Preparation of Amino-Functionalized Graphene Sheets and their Conductive Properties
Amino-functionalized graphene sheets were prepared through chemical reduction by hydrazine hy-drate, amination or amidation of graphite oxide. For amination of graphite oxide were used polyamine such as ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine and triethylenetetramine. Addition of amine groups to graphene is identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, elemental analysis and ther-mogravimetry. Scanning electron microscopy data indicate that the organic amine is not only as nitrogen sources to obtain the nitrogen-doped graphene but also as an important modification to control the assem-bly of graphene sheets in the 3D structures. The electrical conductivity of the materials obtained by amina-tion and amidation of graphene is much smaller than that of reduced graphite oxide.

Magnetooptics in Gold and Silver NanoSizes Low-Dimensional Objects
The spectra of optical absorption and of magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) have been measured in the 350–1150 nm wavelength range for a set of colloidal solutions containing Au and Ag nanoparticles. The average size of Au nanoparticles was 6 nm and having thiolate coatings with different degrees of chirality. (The average size of Ag nanoparticles was 14 nm and having citrate coatings) The form of absorption and MCD spectra suggests the dipole character of interband transitions involving the 5d–6(sp) for Au orbitals and 4d–5(sp) for Ag orbitals. The absence (within the experimental error) of the MCD spectra dependence on the coating type rules out the hypothesis on the orbital nature of the observed magnetism. We argue that the spin polarization plays the dominant role in the magnetism both for Au and Ag nanoparticles.

Carbon Nanomaterial Produced by Microwave Exfoliation of Graphite Oxide
Carbon-based graphene-like material was obtained through microwave stimulated exfoliation of graph-ite oxide (GO). Properties of this material were investigated by multiple techniques including element analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), mass-spectroscopy, infrared (IR) and Raman spectrosco-py, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and broadband dielectric spectroscopy. Specific surface area and volume of microwave exfoliated graphite oxide (MEGO) reached 600 m2/g and 6 cm3/g, respectively. It is shown that during such explosive reduction process the sample emits CO2, CO and H2O and, in some cases, SO2 gases. The resulting reduced material exhibits IR spectra similar to that of graphite and a dc-conductivity of 0.12 S/cm. It is also shown that prolonged storage in ambient conditions leads to elevated oxygen content and decrease of specific surface area of the samples.

Efficient Raman Sideband Generation in a Coherent Atomic Medium
We demonstrate the efficient generation of Raman sidebands in a medium
coherently prepared in a dark state by continuous-wave low-intensity laser
radiation. Our experiment is performed in sodium vapor excited in
configuration on the D line by two laser fields of resonant frequencies
and , and probed by a third field .
First-order sidebands for frequencies , and up to the
third-order sidebands for frequency are observed. The generation
starts at a power as low as 10 microwatt for each input field. Dependencies of
the intensities of both input and generated waves on the frequency difference
(), on the frequency and on the optical
density are investigated.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure
Limits on the monopole magnetic field from measurements of the electric dipole moments of atoms, molecules and the neutron
A radial magnetic field can induce a time invariance violating electric
dipole moment (EDM) in quantum systems. The EDMs of the Tl, Cs, Xe and Hg atoms
and the neutron that are produced by such a field are estimated. The
contributions of such a field to the constants, of the T,P-odd
interactions and are also estimated for the TlF, HgF and YbF molecules (where
() is the electron (nuclear) spin and is the molecular
axis). The best limit on the contact monopole field can be obtained from the
measured value of the Tl EDM. The possibility of such a field being produced
from polarization of the vacuum of electrically charged magnetic monopoles
(dyons) by a Coulomb field is discussed, as well as the limit on these dyons.
An alternative mechanism involves chromomagnetic and chromoelectric fields in
QCD.Comment: Uses RevTex, 16 pages, 4 postscript figures. An explanation of why
there is no orbital contribution to the EDM has been added, and the
presentation has been improved in genera
Measurement of and between 3.12 and 3.72 GeV at the KEDR detector
Using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M collider, we have measured
the values of and at seven points of the center-of-mass
energy between 3.12 and 3.72 GeV. The total achieved accuracy is about or
better than at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of
about . At the moment it is the most accurate measurement of in
this energy range
Correlations in Scale-Free Networks: Tomography and Percolation
We discuss three related models of scale-free networks with the same degree
distribution but different correlation properties. Starting from the
Barabasi-Albert construction based on growth and preferential attachment we
discuss two other networks emerging when randomizing it with respect to links
or nodes. We point out that the Barabasi-Albert model displays dissortative
behavior with respect to the nodes' degrees, while the node-randomized network
shows assortative mixing. These kinds of correlations are visualized by
discussig the shell structure of the networks around their arbitrary node. In
spite of different correlation behavior, all three constructions exhibit
similar percolation properties.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures; added reference
Search for narrow resonances in e+ e- annihilation between 1.85 and 3.1 GeV with the KEDR Detector
We report results of a search for narrow resonances in e+ e- annihilation at
center-of-mass energies between 1.85 and 3.1 GeV performed with the KEDR
detector at the VEPP-4M e+ e- collider. The upper limit on the leptonic width
of a narrow resonance Gamma(R -> ee) Br(R -> hadr) < 120 eV has been obtained
(at 90 % C.L.)
Measurement of \Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi)*Br(J/\psi->e^+e^-) and \Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi)*Br(J/\psi->\mu^+\mu^-)
The products of the electron width of the J/\psi meson and the branching
fraction of its decays to the lepton pairs were measured using data from the
KEDR experiment at the VEPP-4M electron-positron collider. The results are
\Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi)*Br(J/\psi->e^+e^-)=(0.3323\pm0.0064\pm0.0048) keV,
\Gamma_{ee}(J/\psi)*Br(J/\psi->\mu^+\mu^-)=(0.3318\pm0.0052\pm0.0063) keV.
Their combinations
\Gamma_{ee}\times(\Gamma_{ee}+\Gamma_{\mu\mu})/\Gamma=(0.6641\pm0.0082\pm0.0100)
keV,
\Gamma_{ee}/\Gamma_{\mu\mu}=1.002\pm0.021\pm0.013 can be used to improve
theaccuracy of the leptonic and full widths and test leptonic universality.
Assuming e\mu universality and using the world average value of the lepton
branching fraction, we also determine the leptonic \Gamma_{ll}=5.59\pm0.12 keV
and total \Gamma=94.1\pm2.7 keV widths of the J/\psi meson.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure
Measurement of main parameters of the \psi(2S) resonance
A high-precision determination of the main parameters of the \psi(2S)
resonance has been performed with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e^{+}e^{-}
collider in three scans of the \psi(2S) -- \psi(3770) energy range. Fitting the
energy dependence of the multihadron cross section in the vicinity of the
\psi(2S) we obtained the mass value
M = 3686.114 +- 0.007 +- 0.011 ^{+0.002}_{-0.012} MeV and the product of the
electron partial width by the branching fraction into hadrons \Gamma_{ee}*B_{h}
= 2.233 +- 0.015 +- 0.037 +- 0.020 keV.
The third error quoted is an estimate of the model dependence of the result
due to assumptions on the interference effects in the cross section of the
single-photon e^{+}e^{-} annihilation to hadrons explicitly considered in this
work.
Implicitly, the same assumptions were employed to obtain the charmonium
leptonic width and the absolute branching fractions in many experiments.
Using the result presented and the world average values of the electron and
hadron branching fractions, one obtains the electron partial width and the
total width of the \psi(2S):
\Gamma_{ee} =2.282 +- 0.015 +- 0.038 +- 0.021 keV,
\Gamma = 296 +- 2 +- 8 +- 3 keV.
These results are consistent with and more than two times more precise than
any of the previous experiments
