    Nutritional Status of Primary School Children from Low Income Households in Jordan

    Background and objectives: Committee on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 recommended for children nutrition had expanded beyond "getting enough" to include healthy eating to reduce the risk of chronic disease at adolescent and adult age. The aims of this study were to examine the nutritional status and reveal any gender differences among school aged children 6-12 years old from low income household in Jordan. Design and setting, method: A descriptive exploratory approach used in conducting this research, the present study was carried out between January and June 2011. Two basic variables (height and weight) and a single derived variable (body mass index) have been used in the present study. Researchers used BMI_group_calculator_Metric. This calculator computes BMI and BMI percentiles for individual children in a group using height and weight measurements, sex, date of birth, and date of measurement information. Results The age range of the children was 6-12 years old with an average age of 7.1±0.88 years. Children's BMI-for- Age presented that normal BMI for (71%) from total school age children as (66% girls) and (71% boys)while overweight children (24%,17% boys and 33% girls) . Conclusion Malnutrition is a major health problem among Palestine refugee's school age children. Children's BMI-for- Age presented that normal BMI for from total school age children as Underweight, overweight as well as obese children with non-ignorable levels.     تقييم كفاءة تقانة التجويف الهيدروديناميكي لمعالجة الرشاحة الناتجة عن معمل وادي الهدة في طرطوس

    تم في هذا البحث دراسة الرشاحة المتولدة عن الأسْمَدَة الهوائية في معمل فرز النفايات البلدية في معمل وادي الهدة في طرطوس. تخضع النفايات في المعمل إلى الفرز الميكانيكي، ويعالج القسم العضوي منها معالجة حيوية من خلال عملية الأسْمَدة الهوائية. تتولد خلال هذه العملية رشاحة تساهم الهطولات المطرية في زيادة كمياتها. تحتوي الرشاحة السابقة على تراكيز عالية جداً من المواد العضوية وغير العضوية إضافة إلى المعادن الثقيلة،  وبالنظر إلى خطورتها على التربة والمياه في المنطقة، وبهدف معالجتها، تم توصيفها من خلال عينات فصلية، وحددت بموجبها المؤشرات(COD، BOD5، NO3-، PO4-3، pH، TDS، EC)حيث بلغت القيمة العظمى لِـ COD والـ BOD5على التوالي mgO2/l44000،650000 وبالنظر إلى طبيعة الرشاحة وملوثاتها، فقد اختيرت تقنية التجويف الهيدروديناميكي (HDC) Hydrodynamic Cavitation وذلك بهدف تخفيض الحمل العضوي وتحطيم المركبات العضوية المعقدة فيها، بما يهيئها للمعالجات اللاحقة. تم تحقيق كفاءة إزالة بنسبة 33.33% بعد زمن تجويف 135 دقيقة بالنسبة للـ COD، في حين أنه لم يلاحظ أي تغير بالنسبة لمؤشر الـ BOD5. أظهرت النتائج أن طريقة (HDC) هي طريقة فعالة للمعالجة الأولية للرشاحة بما يؤدي إلى زيادة الكفاءة في المعالجات اللاحقة مع تخفيض في الزمن والكلف الاقتصادية

    Impact of Lean Accounting on Value of the Company at the Jordanian Industrial Companies

    The purpose of this study was to determine how lean accounting affected the value of the company in Jordanian industrial companies. The researchers used a descriptive-analytical approach to examine study data collected through a questionnaire and from the annual financial reports of the (52) Jordanian industrial companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange during the period from 2017 to 2021. The study brought up a number of findings, the most important of which are: the availability of an impact of lean accounting tools in enhancing the company's value in Jordanian industrial public shareholding companies, with a high level of relative importance. The study provided a number of recommendations, the most important of which was that Jordanian industrial companies' management creates well-structured plans and implements effective strategies to support increasing the value of the company and achieving excellence and prosperity

    Estimation of the Seasonal Inhaled Deposited Dose of Particulate Matter in the Respiratory System of Urban Individuals Living in an Eastern Mediterranean City

    In this study, we present an estimation for the inhaled deposited dose rate in adult males and females during common exposure scenarios to urban background aerosols in an Eastern Mediterranean city (Amman, Jordan) based on a one-year database of measured particle number size distribution. The dose rates show seasonal variations reflecting the physical characteristics (i.e., modal structure) of the particle number size distribution. An additional factor was the varying deposition fraction (DF) for different regions and different human activities (exercising versus resting). The total dose rate was 3 × 109–65 × 109 particles/h (PM2.5 and PM10 doses 1–22 µg/h and 9–210 µg/h; respectively) depending on the gender, activity, and season. Based on the particle number metrics, the inhaled deposited dose in the head, Tracheobronchial, and alveolar were 7–16%, 16–28%, and 56–76%; respectively. Based on the PM2.5 metric, the corresponding dose rate was 9–41%,13–19%; and 46–72% respectively. As for the PM10 metric, they were 25–75%, 7–35%, and 15–55%; respectively

    Fuzzy-PID Controller for Azimuth Position Control of Deep Space Antenna

    The Deep Space Antennas are essential in achieving communication over very large distances. However, the pointing accuracy of this antenna needs to be as precise as possible to enable effective communication with the satellite. Therefore, this work addressed the pointing accuracy for a Deep Space Antenna using Fuzzy-PID control technique by improving the performance objectives (settling time, percentage overshoot rise time and mainly steady-state error) of the system. In this work, the PID controller for the system was first of all designed and simulated after which, a fuzzy controller was also designed and simulated using MATLAB and Simulink respectively for the sake of comparison with the fuzzy-PID controller. Then, the fuzzy-PID controller for the system was also designed and simulated using MATLAB and Simulink and it gives a better performance objective (rise time of 1.0057s, settling time of 1.6019s, percentage overshoot of 1.8013, and steady-state error of 2.195e-6) over the PID and fuzzy controllers respectively. Therefore, the steady state error shows improved pointing accuracy of 2.195e-6
