Asset Quality Management
The present disclosure relates to a method and system for asset quality management by a financial entity. The system includes a pre-delinquency module and a sloppy payer detection module for efficient management of assets. The pre-delinquency module detects a number of 0 DPD accounts at a point of observation that may roll forward to 30+ DPD accounts in performance window using a validated ML model. The sloppy payer detection module detects a number of 1-29 DPD accounts at the point of observation that may be cured to 0 DPD accounts in performance window. Further, the pre-delinquency module evaluates an “At risk” bad rate while the sloppy payer detection module evaluates a delinquency rate that is further used to prioritize early collection process for the most risky accounts accordingly
Statistical Analysis of the Main Ionospheric Trough Using Swarm in Situ Measurements
A statistical analysis of the topside main ionospheric trough is implemented by using the Swarm constellation in situ plasma density measurements from December 2013 to November 2019. The key features of the main trough, such as the occurrence rate, minimum position, width, and depth, are characterized and quantified. The distribution patterns of these parameters are investigated with respect to magnetic local time, season, longitude, solar activity, and geomagnetic activity levels, respectively. The main results are as follows: (1) The diurnal variation of the trough occurrence rate usually exhibits a primary peak in the early morning, a subsidiary peak in the late evening, and a slight reduction around midnight especially in the Northern Hemisphere. (2) The seasonal variation of the nighttime trough has maximum occurrence rates around equinoxes, higher than those in local winter. (3) The trough distribution has an evident hemispherical asymmetry. It is more pronounced in the Northern Hemisphere during the winter and equinoctial seasons, with its average nighttime occurrence rate being 20â 30% higher than that in the Southern Hemisphere. The trough minimum position and the trough width also exhibit more significant fluctuation in the Northern Hemisphere. (4) The longitudinal pattern of the trough shows clear eastâ west preferences, which has a higher occurrence rate in eastern (western) longitudes around the December (June) solstice. Effects of contusion load on cervical spinal cord:A finite element study
Injury of cervical spine is a common injury of locomotor system usually accompanied by spinal cord injury, however the injury mechanism of contusion load to the spinal cord is not clear. This study aims to investigate its injury mechanism associated with the contusion load, with different extents of spinal cord compression. A finite element model of cervical spinal cord was established and two scenarios of contusion injury loading conditions, i.e. back-to-front and front-to-back loads, were adopted. Four different compression displacements were applied to the middle section of the cervical spinal cord. The distributions of von Mises stress in middle transverse cross section were obtained from the finite element analysis. For the back-to-front loading scenario, the stress concentration was found in the area at and near the central canal and the damage may lead to the central canal syndrome from biomechanical point of view. With the front-to-back load, the maximum von Mises stress located in central canal area of gray matter when subject to 10% compression, whilst it appeared at the anterior horn when the compression increased. For the white matter, the maximum von Mises stress appeared in the area of the anterior funiculus. This leads to complicated symptoms given rise by damage to multiple locations in the cervical spinal cord. The illustrative results demonstrated the need of considering different loading scenarios in understanding the damage mechanisms of the cervical spinal cord, particularly when the loading conditions were given rise by different pathophysiological causes
Complete Genome Sequence of \u3ci\u3eLactobacillus buchneri\u3c/i\u3e NRRL B-30929, a Novel Strain from a Commercial Ethanol Plant
Lactobacillus buchneri strain NRRL B-30929 was a contaminant obtained from a commercial ethanol fermentation. This facultative anaerobe is unique because of its rapid growth on xylose and simultaneous fermentation of xylose and glucose. The strain utilizes a broad range of carbohydrate substrates and possesses a high tolerance to ethanol and other stresses, making it an attractive candidate for bioconversion of biomass substrates to various bioproducts. The genome sequence of NRRL B-30929 will provide insight into the unique properties of this lactic acid bacterium
Targeted PI3K/AKT/mTOR therapy for metastatic carcinomas of the cervix: A phase I clinical experience.
BackgroundActivated PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway frequently occurs in metastatic or recurrent cervical carcinomas. However, the clinical benefits of matched therapy, a therapeutic approach targeting a specific mutational abnormality, have not yet been established.MethodsWe analyzed the outcomes of patients with metastatic or recurrent cervical carcinomas who had a test for PIK3CA mutation and/or PTEN loss/mutation, and received ≥1 phase I therapeutic regimen between January 2006 and June 2013.ResultsPatients with adenocarcinoma had fewer PIK3CA mutations (14%), and survived longer (median, 14.2 months) than those with squamous cell carcinoma (48% and 7.2 months; p = 0.016, and 0.001, respectively). Matched therapy targeting the activated PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway led to a favorable rate of SD ≥ 6 months/CR/PR (53%) and significantly longer progression-free survival (median, 6.0 months) than non-matched therapy (11% and 1.5 months; p = 0.08 and 0.026; respectively). In patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, the presence of PIK3CA mutations was associated with a significantly longer overall survival (median, 9.4 months) than the absence of PIK3CA mutations (median, 4.2 months; p = 0.019).ConclusionsMatched therapy targeting the activated PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway provided meaningful clinical benefits. Thus, further evaluation of PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway targeted therapy is warranted, especially in metastatic or recurrent squamous cell carcinoma
A selective up-sampling method applied upon unbalanced data for flare prediction: potential to improve model performance
The Spaceweather HMI Active Region Patch (SHARP) parameters have been widely used to develop flare prediction models. The relatively small number of strong-flare events leads to an unbalanced dataset that prediction models can be sensitive to the unbalanced data and might lead to bias and limited performance. In this study, we adopted the logistic regression algorithm to develop a flare prediction model for the next 48 h based on the SHARP parameters. The model was trained with five different inputs. The first input was the original unbalanced dataset; the second and third inputs were obtained by using two widely used sampling methods from the original dataset, while the fourth input was the original dataset but accompanied by a weighted classifier. Based on the distribution properties of strong-flare occurrences related to SHARP parameters, we established a new selective up-sampling method and applied it to the mixed-up region (referred to as the confusing distribution areas consisting of both the strong-flare events and non-strong-flare events) to pick up the flare-related samples and add small random values to them and finally create a large number of flare-related samples that are very close to the ground truth. Thus, we obtained the fifth balanced dataset aiming to 1) promote the forecast capability in the mixed-up region and 2) increase the robustness of the model. We compared the model performance and found that the selective up-sampling method has potential to improve the model performance in strong-flare prediction with its F1 score reaching 0.5501 ± 0.1200, which is approximately 22% − 33% higher than other imbalance mitigation schemes
