Impact of Relay Location of STANC Bi-Directional Transmission for Future Autonomous Internet of Things Applications

    Get PDF
Wireless communication using existing coding models poses several challenges for RF signals due to multipath scattering, rapid fluctuations in signal strength and path loss effect. Unlike existing works, this study presents a novel coding technique based on Analogue Network Coding (ANC) in conjunction with Space Time Block Coding (STBC), termed as Space Time Analogue Network Coding (STANC). STANC achieves the transmitting diversity (virtual MIMO) and supports big data networks under low transmitting power conditions. Furthermore, this study evaluates the impact of relay location on smart devices network performance in increasing interfering and scattering environments. The performance of STANC is analyzed for Internet of Things (IoT) applications in terms of Symbol Error Rate (SER) and the outage probability that are calculated using analytical derivation of expression for Moment Generating Function (MGF). In addition, the ergodic capacity is analyzed using mean and second moment. These expressions enable effective evaluation of the performance and capacity under different relay location scenario. Different fading models are used to evaluate the effect of multipath scattering and strong signal reflection. Under such unfavourable environments, the performance of STANC outperforms the conventional methods such as physical layer network coding (PNC) and ANC adopted for two way transmission

Tempered subanalytic topology on algebraic varieties

On a smooth algebraic variety over C\mathbb{C}, we build the tempered subanalytic and Stein tempered subanalytic sites. We construct the sheaf of holomorphic functions tempered at infinity over these sites and study their relations with the sheaf of regular functions, proving in particular that these sheaves are isomorphic on Zariski open subsets. We show that these data allow to define the functors of tempered and Stein tempered analytifications. We study the relations between these two functors and the usual analytification functor. We also obtain algebraization results in the non-proper case and flatness results.Comment: 24 pages. Preliminary version. Comments are welcom

The inclination of the earth\u27s equatorial plane to the plane of the earth\u27s orbit around the sun, termed the obliquity of the ecliptic by astronomer\u27s, is approximately equal to 23º27\u27 of arc. If this inclination were 0º the sun would remain directly overhead the Equator throughout the year and there would be no seasons. In reality, the directly overhead point of the sun moves north and south with the seasons

Strengthening of flat slabs with reinforced concrete overlay – Analysis and development of the solution

    Get PDF
Strengthening of concrete structures with a new concrete layer has been commonly used for columns, beams and slabs. This technique is economic and efficient for structural strengthening since it uses the same base materials, steel and concrete. It is usually applied on the compressed face of the concrete element due to concrete’s recognized behaviour under compression, posing several challenges to control cracking and resistance when applied on the tensile face. Strengthening of concrete structures with a new concrete layer applied on the tensile face requires controlling the debonding phenomenon of added concrete for service and ultimate limit states. Designing such strengthening solution requires the consideration for the strength of the global structure and the local interface capacity for maintaining structural integrity throughout the load history. Such requirement leads to the need for interface detailing solutions between the two concrete layers that improve the behaviour of the composite section, namely the roughening of the existing surface and stitching reinforcement. The knowledge from studying such interface was applied to the strengthening of slab specimens. This work presents the study performed on concrete unidirectional slab specimens and on columnsupported slab specimens. All specimens were strengthened with a reinforced concrete overlay on the tensile face. The former consisted on the flexural monotonic loading of the specimens until failure, and the latter consisted on specimens loaded monotonically and concentrically until failure. The calibration of numerical models based on experimental test results was also performed with the nonlinear analysis software ATENA 3D®. All results were then compared to current codes and regulations, and some guidelines were defined for the correct application of strengthening with a reinforced concrete overlay on existing structures

Self-decoding FET-hybrid or integrated-circuit tree configuration uses minimum number of components and can be sequenced by clock or computer. Redundancy features can readily be incorporated into tree configuration; as tree grows in size and more sensors are included, percentage of parts that will affect given percentage of sensors steadily decreases
