A study of A8 and A2 migrants in Nottingham
The research was commissioned by Nottingham City Council and One Nottingham in August 2008 and was conducted by a team of researchers from the Salford Housing & Urban Studies Unit at the University of Salford. The study was greatly aided by research support from Nottingham City Council Children’s Services Asylum Seeker/Refugee Support Team, as well as a number of community interviewers. The project was managed by a steering group composed of officers representing Nottingham City Council, One Nottingham, Nottingham City Homes, NHS Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, Nottinghamshire Police and Basic Educational Guidance in Nottinghamshire (BEGIN). Core Competencies and Christian Education: An Integrative Approach to Education in Marriage and Family Therapy Programs
For educating marriage and family therapy (MFT) students, there has been an increasing emphasis on their ability to demonstrate a series of core competencies as identified by the American Associate for Marriage and Family (AAMFT) (Nelson et al., 2007). This type of therapist education from outcome-based education (OBE) fosters the characteristics or worldview associated with educational institutions and the profession. At the most general level, OBE is education or socialization into the professional MFT worldview. As a corrective to this, there is a need to seek this moral character in a Christian worldview which emphasizes a metanarrative informed by the Bible as well as Christian tradition. Therefore, moral character must be identified and developed in a Christian moral community. This Christian moral education and participation in moral community encourage Christian virtues such as faith, hope, and love

Understanding what you know, think or believe about a topic is essential if you are to write clearly about that topic. Yet it is often difficult for young writers to know what they think and, certainly, even more difficult for them to organize their thinking. Simply telling students to write more clearly or to make their point more effectively will not make them able to do so. They must be taught how to become aware of their thoughts and feelings and how to organize them to effectively communicate them through their writing
Trace Metals and Major Elements in Water-Soluble Rocks of Northwest Arkansas
Trace metals in limestone are potential water contaminants because they can enter the ground water when the limestone is dissolved by carbonic acid and other naturally occurring acids. Four local limestones, the St. Joe and Pitkin Formations (Mississippian) and the Brentwood and Kessler Members of the Bloyd Formation (Pennsylvanian) were sampled in a five county area in Northwest Arkansas. Atomic absorption analyses were made for Na, K, Mg, Ca, Zh, Cu, Ba, Fe, Co, Cr, Ni, Mn, Li and Sr on the acid soluble material of the samples. All the limestones are relatively pure CaCO3 with Pitkin the purest, 93.4%. Calcium and acid soluble material values varied only 3-5% from the average among the limestones whereas 71-108% variation occurred for Fe, Mn, K and Cr. Other elements showed intermediate variations. Only Fe and Mn are present on the average in the limestones at concentration levels which might lead to contamination of ground water to undesirably high levels. Analyses compare well with the reported average limestone except for acid insoluble elements which were not dissolved in our scheme and lithium (1.5 ppm average vs 20 in reference). Ratios of Sr/Ca and Mg/Ca were similar to reported values for limestones of comparable geologic age. Maxima in the areal variation of these ratios occurred at about the same latitude for three of the formations. The areal variation of Fe/Ca and Mn/Ca was also determined for the four limestone formations. Interelement correlations in the limestones showed: Na, Sr, Li, Fe and Zn contents increased with Mg content; Mn and Cr increased with Fe content. Indications were obtained that detrital and other materials not in the calcite structure can be determined by their relative insolubility in acetic acid compared to hydrochloric acid
Assessing Challenges Associated with Sampling Hexavalent Chromium under New Consensus Guidelilnes
Hexavalent chromium is a corrosion inhibitor found in the primer of most aircraft platforms across the Department of Defense (DoD), from fighter jets to transports. It is also known to cause cancer in humans. Currently, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) legal exposure limit is 5 μg/m3 for workers exposed to hexavalent chromium. A non-regulatory scientific body has recently recommended lowering this exposure level over a factor of ten and sampling with a different sampler that collects particles with the same efficiency as the nose during inhalation. This inhalable sampler collects more particles than the one currently used to comply with OSHA law. An early estimate of the cost of adopting this non-regulatory exposure standard is $900M over five years across the DoD, due in no small part to the likelihood that workers would need new, more restrictive personal protective equipment. Before adopting this new standard, two open points exist: based on DoD processes, is the inhalable sampler necessary and what impact to the sampler efficiency occurs if the flow rate is increased. To answer the first question, real world abrasive blasting processes were sampled and analyzed for particle size distribution. For the second aim, the mass concentrations of samplers operating at their design 2 L/min flow rate were compared to the mass concentrations reported by samplers operating at 6 L/min. From the abrasive blasting processes sample analysis, it was determined use of the inhalable sampler is justified. A 30% positive bias was found when comparing the higher flow rate to the lower flow rate mass concentrations. If the DoD adopts the new recommendation, it is likely over-reporting of hexavalent chromium concentrations in the workplace will occur

Haley Steele presented a graduate voice recital on March 30th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in Davis Hall of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at the University of Northern Iowa. The recital was presented in partial fulfillment of requirements for the Master of Music degree in voice performance. The program included selections by Hugo Wolf, JoaquÃn Rodrigo, and early songs by Claude Debussy, in addition to a chamber piece for horn and soprano by Otto Nicolai and selections from a contemporary song cycle titled The Wild Iris by Forrest Pierce. This recital abstract surveys this repertoire with regard to relevant, historical performance practices, poetic and compositional techniques, and context for the selections within traditional high-voice repertoire
