    High-order squeezing of the quantum electromagnetic field and the generalized uncertainty relations in two-mode squeezed states

    It is found that two-mode output quantum electromagnetic field in two-mode squeezed states exhibits higher-order squeezing to all even orders. And the generalized uncertainty relations are also presented for the first time. The concept of higher-order squeezing of the single-mode quantum electromagnetic field was first introduced and applied to several processes by Hong and Mandel in 1985. Lately Li Xizeng and Shan Ying have calculated the higher-order squeezing in the process of degenerate four-wave mixing and presented the higher-order uncertainty relations of the fields in single-mode squeezed states. In this paper we generalize the above work to the higher-order squeezing in two-mode squeezed states. The generalized uncertainty relations are also presented for the first time

    Brucella Dysregulates Monocytes and Inhibits Macrophage Polarization through LC3-Dependent Autophagy

    Brucellosis is caused by infection with Brucella species and exhibits diverse clinical manifestations in infected humans. Monocytes and macrophages are not only the first line of defense against Brucella infection but also a main reservoir for Brucella. In the present study, we examined the effects of Brucella infection on human peripheral monocytes and monocyte-derived polarized macrophages. We showed that Brucella infection led to an increase in the proportion of CD14++CD16− monocytes and the expression of the autophagy-related protein LC3B, and the effects of Brucella-induced monocytes are inhibited after 6 weeks of antibiotic treatment. Additionally, the production of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α from monocytes in patients with brucellosis was suppressed through the LC3-dependent autophagy pathway during Brucella infection. Moreover, Brucella infection inhibited macrophage polarization. Consistently, the addition of 3-MA, an inhibitor of LC3-related autophagy, partially restored macrophage polarization. Intriguingly, we also found that the upregulation of LC3B expression by rapamycin and heat-killed Brucella in vitro inhibits M2 macrophage polarization, which can be reversed partially by 3-MA. Taken together, these findings reveal that Brucella dysregulates monocyte and macrophage polarization through LC3-dependent autophagy. Thus, targeting this pathway may lead to the development of new therapeutics against Brucellosis

    Original Article Phase II clinical trial of palonosetron combined with tropisetron in preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting

    Abstract: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of palonosetron combined with tropisetron in preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. A total of 82 non-small cell lung cancer patients undergoing Docetaxel combined with Cisplatin were randomly divided into group A and group B. The patients were received palonosetron combined with tropisetron (group A, n = 42) or tropisetron alone (group B, n = 40) before initiation of chemotherapy. The nausea degree, antiemetic efficacy and safety after chemotherapy were evaluated. Patients were administered for rescue therapy if needed. Results showed no significant difference in complete remission rate (CRR) during acute phase (0-24 h post chemotherapy) between group A and group B (90.48% versus 75%, P > 0.05). The CRR of group A during delayed (24-120 h post chemotherapy) and overall phases (0-120 h post chemotherapy) were 83.33% and 78.57%, higher than group B (50% and 42.50%, P < 0.05). AS for the improvement rate of nausea during delayed phase, group A is better than group B (57.14% versus 35%, P < 0.05). The adverse drug reactions of two groups were mild and generally well tolerated, including headache, constipation and abdominal distension, and no statistically significant differences were observed. In conclusions, compared to tropisetron alone, the therapy of palonosetron plus tropisetron is more effective and safer in controlling of nausea and vomiting induced by high emetic risk chemotherapy

    The value of total tumor diameter in unilateral multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma: a propensity score matching analysis

    BackgroundTumor multifocality is frequently observed in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, the maximum tumor diameter (MTD), currently utilized in various staging schemes, might not accurately indicate the level of aggressiveness exhibited by multifocal tumors. We aimed to investigate the relationship between total tumor diameter (TTD) and clinicopathological features of papillary thyroid carcinoma.MethodsRetrospective data analysis was done on 1936 individuals who underwent complete thyroidectomy for PTC. Patients were classified into subgroups according to unilateral multifocality, central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) and lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM). The relationships of clinicopathological features among these groups were analyzed.ResultsUnilateral multifocality was observed in 117 patients. The clinicopathological features of the unilateral multifocal PTC were similar to the unifocal PTC with approximate TTD. The unilateral multifocality played no independent role in CLNM and LLNM. Moreover, the efficiency of TTD in predicting CLNM and LLNM was significantly higher than that of MTD.ConclusionIn the case of unilateral multifocal PTC, TTD is a more accurate indicator of the biological characteristics of the tumor than MTD

    Two novel species and three new records of Torulaceae from Yunnan Province, China

    While investigating the diversity of lignicolous fungi in Yunnan Province, China, six fresh collections of Torulaceae were collected and identified based on morphological examination and phylogenetic analyses of combined LSU, ITS, SSU, tef1-α, and rpb2 sequence data. Two new species, viz. Neopodoconis yunnanensis and Torula suae, and three new records, viz. T. canangae (new freshwater habitat record), T. masonii (new host record), and T. sundara (new freshwater habitat record) are reported. Detailed descriptions, illustrations, and a phylogenetic tree to show the placement of these species are provided
