A total of 67 species of long-horned grasshoppers and crickets were reported to occur in Indiana by Blatchley (1903) in his Orthoptera of Indiana. Distributional information concerning thek species was sparse and has not been significantly supplemented since that time. Subsequent works which have dealt either heavily or exclusively with the Indiana fauna include Fox (1915), Blatchley (1920), Cantrall and Young (1954), and Young and Cantrall(1956)

Modelling commercial vehicle handling and rolling stability
YesThis paper presents a multi-degrees-of-freedom non-linear multibody dynamic
model of a three-axle heavy commercial vehicle tractor unit, comprising a subchassis, front
and rear leaf spring suspensions, steering system, and ten wheels/tyres, with a semi-trailer
comprising two axles and eight wheels/tyres. The investigation is mainly concerned with the
rollover stability of the articulated vehicle. The models incorporate all sources of compliance,
stiffness, and damping, all with non-linear characteristics, and are constructed and simulated
using automatic dynamic analysis of mechanical systems formulation. A constant radius turn
test and a single lane change test (according to the ISO Standard) are simulated. The constant
radius turn test shows the understeer behaviour of the vehicle, and the single lane change
manoeuvre was conducted to show the transient behaviour of the vehicle. Non-stable roll
and yaw behaviour of the vehicle is predicted at test speeds .90 km/h. Rollover stability of
the vehicle is also investigated using a constant radius turn test with increasing speed.
The articulated laden vehicle model predicted increased understeer behaviour, due to higher
load acting on the wheels of the middle and rear axles of the tractor and the influence of the
semi-trailer, as shown by the reduced yaw rate and the steering angle variation during the constant
radius turn. The rollover test predicted a critical lateral acceleration value where complete
rollover occurs. Unstable behaviour of the articulated vehicle is also predicted in the single lane
change manoeuvre
Resolution of Occlusive Carotid Artery Thrombus Treated with Anticoagulation as Demonstrated on Duplex Ultrasonography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: While the majority of cerebral ischemic events due to carotid occlusive disease result from atherosclerotic plaque rupture, intraluminal carotid artery thrombus occasionally occurs in patients without preexisting carotid atherosclerosis. Identification of nonatherosclerotic thrombus as the cause of the carotid occlusive disease can obviate the need for an interventional procedure, and resolution of thrombus can be monitored with B-mode duplex ultrasonography.
METHODS: We reviewed 3 patients treated on The Mount Sinai Hospital Stroke Unit with anticoagulation for nonatherosclerotic carotid thrombi and followed with serial Doppler ultrasonogrpahy for resolution of thrombus.
RESULTS: Occlusive carotid thrombus was successfully treated in all 3 patients with systemic anticoagulation. B-mode duplex ultrasonography allowed for demonstration of resolving thrombus.
CONCLUSION: Differentiation between a stenotic plaque and occlusive thrombus can be achieved by ultrasonographic analysis of thrombus morphology, attachment site potential, and characteristics of a resolving thrombus. Systemic anticoagulation can safely and effectively eliminate the risk for future embolization and complete occlusion of the carotid artery in patients who present with transient ischemic events or completed infarcts of small size
Optimal Fleet Size When National Quotas Can Be Traded
Assuming stochastic quotas for a fish stock that is shared between two nations, we find the optimal fleet size for one of them by maximizing expected profit under the assumption that national quotas can be traded and that stable national quotas is a political goal. Magnetic correlations of the quasi-one-dimensional half-integer spin-chain antiferromagnets SrVO ( = Co, Mn)
Magnetic correlations of two iso-structural quasi-one-dimensional (1D)
antiferromagnetic spin-chain compounds SrVO ( = Co, Mn) have
been investigated by magnetization and powder neutron diffraction. Two
different collinear antiferromagnetic (AFM) structures, characterized by the
propagation vectors, = (0 0 1) and = (0 0 0), have been found below
5.2 K and 42.2 K for the Co- and Mn-compounds, respectively. For
the Mn-compound, AFM chains (along the axis) order ferromagnetically within
the plane, whereas, for the Co-compound, AFM chains order
ferro-/antiferromagnetically along the direction. The critical exponent
study confirms that the Co- and Mn-compounds belong to the Ising and Heisenberg
universality classes, respectively. For both compounds, short-range spin-spin
correlations are present over a wide temperature range above . The reduced
ordered moments at base temperature (1.5 K) indicate the presence of quantum
fluctuations in both compounds due to the quasi-1D magnetic interactions.Comment: 14 pages, 10 figures, 9 table
Scanner observations of selected cool stars
Photoelectric spectral scans at 30-A resolution of 9 dwarfs, 10 giants and 6 supergiants with spectral types GO to M5 were presented. All stars were observed every 4 A from wavelength 3300 to wavelength 7000. Absorption features at this resolution coincide with: strong atomic lines of Fe 1,11, Ca 1,11, Mg 1, and Na 1; vibrational bands of the electronic transitions of TiO, MgH, CaH, SiH, AlH, Cn, Ch, C2, OH, and NH. Extending Producer Responsibility: An Evaluation Framework for Product Take-Back Policies
Manufacturers are increasingly being required to adhere to product take-back regulations that require them to manage their products at the end of life. Such regulations seek to internalize products' entire life cycle costs into market prices, with the ultimate objective of reducing their environmental burden. This article provides a framework to evaluate the potential for take-back regulations to actually lead to reduced environmental impacts and to stimulate product design changes. It describes trade-offs associated with several major policy decisions, including whether to hold firms physically or financially responsible for the recovery of their products, when to impose recycling fees, whether to include disposal and hazardous substance bans, and whether to mandate product design features to foster reuse and recycling of components and materials. The framework also addresses policy elements that can significantly affect the cost efficiency and occupational safety hazards of end-of-life product recovery operations. The evaluation framework is illustrated with examples drawn from take-back regulations promulgated in Europe, Japan, and the United States governing waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
