Prognostic Value and Limits of Heart Rate and QT—Corrected in A Large Population
Background: The study aimed to compare the prognostic importance of the heart rate (HR) and QT—corrected (QTc) according to Fridericia, Framingham, and Bazett with respect to all-cause mortality in a large non-selected population. Methods: The analysis of digital electrocardiograms archived from 2008 to 2022 in the metropolitan area of Modena, Italy, was carried out. The population under study was divided into three groups based on age, and survival analysis was performed. Results: 131,627 patients were enrolled and, during the follow-up (mean 1641.4 days), all-cause mortality was 8.9%. Both HR and QTc were associated with mortality. All-cause mortality significantly increased with HR values greater than 81 BPM and QTc values greater than 440 msec in young subjects and 455 msec in old subjects (values of the 75th percentiles/optimal operating point). A Cox analysis confirmed the better prognostic value of Bazett’s QTc and HR in the whole population and in the three age-groups. Conclusion: Bazett’s method performed better than the others, but, unexpectedly, the HR had the same or an even better correlation with all-cause mortality. Since the HR is simple and readily available, its evaluation should be improved. However, QTC and HR values are difficult to define, causing many confounding factors, and further population studies are required
Potentialities of Usrp-Based Software Defined Radar Systems
International audienceSoftware Defined Radar is the latest trend in radar development. To handle enhanced radar signal processing techniques, advanced radars need to be able of generating various types of waveforms, such as frequency modulated or phase coded, and to perform multiple functions. The adoption of a Software Defined Radio system makes easier all these abilities. In this work, the implementation of a Software Defined Radar system for target tracking using the Universal Software Radio Peripheral platform is discussed. For the first time, an experimental characterization in terms of radar application is performed on the latest Universal Software Radio Peripheral NI2920, demonstrating a strongly improved target resolution with respect to the first generation platform
Patients' preferences for subcutaneous trastuzumab versus conventional intravenous infusion for the adjuvant treatment of HER2-positive early breast cancer: final analysis of 488 patients in the international, randomized, two-cohort PrefHer study
PrefHer revealed compelling and consistent patient preference for subcutaneous (s.c.) trastuzumab, regardless of delivery by single-use injection device or hand-held syringe. s.c. trastuzumab was well-tolerated and safety data, including immunogenicity, were consistent with previous reports. No new safety signals were identified compared with the known intravenous trastuzumab profile in early breast cance
La ricerca empirico-sperimentale educativa e la professionalitĂ del docente per migliorare la scuola inclusiva
The paradigm of the inclusive school is becoming, especially in the European educational research, a fundamental point of reference. In this paper the author analyzes the different didactic models of teacher’s professionalism in the Italian school since the riforma Gentile of 1923 until the contemporary debate concerning the school of the autonomy. In particular, he highlights the importance of the scientific meaning of the teacher’s professionalism which derives from the paradigm of the sciences of education established by John Dewey’s book «The sources of a science of education» of 1929. In the contemporary research it is fundamental, in the school of autonomy, to analyze a teacher’s professionalism based on the last results of educational experimental empirical research. In this perspective the teacher, but also the headmaster, must develop his/her educational action between the governance and didactics in the school of autonomy not only as «an investigator», as Dewey’s theory proposed, but as an expert of a transdisciplinary competence based on the contents of the subject matter, didactics, governance, and some aspects of educational experimental empirical research to improve new possibilities of an inclusive school
Democracy and Education di John Dewey Ricostruire l’educazione per ricostruire la democrazia
In this essay the author tries to read in an analytical way the fundamental John Dewey’s book, Democracy and Education, (1916), one hundred years after its publication. He highlights the centrality of this book in Dewey’s thought. In fact, in Democracy and Education Dewey analyzes the focal meaning of his research: the educational reconstruction as a fundamental presupposition to reconstruct the meaning of the democracy.

In this paper the authors try to focus the linking between the inclusive school and the person’s disability analyzing the body between real and virtual. In fact there it is necessary to consider a new aspect of the educational process in the contemporary school: a digital didactics of the body between the real and the virtual of the person with disability.
