    The application of Halal logistic in Korean Halal industry: a model from Malaysia perspective

    Since the emergence of the “halal” industry, it has influenced the pre-existing industrial structure by inducing global corporations and foreign governments to chase the regulation of “halal” certificate. In accordance with the fundamental notion of the “halal” industry, Majority of works related to “halal” industry must retain “halal” certificate regulated by certification bodies of diverse countries. Countless corporations that have the intention to advance into “halal” market started to dive into building plan of the domestic “halal” industry by complying conditions required by “halal” regulation and “halal” logistics is one of them esteemed to account for crucial status in near future among each section of “halal” industry on the side of conveyance of “halal” products. Nonetheless, it has not been perfectly settled up in the global “halal” industry so far due to underestimation of the importance of “halal” logistics compared with other sections belonged in the “halal” industry. Especially this feature predominantly reveals in Korea because of less “halal” perception of the domestic workers. Korea is one of the nations ached for participating in the “halal” market in the same way as other west unions and Asian countries which are not Islamic nations. Although there is the highlight of the “halal” industry from government and private companies, less infrastructure and information of “halal” industry are still barrier on the position of Korea and aspect of adjusting “halal” compulsory into the domestic industry. Not only them but also the absence of expert are on the issue because of the influx of uncertain notion and technique of “halal” into Korea. Besides “halal” logistics is also clumsy industrial part to Korea and the various environment which is engaged in the logistics industry includes not only technical parts but also policies. So as to contribute to making up of the definite establishment of “halal” logistics for the pre-existing industry of Korean logistics, the criterion of this research is based on MS 2400:2010 and pre-existence manual of Korean logistics industry which is allocated to every single factor consisting of the extant environment of logistics in Korea. Thus, this research denotes veiled factors which are not adjustable to “halal” logistics by analyzing the current status of Korean logistics by adding a comparison between MS 2400: 2010 and present status of domestic logistics

    Fundamentals of tour guide in Muslim Friendly Tourism

    This study aims to explore the concept and characteristics of being a tour guide in Muslim-friendly tourism. The study identifies tour guides need to possess effectively and cater the needs of Muslim travellers and provide them with a positive and inclusive travel experience. The research utilizes a qualitative approach, employing data collection based on secondary resources such as books, journals, and articles. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of tour guides in Muslim-friendly tourism and provide practical recommendations for tour guides to enhance their services for Muslim travellers

    Muslim-friendly hotels are targeted to provide shariah complaint and comfortable rooms especially for the Muslim guests. This is in line with the encouragement of good hospitality in Islam. However, even though there are nearly 3000 hotels in Malaysia, only less than 10% are considered as Muslim friendly. Therefore, this study investigates the elements that constitute a Muslim-friendly hotel. Based on the discovered elements, this study proposes a standard and comprehensive Muslim-friendly hotel audit checklist which is significant as a guidance for players of the industry as well as the relevant authorities such as the government, municipals, religious authority including the certification bodies. The checklist is important to avoid the misconspetion among the consumers

    This study provides the current practices, utilising qualitative data among tourism stakeholders on Muslim Friendly Geotourism (MFGT) in Langkawi UGGp. MFGT has grown as a valuable tourism sector in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries. Langkawi UGGp has a Malay culture, and the majority of the local communities are Muslim. Previous study shows the tourism business has long been part of the so-called ‘unfriendly to Muslim’ faith-based needs. However, the issues were limited of approach related to MFGT concept among tourism stakeholders. Consequently, MFT solves this predicament, allowing more Muslims to participate in geotourism activities without having any issues performing their faith. Besides, findings shows the potential and challenges of MFGT to be implemented in Langkawi UGGp. All tourism stakeholders are positive in their responses and aware on the importance of implementation MFGT for Langkawi UGGp economic development, protection of the environment and participation of local community. Therefore, this study strives to enhancing knowledge in geotourism literature, particularly in the cross-cultural context manner

    Muslim Friendly Tourism (MFT) ecosystem includes the sustainability of economy, health, environment, education, and social culture. While taking account of its benefits, MFT is encompassed in Allah’s reward by safeguarding the Shariah principles due to the personal safety, society, and country. Nevertheless, there are an issue on the lack of sustainable of protection on the public and the individual interest (maslahah). Therefore, this study purposely discus the toyyiban practices in the MFT ecosystem using MS2610:2015 (Muslim Friendly Hospitality Services-Requirements). A qualitative method employed content analysis and was implemented by conducted through literature research. The findings of this study shows that the application of MS2610:2015 will maintain the concept of toyyiban, namely regarding the principle of cleanliness (al-Nazafah) and the principle of safety (al-Salamah). Besides, the aspect of sustainability needs to be emphasized in order to preserve the public and individual interest (maslahah) so that damage can be minimized and prosperity can be embraced. This research, therefore, leads to the general understanding of the protection of social security as part of Khalifah’s roles in order to safeguard human welfare

    Maslahah-Mafsadah concepts emerge in Islamic tourism to promote a particular undertaking to understand the Maqasid Shariah discourse. Scholars’ contribution in this subject is lacking particularly in the determination of challenges in Muslim travel decision-making (MTDM). A decision-making style here refers to the struggle of the Muslim traveler to overcome the obstacles that keep them from God (jihad) by practicing highest moral standards (fasting) and consistently being obedient-servant to what they do when making travel choices. This article aims to determine the Maslahah-Mafsadah concept by integrating it into MTDM. In doing so, this article first presents the philosophy of Maslahah-Mafsadah as well as Maqasid Shariah; secondly, it explores the concept of integration to MTDM on selecting a destination, travel guide, accommodation and halal food; finally, it formulates a standard for it in light of these applications for travelers

    Muslim-friendly ecotourism in halal industry ecosystem : an exploratory study in Karimunjawa

    Muslim friendly tourism (MFT) has been introduced to accommodate the religious tourism that consistent with Islamic teaching. In order to build consumer’s confidence and certainly, the particular standard focusing on MFT (MS2610:2015) was launched in 2015. Responding to the Strategic Roadmap for Development of Islamic Tourism in OIC member Countries (2017), developing sub-niche markets in Islamic tourism sector such as ecotourism activities with halal sensitivity need to be improve on their hospitality of the products and services. However, concerns have been raised on the potential of the Karimunjawa Islands to be assessed and implement as Muslim friendly ecotourism (MFET). Hence, this paper aim to study on MFET based on secondary data, interviews and field observation. The research result shows that knowledge on ecotourism concept was not an issue among informants. However, the level of understanding on MFT is still low. This study conducts a qualitative research with community and physical settings in Karimunjawa Islands. The study subjects consisted travel agent, homestay and fisherman. Data retrieved through interview and participant observation. This should lead to an understanding that implementation of MFT concept is not just to propose the new product and services but, more so, to practice of Shariah compliance in ecotourism ecosystem

    Muslim-Friendly Sustainable Geo-Tourism (MFS-GT): a qualitative study using the grounded theory

    Muslim-Friendly Tourism (MFT) and geo-tourism destination have proliferated without implementing adequate synergies, there by the current research aimed to integrate data on Muslim-Friendly Tourism with sustainability ideas to develop a theory. One of the qualitative designs applied was the grounded theory approach. The Qur’anic verses and Hadith of the prophet dealing with sustainability concerns were analysed. The qualitative analysis of the verses yielded two components constituting a wide conceptual paradigm of Muslim-Friendly Sustainable Geo-Tourism (MFS-GT). These notions contribute to achieving environmental balance and human health development as part of the objectives of Shariah (Maqasid al-Shariah). Religious components (Islamic values, culture and norms, and ethics), and sustainable components (the concept of environment, community participation, and socioeconomic) were investigated under MFS-GT. This study provides insights to MFT stakeholders as practitioners, and it can be strategically applied to incorporate the MFT and geo-tourism destination idea as a tool to safeguard the place’s sustainability

    A systematic review on tourism stakeholders’ roles practices towards sustainable tourism using khalifah perspectives

    Sustainable tourism (ST) in Islam depends on Khalifah (vicegerent) reacting and practicing Islamic law. Much of the focus on tourism has targeted branding and investing in Islamic tourism. Few systematic reviews on the position practices among Khalifah have been conducted. The present article analyses the existing literature on the roles of tourism stakeholders towards ST. A systematic review of the google scholar and Emerald identified 27 related studies, guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta Analyses (PRISMA) review method. A review of these papers emerged in three key themes protecting the environment, promoting community engagement, and preserving the social economic climate. Several recommendations for implementing and integrating Khalifah into sustainable tourism are highlighted and provided for potential scholars’ reference in this report

    Shariah compliant audit checklist for tourism accommodation premises

    The awareness towards Shariah compliant concept to be implementing in Hotel sector has been discussed since 1982. An extensive literature and research described variety of approaches and methods to improve the understanding of the concept. Specifically in many of the hotel operations, one of the prior parts is to provide comfortable and affordable rooms to guests. It’s related to the hospitality in Islam, which give good services to the guest in term of place to stay. However, even though in Malaysia there are nearly 3000 hotels that contribute to almost 200,000 rooms, only less than 10% are considered Islamic rooms. On top of that, the total number of tourist from Islamic countries to Malaysia has increased steadily and is forecast to contribute 181 billion in 2018. Therefore this paper aimed to develop Shariah compliant Audit Checklist System for Tourism Accomodation Premises in Malaysia which comprises of scorecards and guidelines. This Shariah compliant audit system will be used in the hotel industry to rate the room services whether according to the Shariah elements or not. These elements will be listed through scorecard which will be guided through guidelines. The project will be divided into 2 aspects which are intangible and tangible elements such as operation, facilities, services and product. The significant outcomes from this research will be the new Audit Checklist for Shariah Compliant Hospitality in Malaysia particularly in Muslim World which covers not only the Shariah requirement, but also the tourism industry and safety aspects
