2017-2018 season. This study used the NAQ-F (Negative Acts Questionnaire—Football) scale developed by Yildiz (2015b) to measure mobbing and the ABQ (Athlete Burnout Questionnaire) scale developed by Raedeke and Smith (2001) to measure burnout. The football terms in the NAQ-F scale and the sports terms in the ABQ scale have been converted into futsal terms. A five-point Likert scale was used for both scales. First, validity and reliability analysis of the scales were performed, then hierarchical regression analysis was used to determine the effect of mobbing behavior on burnout. Reliability of the scales was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha. The values of Cronbach’s alpha obtained for NAQ-F (α=0.770) and ABQ (α=0.871), indicating very good reliability scores and exceeding the 0.70 threshold cited in the literature. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that mobbing behavior significantly and positively influenced burnout of futsal players (ß=0.489; P<0.001).  Article visualizations

Assessing the Degree of Food Insecurity among Farming Households: Evidence from the Central Region of Ghana

This study seeks to determine the level of food insecurity among farming household in the Central Region of Ghana. A multistage sampling technique was used to select the respondents that were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. In all 240 households were interviewed for the study (i.e., 120 farming households in each of the Forest Communities and Coastal Communities). Data was obtained from 1690 individuals for the analysis of the food security status of the households. The empirical results reveal that majority of the respondents were food insecure. Though majority of the households were food insecure, the level of food insecurity was not severe. The months of April and May are the periods in which households experience severe food shortage. The immediate food insecurity coping strategies households adopt when faced with food insecurity are eating less preferred food, food rationing and skipping meal within a day. Most of the food insecurity coping strategies used by farming households are moderate, and only employed to temporarily minimize the impact of food insecurity. These results have implications for agricultural food policy in developing countries. Key words: Food insecurity, farming households, copping strategies, Ghan

    Investor protection and asset prices

Empirical evidence suggests that investor protection has significant effects on ownership concentration and asset prices. We develop a dynamic asset pricing model to address the empirical regularities and uncover the underlying mechanisms at play. Our model features a controlling shareholder who endogenously accumulates control over a firm, and diverts a fraction of its output. In line with empirical evidence, better investor protection decreases stock holdings of controlling shareholders, increases stock mean-returns, and increases stock return volatilities when ownership concentration is sufficiently high. The model also predicts that better protection increases interest rates and decreases leverage

Empirical evidence suggests that investor protection significantly affects ownership concentration and asset prices. We develop a dynamic asset pricing model to address the empirical regularities and uncover some of the underlying mechanisms at play. Our model features a controlling shareholder that endogenously accumulates control over a firm, and diverts a fraction of its output. Better investor protection decreases stock holdings of controlling shareholders, increases stock mean returns, and increases stock return volatilities when ownership concentration is sufficiently high, consistent with the related empirical evidence. The model also predicts that better protection increases interest rates and decreases the controlling shareholder's leverage.
