    An Analysis of Theme and Rheme Used in the Five-star Hotels' Web Sites in Surabaya

    The study done by the writer observes the themes and rhemes used in the five-star hotels' web sites in Surabaya. It includes the types of themes and the notions of subject which are under the Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) proposed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2004). In addition, the data of the study are in the form of text and taken from seven Surabaya five-star hotels' web sites. The writer also used a descriptive qualitative approach in analyzing the 155 data. From the analysis, it is found the two kinds of structure of theme and rheme used by the hotels in their web sites. The hotels also used three types of theme which are simple theme, clause as a theme, and thematic equative. In terms of the subjects (psychological subject, grammatical subject, and logical subject), the hotels are able to fulfill either one, two, or three notions of subject

    The Discovery of 8.7s Pulsations from the Ultrasoft X-Ray Source 4u0142+614

    We discovered a periodicity at about 8.7s from the X--ray sources 4U0142+61, previously considered a possible black hole candidate on the basis of its ultrasoft spectrum. The pulsations are visible only in the 1--4 keV energy range, during an observation obtained with the EXOSAT satellite in August 1984. A search for delays in the pulse arrival times caused by orbital motion gave negative results. In the same data, periodic oscillations at 25 minutes had been previously found in an additional hard spectral component dominating above 4 keV which arises from the X-ray transient RX J0146.9+6121, discovered with ROSAT and identified with a Be star. Though the very high (>10^4) X--ray to optical flux ratio of 4U0142+61 is compatible with models based on an isolated neutron star, the simplest explanation involves a low mass X--ray binary with a very faint companion, similar to 4U1626--67. The discovery of periodic pulsations from 4U0142+61 weakens the phenomenological criterion that an ultrasoft spectral component is a signature of accreting black holes.Comment: plain LaTeX v3.1, 14 pages + 2 PostScript figures available upon request to [email protected] .     The use of cost accounting systems by hotel businesses is improving the quality of decision making. The development of theories on costing, combined with advances in information technology, has improved the theoretical capabilities of such systems. However, two questions remain largely unanswered: a) whether these theories lead to tangible improvements; and b) what are the variables that drive the success of cost accounting systems.     SMA applications in an innovative multishot deployment mechanism

    An innovative Deployment and Retraction hinge Mechanism (DARM) in the frame of a technological program is examined. The mechanism includes two restraint/release devices, which enable it to be stable in its stowed or deployed position while sustaining all associated loads, and to carry its payload by remote command. The main characteristics of the DARM are as follows: deployment and retraction movements are spring actuated; the available amount of functional sequences is almost unlimited; and no use of electrical motors is made. These features were accomplished by: the application of a special kinematic scheme to the mechanical connection between the spring motor and the swivel head arm; and the use of shape memory alloys (SMA) actuators for both release and spring recharge functions. DARM is thus a mechanism which can find many applications in the general space scenario of in-orbit maintenance and servicing. In such a frame, the DARM typical concept, which has a design close to very simple one-shot deployment mechanisms, has a good chance to replace existing analog machines. Potential items that could be moved by DARM are: booms for satellite instruments; antenna reflector tips; entire antenna reflectors; and solar panels

    Hybrid lattice Boltzmann model for binary fluid mixtures

    A hybrid lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for binary mixtures based on the free-energy approach is proposed. Non-ideal terms of the pressure tensor are included as a body force in the LBM kinetic equations, used to simulate the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations. The convection-diffusion equation is studied by finite difference methods. Differential operators are discretized in order to reduce the magnitude of spurious velocities. The algorithm has been shown to be stable and reproducing the correct equilibrium behavior in simple test configurations and to be Galilean invariant. Spurious velocities can be reduced of about an order of magnitude with respect to standard discretization procedure.Comment: Final version, to appear in Phys. Rev.

    LNRF-velocity hump-induced oscillations of a Keplerian disc orbiting near-extreme Kerr black hole: A possible explanation of high-frequency QPOs in GRS 1915+105

    At least four high-frequency quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs) at frequencies 41Hz, 67Hz, 113Hz, and 167Hz were reported in a binary system GRS 1915+105 hosting near-extreme Kerr black hole with a dimensionless spin a>0.98. We use the idea of oscillations induced by the hump of the orbital velocity profile (related to locally non-rotating frames - LNRF) in discs orbiting near-extreme Kerr black holes, which are characterized by a "humpy frequency" f_h, that could excite the radial and vertical epicyclic oscillations with frequencies f_r, f_v. Due to non-linear resonant phenomena the combinational frequencies are allowed as well. Assuming mass M=14.8M_sun and spin a=0.9998 for the GRS 1915+105 Kerr black hole, the model predicts frequencies f_h=41Hz, f_r=67Hz, (f_h+f_r)=108Hz, (f_v-f_r)=170Hz corresponding quite well to the observed ones. For black-hole parameters being in good agreement with those given observationally, the forced resonant phenomena in non-linear oscillations, excited by the "hump-induced" oscillations in a Keplerian disc, can explain high-frequency QPOs in GRS 1915+105 within the range of observational errors.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, accepted for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysics, added references, corrected typo
