The impact of the financial crisis on inter-bank funding: evidence from Italian balance sheet data
We analyze the impact of the financial crisis on the structure and the dynamics of the Italian inter-bank market, focusing on monthly banksâ assets and liabilities data between January 2007 and December 2010. The analysis is developed using an ad hoc dataset based on supervisory reports. The data contain nominative information, which allow us to identify different reporting entities and counterparts. We distinguish between intra-group and extra-group transactions, domestic and foreign counterparties, secured and unsecured positions, and short and long-term loans. We also analyse the relationships between big, medium and small groups and characterize the direction of funds between the group parent companies and the other banks of the group.interbank market, financial crisis
From positive youth development to youthâs engagement : the dream teens
In addition to the empirical validation of âhealth and happinessâ determinants, theoretical
models suggesting where to ground actions are necessary. In the beginning of the
twentieth century, intervention models focused on evaluation and empirical validation
were only concerned about overt behaviours (verbal and non-verbal) and covert
behaviours (cognitions and emotions). Later on in the middle of the century, there was a
shift from treating the problems to a positive approach, focused on promoting assets and
individual strengths. Thus, the role of social competences, self-regulation and resilience
became salient. Researchers also highlighted the importance of social cohesion and
social support, as active health and wellbeing facilitators. More recently, in the twentyfirst
century, the populationâs engagement (positive engagement) has become crucial.
This paper presents the evolution of this theoretical and scientific path, using Portugal as
a case study, where early interventions focused on the positive aspects of both covert and
overt behaviours, while more recent interventions included explicitly the perspective of
youth engagement and participation, as is the case of the Dream Teens Project. It is
expected that the political and professional understanding of this trajectory will allow
professionals to provide better health and educational services, improving young
peopleâs engagement, quality of life, health and wellbeingpeer-reviewe
The economic and financial situation of Italian non financial corporations: an international comparison
The paper analyses the main differences in the financial structure of Italian and European non financial corporations in the 2004-2007 period, that is during the years before the financial crisis. The research is based on individual balance sheets of Amadeus (Analyse Major Databases from European Sources) database, which allow to isolate the effects of the different sectional and dimensional composition on the differences of the balance sheets ratios and to identify the more fragile firms. Italian non financial corporations present many factors of weakness compared to European ones. Firstly they are characterised by a lower operating income, even if in the period under analysis they obtained a slightly higher increase in turnover. Secondly a high indebtedness, with respect both to turnover and to risk capital, gives rise to a bigger impact of interest payments. Moreover the weight of short-term debt for Italian firms is higher and the availability of liquid assets is lower. Finally the percentage of commercial debt on assets is quite high. Taking all into account, the financial fragility is confirmed by the higher share of Italian firms which are vulnerable compared to European average.profitability, indebtedness, financial structure
Overhauling Indian Intellectual Property Rights Regime With Special Reference To Compulsory Licensing
Intellectual Property Laws should be used as a tool to strike a balance between the interests of the creator or inventor and the interests of the public. However, after becoming a signatory to The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, which demanded a drastic change in the Indian Patent Regime, and subsequently amending the Indian Patents Act, 1970 in accordance with the Agreement, India has rarely used patents as an interventionist tool for ensuring the welfare of its citizens as well as the citizens of its fellow Third-World Countries. This assertion holds much water regarding the issuance of compulsory licenses. Compulsory licenses are licenses given by a government authority to a third party to use intellectual properties including patents, inter alia, to ensure public welfare. They can be used as a crucial interventionist tool. Though there is a necessity for rendering a large number of compulsory licenses, in the Post-TRIPS era, India has issued only one compulsory license, so far. Hence, it becomes essential to diagnose the problem with the Indian Patent Law Regime pertaining to the issuance of compulsory licenses. Amid the pandemic, this diagnosis becomes more crucial.

Impact of floats on water
The impact of a wedge-shaped body on the free surface of a weightless
inviscid incompressible liquid is considered. Both symmetrical and
unsymmetrical entries at constant velocity are dealt with. The differential
problem corresponds to the physico-mathematical model of a distribution of
potential singularities and, in particular, the flow singularities at the ends
of the wetted regions are represented by sinks. A conformal transformation of
the flow field is adopted and the unknown intensities of the discontinuities
are found by an optimization procedure, together with the solution of the
nonlinear free-surface problem. The flow separation at a sideslip is also
considered.Comment: 26 pages, 10 figure
Psychological Impact Of Domestic Violence On Children And Its Link With Further Victimization And Delinquency
Children raised by a single parent are nonetheless vulnerable to a number of serious and growing challenges. Children who grow up in single-parent households are more likely to drop out of school and become addicted to drugs. Single working parents may miss out on parentâchild building since they don't have the time to assist their children. Single-parent children are more likely to have been exposed to a variety of crime-inspiring influences, such as parental conflict and coercion. Single working parents may miss out on parentâchild bonding since they don't have enough time to help their children with the intervention of having only one parent there.
The goal of this research is to examine the psychological effects of domestic violence on children, to comprehend the influence it has on them, and to determine how these implications lead to juvenile delinquency. Domestic violence is a worldwide epidemic that leads to deviant and delinquent conduct in children regardless of region, ethnicity, or socioeconomic class. This research intends to investigate the aforementioned phenomena in order to recognise child victimisation and hence prevent delinquent behaviour in order to avoid confrontation with the law and subsequent criminality
Abortion Questions Answered Differently By Two Common Law Nations: A Comparative Study Of The Abortion Jurisprudence In India And USA
The present study aims to analyze, with the assistance of doctrinal method, the abortion policy of the two common law countries, i.e., USA and India, to identify and examine the points of convergence and divergence. Contrary to the popular presumption that two nations following the same legal tradition would have similar, if not identical, position on most of the matters. This study aims to illustrate how attitude of two nations with same legal tradition may vary depending on a plethora of factors and relate the same to the specific historical event or context that motivated such reformation. Abortion has always been one of the major political, thus very controversial, issue in USA , in the past few decades it has gone under fundamental reformation. Similarly, in India the recent 2021 amendment have brought substantial changes in Indian abortion jurisprudence and reconstructed the same to a towards a more progressive direction.
While acknowledging the distinctions in law and its actual practical application, in the following research paper, the researchers will try to bring out distinctions between the abortion law in USA and India, by first briefly summarizing the said two nation's position on the matter and then undertake a comparative analysis of the two jurisdictions on issues like recognition of abortion as a right, decisional autonomy, mandatory counseling, and waiting period, minor consent, spouse consent, rape and incest exception, etc
Teachersâ voices on social emotional learning : identifying the conditions that make implementation possible
There is increasing evidence that addressing childrenâs social and emotional needs has a positive impact on studentsâ performance, their attitudes about school and the
relationships that take place in educational settings. This study is focused on identifying
the conditions that support teachersâ development and implementation of Social
Emotional Learning (SEL) programs and practices. Using a practitioner-driven
methodology, action research, the staff of a high performing charter school in a
disadvantaged urban community in California (United States) engaged in an inductive
process of reflection and action to address studentsâ social and emotional needs. The
findings in this research highlight the positive impact that implementation of a school designed SEL intervention had on students, and on teachersâ practices. Teachersâ
commitment was necessary to ensure initial engagement, while curricular and
organizational resources were needed to maintain implementation in the long term.peer-reviewe
