Research of zinc concentrate oxidative roasting process

    Get PDF
In this work, the tests on the oxidative roasting process of zinc sulphide and zinc sulphide concentrate were carried. When zinc sulphide ores are used in the proces of obtaining the metalic zinc, then oxidative roasting operation is always a preliminary stage of the basic zinc production process. Both by the hydrometallurgical and by the pyrometallurgical method

    ā€žMoment elegijnyā€ Victora Hugo

This article attempts to define the place of elegiac modality in the literary output of Victor Hugo. The starting point for the discussion and at the same time appropriate interpretative tool is the definition of elegy derived from the writings of German theoreticians of Romanticism: Friedrich Schiller and Friedrich Schlegel. The thing is question is the elegiac attitude based on exposing of what is ideal and lost at the same time. The above, indeed, constitutes an answer to the questions of the experience of crisis so inherent to Romanticism. Analyses of the early poetical volumes written by the author show a particular evolution of Hugoā€™s conception of poetry. Politically committed The Odes, being anti-elegiac by assumption, are discussed, as well as purely poetical Eastern poems overtly promoting limitless freedom which characterizes the creative imagination. The interpretation of individual poems from these volumes proves, however, that one can discern a certain elegiac tone in them, though the tone is never dominant. The volume that distinctively enhances the elegy (thus far discredited by Hugo and from then on permanently occurring in his works) turns out to be Autumn Leaves ā€” a collection of poems of contemplative, melancholic, visionary and self-reflective character

Grammatical redundancy and the process of teaching literary Arabic as a foreign language

    Get PDF
Redundancy in the literary Arabic is particularly significant on the grammatical level. It manifests itself in the omission of a number of morphological and syntactical formants in the spoken language like the indefinite article suffix, case and gender affixes etc. This property of the Arabic language had drawn attention of the earliest Arab philologists as they were working out principles of the so-called waqf, i.e. the syntactic pause. Those principles, however, applied only to the techniques of recitation of poetry and sacred texts as well as oratorical speeches. But the mere fact that the neutralization of some grammatical morphemes was in specific contexts considered permissible is nothing else but a clear signal that these morphemes are to a certain degree redundan

The "Brest Bible" offspring : "Sprawy i słowa Jezusa Krystusa" and "Wtore księgi Łukasza świętego" by Tomasz Falconius

The aim of the article is to present and analyze two sixteenth-century, nontrinitarian publications (The Matters and Words of Jesus Christ and The Second Book of St Luke by Thomas Falconius) which were created in close connection with the Brest Bible in 1566. The first part contains general information about the physical attributes of the works, showing typographical associations with the Brest Bible. Then, I present the workā€™s editorial layout and binding, regarding them as a valuable source of knowledge about Brest as a publishing centre in the sixteenth century. The final part contains an analysis of the most important doctrinal (nontrinitarian) theses posed by Thomas Falconius

Developing Interpretation Training for Modifying Thought-Action-Fusion Associated with Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms

    Get PDF
In obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), obsessions are in part caused by the belief that simply having a thought can increase the chance of an event occurring or represents a personā€™s morality. This phenomenon is Thought-Action-Fusion (TAF) and is common in OCD. Challenging these beliefs through Interpretation Training (IT) has been used in past research to modify negative interpretations, and lessen the distress and grief associated with them. The current study examined whether three sessions of computerized IT, challenging TAF obsessional thoughts, can impact TAF strength and OC symptoms. Thirty-nine non-clinical students were randomized to either: (1) an active condition (TAFMOD), where participants are presented with a sentence reducing the impact of the obsessional thoughts, or (2) a neutral condition (TAFMAN), in which a non-disconfirming sentence is provided. Among the primary outcomes, an interaction of group (TAFMOD vs TAFMAN) by time (pre-training to post-training) was non-significant, but there were significant reductions by time alone in TAF scores, OC symptoms, primary obsessions, and general anxiety and distress. Overall, the findings from the current study do not support a difference between groups as a result of training, but there did appear to be a general reduction of symptoms over time. Results of the study are discussed in terms of the cognitive theory of obsessional thoughts, and future research directions are suggested

    Viskoznost Cu-Zn legura

One of the basic parameters that characterize a liquid phase is its viscosity. In the paper, the results of viscosity measurements for copper, copper-zinc alloys with 5 %wt. Zn and 10 %wt. Zn as well as Cu-Zn alloys with small additions of antimony, selenium and sulfur are presented. The viscosity measurements were conducted by means of a viscometer using the phenomenon of damping rotational vibrations of the crucible by filling the liquid metal. It was observed that the additions of zinc, antimony and selenium resulted in the viscosity reduction while the addition of sulfur led to its increase.

Thermogravimetric (TG) studies of the reaction of lead oxide with lead sulphide

In the paper, results of thermogravimetric study on reaction between lead oxide and lead sulphide, both loose and agglomerated samples. The research results showed that the reaction of lead sulphide with lead oxide is possible at temperatures exceeding 850 oC. Comparing the influence of the reaction temperature on the course of the TG curve and the percentage weight loss of the samples, it was found that the percentage weight loss of the samples increased with the increase of the temperature. This effect was observed both for samples introduced in loose form, as well as for the agglomerated one
