Heart Rate Variations Analysis: Traditions, Misconceptions, Perspectives

The article is devoted to the heart rate 'variability' analysis from the history of the issue to the current Euro-American and Russian recommendations. The aim of this work was to analyze the correctness of these documents from the point of view of both physiology and algorithms for identifying and applying quantitative parameters of heart rate variations. The methodological and algorithmic imperfection of the applied approaches is shown. Ways to overcome the existing problems are proposed. © 2021 IEEE

This article is devoted to the issue of professional training for the new organizational-technological area of health care - telemedicine. The history of this area development in Russia, basic concepts and definitions is briefly considered. The paper considers the shortcomings of the current Euro-American and Russian recommendations for the analysis of heart rate variability. The documents adopted in 1996 and 2000 contain a number of erroneous grounds that can lead to incorrect conclusions when used both in research work and in practical medicine. Based on the research of many scientists in biology, medicine and other fields of knowledge for decades, the authors come to the conclusion that it is necessary to develop new recommendations, devoid of the identified shortcomings.В работе рассмотрены недостатки действующих евро-американских и российских рекомендаций по анализу вариаций ритма сердца (heart rate variability). Принятые в 1996 и 2000 годах документы содержат ряд ошибочных положений, которые могут приводить к неверным заключениям при их использовании как в исследовательской работе, так и в практической медицине. Опираясь на исследования многих учёных в биологии, медицине и других областях знания на протяжении десятков лет, авторы приходят к выводу о необходимости разработки новых рекомендаций, лишенных выявленных недостатков

Electrical Conductivity of Human Skin: Some Metrological Aspects

The article is devoted to the metrological aspects of measuring the electrical conductivity of human skin. These measurements are an integral part of a number of functional diagnostics techniques: electroencephalography, electrophthalmography, electromyography etc. In electropuncture diagnostics, based on a comparison of electrical conductivity at individual acupuncture points with the average for all measured points, the formulation and the nature of the operation on the body are selected. With various methods of electrical stimulation of organs, the effectiveness of the operation depends on the electrical conductivity of the skin. However, until now, there are no generally accepted points of view on the parameters of measuring circuits and the applicability of electrodes made of different materials in the measurement procedure. Since we were unable to find a systematic presentation on this issue in the available sources, we undertook a large study, the first report of which is presented in this article. © 2021 IEEE

ЧТО И КАК ИЗМЕРЯТЬ В ЭЛЕКТРОПУНКТУРНОЙ ДИАГНОСТИКЕ?

This article is devoted to the study of some methodological and metrological aspects of measuring the electrical conductivity of human skin for diagnostic purposes. Over the past four decades, reflex therapists in many countries have been using various methods and devices of electropuncture diagnostics to determine the prescription and the type of exposure to the patient. At first, these were analog devices that did not allow assessing the influence of the measuring circuits components on the measurement results. Following the advent of technologies for digitizing the measurement process and digital processing of measured values time series, it became possible to determine the optimal parameters of measurement techniques, to link the measured parameters with the processes taking place in the human body, and to create adequate mathematical models. Since we were unable to find a systematic presentation on this issue in the available sources, we undertook a large study, the first report of which is presented in this article.Эта статья посвящена исследованию некоторых методических и метрологических аспектов измерения электропроводности кожи человека в диагностических целях. В течение четырёх последних десятилетий рефлексотерапевтами многих стран используются различные методы и приборы электропунктурной диагностики для определения рецепта и типа воздействия на пациента. Вначале это были аналоговые приборы, не позволявшие оценить влияние составляющих измерительных цепей на результаты измерений. Вслед за появлением технологий оцифровки процесса измерения и цифровой обработки временных рядов измеренных значений появилась возможность определить оптимальные параметры методик измерения, связать измеряемые параметры с процессами, происходящими в организме человека, и создать адекватные математические модели. Поскольку нам не удалось в доступных источниках обнаружить систематического изложения по данному вопросу, мы предприняли большое исследование, первое сообщение о котором представляем в этой статье
