Strange meson-nucleon states in the quark potential model
The quark potential model and resonating group method are used to investigate
the bound states and/or resonances. The model potential consists of
the t-channel and s-channel one-gluon exchange potentials and the confining
potential with incorporating the QCD renormalization correction and the
spin-orbital suppression effect in it. It was shown in our previous work that
by considering the color octet contribution, use of this model to investigate
the low energy elastic scattering leads to the results which are in pretty
good agreement with the experimental data. In this paper, the same model and
method are employed to calculate the masses of the bound systems.
For this purpose, the resonating group equation is transformed into a standard
Schr\"odinger equation in which a nonlocal effective interaction
potential is included. Solving the Schr\"odinger equation by the variational
method, we are able to reproduce the masses of some currently concerned
states and get a view that these states possibly exist as
molecular states. For the system, the same calculation gives no support to
the existence of the resonance which was announced
recently.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figure
Quantum Communication Network Utilizing Quadripartite Entangled States of Optical Field
We propose two types of quantum dense coding communication networks with
optical continuous variables, in which a quadripartite entangled state of the
optical field with totally three-party correlations of quadrature amplitudes is
utilized. In the networks, the exchange of information between any two
participants can be manipulated by one or two of the remaining participants.
The channel capacities for a variety of communication protocols are numerically
calculated. Due to the fact that the quadripartite entangled states applied in
the communication systems have been successfully prepared already in the
laboratory, the proposed schemes are experimentally accessible at present
Towards a semantic modeling of learners for social networks
The Friend of a Friend (FOAF) ontology is a vocabulary for mapping social networks. In this paper we propose an extension to FOAF in order to allow it to model learners and their social networks. We analyse FOAF alongside different learner modeling standards and specifications, and based on this analysis we introduce a taxonomy of the different features found in those models. We then compare the learner models and FOAF against the taxonomy to see how their characteristics have been shaped by their purpose. Based on this we propose extensions to FOAF in order to produce a learner model that is capable of forming the basis of a semantic social network.<br/
Relation between phase and dwell times for quantum tunneling of a relativistically propagating particle
The general and explicit relation between the phase time and the dwell time
for quantum tunneling of a relativistically propagating particle is
investigated and quantified. In analogy with previously obtained
non-relativistic results, it is shown that the group delay can be described in
terms of the dwell time and a self-interference delay. Lessons concerning the
phenomenology of the relativistic tunneling are drawn
Jet array impingement flow distributions and heat transfer characteristics. Effects of initial crossflow and nonuniform array geometry
Two-dimensional arrays of circular air jets impinging on a heat transfer surface parallel to the jet orifice plate are considered. The jet flow, after impingement, is constrained to exit in a single direction along the channel formed by the jet orifice plate and the heat transfer surface. The configurations considered are intended to model those of interest in current and contemplated gas turbine airfoil midchord cooling applications. The effects of an initial crossflow which approaches the array through an upstream extension of the channel are considered. Flow distributions as well as heat transfer coefficients and adiabatic wall temperatures resolved to one streamwise hole spacing were measured as a function of the initial crossflow rate and temperature relative to the jet flow rate and temperature. Both Nusselt number profiles and dimensionless adiabatic wall temperature (effectiveness) profiles are presented and discussed. Special test results which show a significant reduction of jet orifice discharge coefficients owing to the effect of a confined crossflow are also presented, along with a flow distribution model which incorporates those effects. A nonuniform array flow distribution model is developed and validated
Lie bialgebras of generalized Witt type
In a paper by Michaelis a class of infinite-dimensional Lie bialgebras
containing the Virasoro algebra was presented. This type of Lie bialgebras was
classified by Ng and Taft. In this paper, all Lie bialgebra structures on the
Lie algebras of generalized Witt type are classified. It is proved that, for
any Lie algebra of generalized Witt type, all Lie bialgebras on are
coboundary triangular Lie bialgebras. As a by-product, it is also proved that
the first cohomology group is trivial.Comment: 14 page
Cosmic ray feedback in the FIRE simulations: constraining cosmic ray propagation with GeV gamma ray emission
We present the implementation and the first results of cosmic ray (CR)
feedback in the Feedback In Realistic Environments (FIRE) simulations. We
investigate CR feedback in non-cosmological simulations of dwarf, sub-
starburst, and galaxies with different propagation models, including
advection, isotropic and anisotropic diffusion, and streaming along field lines
with different transport coefficients. We simulate CR diffusion and streaming
simultaneously in galaxies with high resolution, using a two moment method. We
forward-model and compare to observations of -ray emission from nearby
and starburst galaxies. We reproduce the -ray observations of dwarf and
galaxies with constant isotropic diffusion coefficient . Advection-only and streaming-only
models produce order-of-magnitude too large -ray luminosities in dwarf
and galaxies. We show that in models that match the -ray
observations, most CRs escape low-gas-density galaxies (e.g.\ dwarfs) before
significant collisional losses, while starburst galaxies are CR proton
calorimeters. While adiabatic losses can be significant, they occur only after
CRs escape galaxies, so they are only of secondary importance for -ray
emissivities. Models where CRs are ``trapped'' in the star-forming disk have
lower star formation efficiency, but these models are ruled out by -ray
observations. For models with constant that match the -ray
observations, CRs form extended halos with scale heights of several kpc to
several tens of kpc.Comment: 31 pages, 26 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA
Dense-coding quantum key distribution based on continuous-variable entanglement
We proposed a scheme of continuous-variable quantum key distribution, in
which the bright Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen entangled optical beams are utilized.
The source of the entangled beams is placed inside the receiving station, where
half of the entangled beams are transmitted with round trip and the other half
are retained by the receiver. The amplitude and phase signals modulated on the
signal beam by the sender are simultaneously extracted by the authorized
receiver with the scheme of the dense-coding correlation measurement for
continuous quantum variables, thus the channel capacity is significantly
improved. Two kinds of possible eavesdropping are discussed. The mutual
information and the secret key rates are calculated and compared with those of
unidirectional transmission schemes
