Aim. To study the effect of intermittent normobaric hypoxia (INH) during local irradiation of the rat liver in therapeutic doses (total focal dose 30 Gy for 10 fractions) on the biochemical parameters of blood serum characterizing liver function. Materials and methods. Blood sampling in the animals of the control group and in three tested groups was performed prior to the experiment and following the experiment (after 20 days), respectively. The following criteria of hepatocyte toxicity were investigated: the level of the general and direct bilirubin, general cholesterol and triglycerides, high- and low-density lipoproteins, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activity. Blood tests were performed using a Sapphire-400 (Tokyo Boeki ltd, Japan) automatic clinical analyzer with the standard Cormay (Poland) sets of reactants. Results. The experiment showed that the local radiation therapy on the liver region led to a growth in the indicators of pigment exchange, total cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins, triglycerides zdfl and transaminase activity. At the same time, the high-density lipoprotein level decreased. In the tested animals, INH application caused an increase in the bilirubin level and a change in lipid exchange indicators of the opposite direction in comparison with the animals receiving radiation therapy. INH did not change the transaminase activity. Liver radiation against the INH background led to less pronounced changes in blood biochemical indicators than in the group of animals having received exclusively radiation therapy. Such changes in blood indicators can be explained by a radioprotective effect of intermittent normobaric hypoxia. Conclusion. Intermittent normobaric hypoxia has a normalizing effect on the blood biochemical indices when performing local radiation therapy on the liver region

This article is a continuation of studies devoted to the interaction of the region and its banking system. The research object in this article is the banking system of the Rostov region, the Southern Federal District, and its impact on the acceleration of socioeconomic development of both the regions. The subject of the study is interaction of banks with the real sector of the economy and the population of the region. The authors analyzed the scientific sources exploring the interaction of the banking and real sectors of the economy and methodological approaches to the analysis of banking activities’s effects on the region and its socio-economic indicators. Based on econometric modeling, quantitative and qualitative regularities of the indicators are revealed. As a result, authors concluded that the growth in the total volume of profits received by existing credit institutions contributes to the growth of such important socio-economic indicators like Gross Regional Product, internal costs of research and development, labor productivity, fixed asset investments, per capita income, growth of deposits attracted by credit institutions, as well as the growth in the amount of debt on loans extended by credit institutions to legal entities and individuals.peer-reviewe

The article is devoted to the analysis of the influence of the indicators of regional economic and social functioning on the results of the regional banking system’s activity. The authors chose the indicators of social and economic development of the Rostov region and commercial banks operating in its financial market as objects for the study. In the article the authors analyzed the methodologies that focus on assessing the impact of macroeconomic indicators on the banking system of the region. Besides, on the basis of econometric modeling quantitative and qualitative patterns of interrelations between the indicators of social and economic development of the regional economy and banking in the region are defined. As a result of the study, the authors concluded that the determining socio-economic factors that have a significant positive impact on the development of the banking system in the region are: the number of advanced technologies used; per capita monetary income; the transport infrastructure development level; the level of human capital; internal expenditures on research and development; gross regional product; value of fixed assets; fixed capital investment; retail trade turnover.peer-reviewe

Numerical Analysis of Liquid Menisci in the EFG Technique

This chapter is devoted to the analysis of the behavior of the profile curves of the melt menisci for the sapphire crystal growth by edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) technique. The menisci of the shaped crystals with capillary channels, fibers, and tubes (including cases of outer and inner circular menisci) are considered. Also, we investigated the profile curves of menisci both in the cases of the positive and negative angles between profile curve and the working edge of the die. The cases of outer and inner circular menisci of the tubular crystals and menisci at capillaries and fibers are considered
