Identification of 27 abnormalities from multi-lead ECG signals: An ensembled Se-ResNet framework with Sign Loss function

Cardiovascular disease is a major threat to health and one of the primary causes of death globally. The 12-lead ECG is a cheap and commonly accessible tool to identify cardiac abnormalities. Early and accurate diagnosis will allow early treatment and intervention to prevent severe complications of cardiovascular disease. In the PhysioNet/Computing in Cardiology Challenge 2020, our objective is to develop an algorithm that automatically identifies 27 ECG abnormalities from 12-lead ECG recordings

Dietary Diversity and Nutrient Intake of Han and Dongxiang Smallholder Farmers in Poverty Areas of Northwest China

This study aimed to evaluate the status of dietary diversity and nutrient intake among Han and Dongxiang smallholder farmers in poor rural areas of northwest China. In this cross-sectional study, dietary intake was assessed in 499 smallholder farmers aged 18–75 years from two nationally designated impoverished counties in Gansu Province, China, using three consecutive 24 h dietary recalls. The dietary diversity score (DDS) and nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) were adopted to assess dietary diversity and micronutrient adequacy, respectively. The mean DDS (range from 1 to 9) in participants was relatively low (3.81 ± 1.01). Consumption of grains was excessive, while consumption of vegetables, fruits, meat, beans, eggs, fish, and dairy was inadequate. The NAR values were higher in Han Chinese, with the exceptions of vitamin C, potassium, pyridoxine, and selenium (p \u3c 0.05). For each nutrient, the high DDS group had a higher mean NAR (p \u3c 0.05), except for pyridoxine. High household monthly income, being Han Chinese, high DDS, and being aged over 45 years were positively associated with mean adequacy ratio (MAR) of 14 micronutrients evaluated. Lack of dietary diversity and insufficient intake of essential micronutrients are public health concerns in northwest China. Nutrition education and other proper methods to address these issues are needed

Function of TRP channels in monocytes/macrophages

    Get PDF
The transient receptor potential channel (TRP channel) family is a kind of non- specific cation channel widely distributed in various tissues and organs of the human body, including the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, immune system, etc. It has been reported that various TRP channels are expressed in mammalian macrophages. TRP channels may be involved in various signaling pathways in the development of various systemic diseases through changes in intracellular concentrations of cations such as calcium and magnesium. These TRP channels may also intermingle with macrophage activation signals to jointly regulate the occurrence and development of diseases. Here, we summarize recent findings on the expression and function of TRP channels in macrophages and discuss their role as modulators of macrophage activation and function. As research on TRP channels in health and disease progresses, it is anticipated that positive or negative modulators of TRP channels for treating specific diseases may be promising therapeutic options for the prevention and/or treatment of disease

Fracture Mechanism of Crack-Containing Strata under Combined Static and Harmonic Dynamic Loads Based on Extended Finite Elements

    No full text
Based on the existing research results, a theoretical fracture model of strata under the compound impact of static and harmonic dynamic load is improved, and the fracture characteristic parameters (stress intensity factor, T-stress, and fracture initiation angle) under the two far-field stress are determined according to the crack dip angle. Additionally, the effects of harmonic dynamic load on the distribution of the stress field and the fracture characteristic (the crack initiation angle, the fracture degree, the number of fracture units, and the fracture area) are further calculated and discussed by theoretical model solution, extended finite element simulation, and the secondary development of the simulation module, respectively. The research results show that the far-field stress, stress intensity factor, and T-stress vary in harmonic form with time under the compound impact of static and harmonic dynamic loads. The frequency of dynamic load affects the number of reciprocal fluctuations of stress intensity factor and T-stress as well as the crack initiation time, but has less influence on the crack initiation angle and fracture degree. While the amplitude of dynamic load affects the stress intensity factor, the extreme value of T-stress and fracture characteristics of the crack. This study has theoretical guiding significance for parameters’ optimization and realization of resonance impact drilling technology

This paper examines the linkage between Chinese stock market volatility and investor attention fluctuation. In Heterogeneous autoregressive (HAR) model, first, we analyzed the linkage between both decomposed and undecomposed stock market realized volatility and investor attention fluctuations across full-sample and two-year moving window sub-samples. Second, we compare the predictive power of four models in short-, medium-, and long-term volatility forecasting. Empirical results show large positive attention fluctuation amplified Chinese stock market volatility after the outbreak of COVID-19, and negative small attention fluctuation significantly stabilized stock market volatility before COVID-19, and the impact dwindled in after COVID-19. The model incorporating decomposed realized volatility and decomposed attention fluctuation performs better in volatility Forecasting. This research underscores a shift in the dynamics between stock market volatility and investor attention fluctuations, and investor attention fluctuation improves the volatility forecasting accuracy of the Chinese stock market.</div
