Virtually There: A Phenomenological Study of Secondary Students and Their Engagement with Virtual Reality Field Trips

    Get PDF
The study seeks to inform solution to the lack of student exposure to frequent, culturally enriching field trips in school. To address the concern of limited learning through school field trips, this phenomenological study seeks to explore the lived experiences of virtual reality field trips for secondary students. The study seeks to examine how students respond emotionally, physically, and cognitively to the use of virtual reality within the classroom. Data analysis consists of observing, interviewing, and assessing students as they engage in and complete a virtual reality field trip. The three research domains are transcribed and analyzed to better understand how students respond in a virtual field trip. The results will lead to further studies on the use of virtual reality field trips as a teaching strategy to improve student learning

The child usually acquires their first word at age of one until three years old. Many people believe that behind the child’s success in acquire their first word is his or her mother. But, most people did not know how far does the role of mother to help the child in acquire their first word. The purpose of this study is to know what does the exact role of the mother and also the effect to her child in acquire their first word. This study is uses descriptive qualitative to see how far does the mother’s involvement and also the development of the child in his or her conversation with the mother. after identified the conversation with their mother and classified the age of children by deep observation and method from crystal’s stages of language acquisition, the writer found that the child can develop in acquire new word in behaviour way, the mother then can only provide the support for their child and see the improvement that the child has make. So, in this case the writer concludes that the mother can be describe as LASS (Language Acquisition Support System).           Keywords: Role, First Language Acqusition, Mother, Chil

The effect of short term feeding with organic and conventional diets on selected immune parameters in rat

    Get PDF
There is currently no evidence for beneficial health impacts being associated with the consumption of organic rather than conventional foods. This preliminary study was therefore aimed at using haematological parameters, white blood cell (WBC) number and splenocyte proliferation as sensitive assays to evaluate influence of the organic, low input and conventional components in the diet on rats’ immune system function. The results of a short term feeding trial with two rat generations indicates a potential effect on immune system function, which has to be confirmed by longer-term exposure studies

Pengaruh Model Creative Problem Solving (CPS) Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Matematis Pada Materi Relasi dan Fungsi

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on students' critical thinking skills in the material relations and functions and student responses to the CPS learning model. This research is a quasi-experiment. The results of the study obtained a regression equation Y = 62.1621 + 15.7094X with a coefficient of determination of 23% which indicates that there is a positive influence. The average value of mathematical critical thinking abilities of students who take part in the learning with the CPS model is 77.87, while expository learning is 62.16. Analysis of student responses to the CPS learning model was obtained: (1) 97.3% expressed interest in the CPS learning model and 2.7% expressed no interest; (2) A total of 98.2% stated that there were benefits obtained by students using the CPS learning model and 1.8% stated that there were no benefits obtained; (3) A total of 90.74% stated that there were no obstacles experienced during the learning process using the CPS learning model and 9.26% stated that they experienced problems; (4) 96.22% expect that the CPS learning model is used in the learning process and 3.78% do not expect to be used. So, it was concluded that the student response was very positive towards the CPS learning model because the percentage that stated the agreement was 95.62% greater than the one who expressed disagreement namely 4.38%

Recommendations for Sustaining Sustainability Initiatives in City Government

The report analyzes four U.S. cities' financial conditions and then compares and contrasts their sustainability initiatives and financing mechanisms. Based on the analysis, the report provides recommendations for other green cities that may make their sustainability initiatives more financially sustainable in today's fiscal environment. The report was a service learning project of a MPA class, Resource Allocation and Control, taught by Dr. Alfred T. Ho at the School of Public Affairs and Administration, University of Kansas in spring, 2012

A high low energy in buildings is determined in the potential use of materials. Tile material is potentially made by architects as a sustainable building material. The use of tiles was marginalized by ceramic flooring products produced by large industries. The result of studies on the issue of global warming note that the embodied CO2 from the tile floor is almost seven times more than the embodies CO2 tiles. This result shows that tile products are environmentally sound and sustainable compared to tile floors. In another side, Kendari City is a Coastal City, and there are Kampung KB (Family Planning) that much mothers in this village busy every day with searching metti-metti/kalandue (Anadara grandis). During this time, shell kalandue fisherman catches only utilized meat/adductor muscle, while the shell is removed and uses as waste. In order for the tile to be competitive and interesting to be used as the floor of the house, it is necessary to study to create a tandem-based kalandue. This research is intended to create a tandem-based kalandue that used exploration method. The process of analysis is done qualitatively, so it gets the form of a tile. The shape of the tiles is transformed from the parameters to the resulting tandem-based kalandue shell. This study concluded that kalandue sea shells as eco-friendly floor finish material made, as follows: the working tools used were simple and sufficient. The working materials used are quite available and economical. The making process is done quickly and easily
