Modeling of atmospheric air quality in the Tomsk using WRF/CAMx complex

    Get PDF
The results of numerical modeling of meteorological parameters and concentrations of small components of atmospheric air Tomsk city obtained using the Weather Research & Forecasting (WRF) and Comprehensive Air quality Model with eXtensions (CAMx) models are presented. Several periods were selected when increased concentrations of pollutants were observed with the TOR-station of the IAO SB RAS to estimate the level of atmospheric air quality in the city based on numerical modeling. For these periods, the values of the Air Quality Index were calculated using the WRF/CAMx complex with using US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) recommendations. The obtained results of the numerical forecast show the possibility of the formation of a high level of air pollution under certine meteorological conditions in the city

The isospin violating decay f1(1285)π+ππ0f_1(1285)\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0 has been studied at VES facility. This study is based at the statistics acquired in πBe\pi^- Be interactions at 27, 36.6 and 41 GeV/c in diffractive reaction πN(f1π)N\pi^- N \to (f_1 \pi^-) N. The f1(1285)π+ππ0f_1(1285) \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0 decay is observed. The ratio of decay probabilities BR(f1(1285)π+ππ0)BR(f_1(1285) \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0) to BR(f1(1285)ηπ+π)BR(ηγγ)BR(f_1(1285) \to \eta \pi^+\pi^-) \cdot BR(\eta \to \gamma\gamma) is 1.4\sim\:1.4%.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, presented at XII Conference on Hadron Spectroscop

Shed urinary ALCAM is an independent prognostic biomarker of three-year overall survival after cystectomy in patients with bladder cancer.

Proteins involved in tumor cell migration can potentially serve as markers of invasive disease. Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule (ALCAM) promotes adhesion, while shedding of its extracellular domain is associated with migration. We hypothesized that shed ALCAM in biofluids could be predictive of progressive disease. ALCAM expression in tumor (n = 198) and shedding in biofluids (n = 120) were measured in two separate VUMC bladder cancer cystectomy cohorts by immunofluorescence and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. The primary outcome measure was accuracy of predicting 3-year overall survival (OS) with shed ALCAM compared to standard clinical indicators alone, assessed by multivariable Cox regression and concordance-indices. Validation was performed by internal bootstrap, a cohort from a second institution (n = 64), and treatment of missing data with multiple-imputation. While ALCAM mRNA expression was unchanged, histological detection of ALCAM decreased with increasing stage (P = 0.004). Importantly, urine ALCAM was elevated 17.0-fold (P < 0.0001) above non-cancer controls, correlated positively with tumor stage (P = 0.018), was an independent predictor of OS after adjusting for age, tumor stage, lymph-node status, and hematuria (HR, 1.46; 95% CI, 1.03-2.06; P = 0.002), and improved prediction of OS by 3.3% (concordance-index, 78.5% vs. 75.2%). Urine ALCAM remained an independent predictor of OS after accounting for treatment with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin, carcinoma in situ, lymph-node dissection, lymphovascular invasion, urine creatinine, and adjuvant chemotherapy (HR, 1.10; 95% CI, 1.02-1.19; P = 0.011). In conclusion, shed ALCAM may be a novel prognostic biomarker in bladder cancer, although prospective validation studies are warranted. These findings demonstrate that markers reporting on cell motility can act as prognostic indicators

The Effect of Tile Light Collection Reduction along Radius on the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter Uniformity

    Get PDF
We report on the light collection non uniformity of trapezoidal scintillating tiles along radius and its consequence on the miscalibration of the middle and back longitudinal calorimeter samplings. We discuss the need to apply extra corrections to the cells response after equalization and corrections obtained by the cesium calibration system, in order to bring all three longitudinal samplings to the right electromagnetic scale

The assessment of the atmospheric air quality in Tomsk with the use of a mesoscale photochemical model

    Get PDF
The paper presents the results of studying the influence of the development of meteorological situation in clear weather with a weak wind on the level of atmospheric surface air pollution in the city of Tomsk (Russia). Mesoscale meteorological and photochemical models with a new kinetic scheme were applied to the analysis. The main local weather conditions were identified, in which numerical calculations show increased values of the air pollution index. The numerical predictions have confirmed an increase in the ground-level concentration of pollutants in the presence of temperature inversion or isothermy

    A PMT-Block test bench

    Get PDF
The front-end electronics of the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter (Tile Cal) is housed in a unit, called {\it PMT-Block}. The PMT-Block is a compact instrument comprising a light mixer, a PMT together with its divider and a {\it 3-in-1} card, which provides shaping, amplification and integration for the signals. This instrument needs to be qualified before being assembled on the detector. A PMT-Block test bench has been developed for this purpose. This test bench is a system which allows fast, albeit accurate enough, measurements of the main properties of a complete PMT-Block. The system, both hardware and software, and the protocol used for the PMT-Blocks characterisation are described in detail in this report. The results obtained in the test of about 10000 PMT-Blocks needed for the instrumentation of the ATLAS (LHC-CERN) hadronic Tile Calorimeter are also reported.Comment: 23 pages, 10 figure
