Electronic tuning and uniform superconductivity in CeCoIn5
We report a globally reversible effect of electronic tuning on the magnetic
phase diagram in CeCoIn_{5} driven by electron (Pt and Sn) and hole (Cd, Hg)
doping. Consequently, we are able to extract the superconducting pair breaking
component for hole and electron dopants with pressure and co-doping studies,
respectively. We find that these nominally non-magnetic dopants have a
remarkably weak pair breaking effect for a d-wave superconductor. The pair
breaking is weaker for hole dopants, which induce magnetic moments, than for
electron dopants. Furthermore, both Pt and Sn doping have a similar effect on
superconductivity despite being on different dopant sites, arguing against the
notion that superconductivity lives predominantly in the CeIn_{3} planes of
these materials. In addition, we shed qualitative understanding on the doping
dependence with density functional theory calculations.Comment: Accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. Lett. (October 1, 2012
Trust in the public sector: Is there any evidence for a long-term decline?
Concerns with declining public trust in government have become a permanent element of the contemporary political discourse. This concern also extends to levels of citizens’ trust in the public administration and public services. Trust is said to be declining, and this decline is generally seen as detrimental to public service delivery. In this article, we examine the main elements in this discussion, review the existing international survey data and summarise the main findings for OECD countries. Citizens’ trust in the public sector is found to fluctuate, and the data generally do not show consistently declining levels of trust. Furthermore, in some countries there simply is insufficient data to come to any conclusions at all about time trends in citizen trust in the public sector.
Points for practitioners
This article summarises some of the survey material on citizens’ trust in the public administration. It allows practitioners to compare trends in public trust in their country across time and space. The findings lead us to reject the hypothesis of a universal decline of trust in the public sector. The article warns against using opinion poll results without considering context. The long-term and comparative perspective on citizens’ trust in the public sector is all too often absent from the policy discourse that is frequently based on assumptions and ad-hoc approaches
Les fluctuations saisonniéres de la rotation du globe terrestre et la circulation atmosphérique générale
Seasonal fluctuations in the rate of rotation of the Earth are detected when checking the best clocks with astronomical time. These variations may be shown to result from transfer of momentum between the atmosphere and the globe. As a consequence, the study of these fluctuations may bring interesting information in the field of meteorology.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Critical Review of Visual Models for Police Use of Force Decision-Making
Recent calls for widespread police reform include re-examination of existing training and practice surrounding the use of force (UOF, e.g., verbal and non-verbal communication, physical tactics, firearms). Visual models representing police UOF decision-making are used for both police training and public communication. However, most models have not been empirically developed or assessed in either the applied police or vision science literatures, representing significant gaps in knowledge. The purpose of the current review is to provide a novel, relevant, and practical analysis of the visual components of three common police UOF decision-making model types (circular, cyclical, staircase). We begin with a critical evaluation of the visual features specific to each model type (i.e., shape), followed by critical reviews of common visual features, including colour, implied motion, text, and clarity. The insights provided by the current work afford scientists from visual disciplines a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of existing police UOF practices, with the goal of promoting public and occupational safety. To this end, we conclude with evidence-based recommendations for designing visual models that effectively promote training of police and communication of police UOF decision-making to the public
PROPERTIES OF SURGICAL TACTICS IN TREATMENT OF TUMOROUS COLONIC OBSTRUCTION
Among all forms of intestinal obstruction, colonic obstruction make 30-40 %. 93% of colonic obstruction is tumorous colonic obstruction. In this report we overview results of diagnostics and treatment of 226 patients with different rate of tumorous colonic obstruction. Results: in case of effectiveness of nonsurgical treatment, it would be well to resect a primary tumor; in case of ineffectiveness of nonsurgical treatment - would be well to form a stoma; resectable metastases in liver or lungs don’t hamper the resect a primary tumor
Расширение полномочий специалиста в досудебном производстве – необходимое условие повышения качества производства следственных действий, направленных на получение показаний
Based on the analysis of domestic historical experience and the current state of the legislative regulation of the involvement of a specialist to assist an investigator in investigative proceedings, as well as the survey of investigators, it is concluded that it is necessary to expand the powers of a specialist in terms of rendering assistance to an investigator during investigative actions aimed at obtaining testimony (including interrogation). In this regard, proposals to amend the wording of Articles 38 and 58 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation are made. The proposed changes will significantly expand the powers of a specialist in the course of all investigative actions (including verbal ones) and will correspond to the modern trends in the development of criminal proceedings, increasing its quality by attracting specific knowledge and skills from various fields of human activityНа основе анализа отечественного исторического опыта и современного состояния законодательного регулирования привлечения специалиста для
