Vedere lontano, oltre le macerie del muro. Intervista ad Anna Chiarloni - Look Forward, Beyond the Ruins of the Berlin Wall. An Interview with Anna Chiarloni

    No full text
Anna Chiarloni, Professor Emeritus of German Literature at the University of Turin, talks about the collection of personal papers she recently donated to the university’s Archivio Storico. She describes the corpus – mainly her correspondence with East and West German writers – and uses it as the basis to reflect on Germany’s complex evolution from the Seventies until its reunification after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Deeply involved in the literary debate in the DDR throughout her academic career, Chiarloni, thanks to her direct relationship with key figures on the country’s cultural scene – Volker Braun, Heinz Czechowski, Heiner Müller and Christa Wolf – had the opportunity to document Die Wende (the period of political change after the fall of the wall) from the viewpoint of the intellectuals, anxious witnesses of the DDR’s social and economic ruin, who faced an uncertain future in reunified Germany

Revision of the Euagathis species (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Bassinae) from the Sunda Islands

The species of the genus Euagathis Szépligeti, 1900 (Braconidae: Bassinae (= Agathidinae)) from the Greater and Lesser Sunda Islands (including West Malaysia) are revised and keyed. The subfamily name Bassinae Nees, 1812, is used because it is senior to the commonly used subfamily name Agathidinae Nees, 1814. Twenty-two species are recognized, of which nine are new. The genus Holcotroticus Cameron, 1902, is synonymized with Euagathis Szepligeti, 1900, and Euagathis ruficollis (Cameron, 1902) is a new combination. The following species are synonymized: Euagathis pilosa Szépligeti, 1902, and E. creophora Cameron, 1905, with E. clathrata (Brullé, 1846); E. rufonigra Enderlein, 1920, with E. ruficollis (Cameron, 1902); Euagathis variabilis Enderlein, 1920, Euagathis v. var. tibialis Enderlein, 1920, E. v. var. melanopleura Enderlein, 1920, E. v. var. melanogaster Enderlein, 1920, E. v. var. tonkinensis Enderlein, 1920, and E. bipunctata

Revision of the West Palaearctic species of the genus Bassus Fabricius (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

The West Palaearctic species of the genus Bassus Fabricius, 1804 (Braconidae: Agathidinae) are revised and keyed, together with the similar Agathis mediator group. Twenty-two species of Bassus and four species of the Agathis mediator group are recognized, of which three are new: B. barbieri from Algeria, B. epinotiae from Great Britain, and B. graecus from Greece. Seven species are synonymized: Microdus lugubrator Ratzeburg, 1852 with B. mediator (Nees, 1814), Microdus punctatus Abdinbekova, 1975 with B. rugulosus (Nees, 1834), Microdus annae Enderlein, 1908, Microdus victoris Telenga, 1955, and M. anuphrievi Tobias, 1986 with B. tumidulus (Nees, 1814), Microdus rufiventris Abdinbekova, 1975 with B. nugax (Reinhard, 1867), and Agathis minuta Niezabitowski, 1910, with Cenostomus lugubris Foerster, 1862. Three genera are synonymized with Bassus: Camptothlipsis Enderlein, 1920, Hormagathis Brues, 1926 and Obesomicrodus Papp, 1971. Lectoty

Notes on the genus Mama Belokobylskij (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Euphorinae), and on the use of monotype taxa

The genus Mama Belokobylskij, 2000 (Braconidae; Euphorinae) is re-assessed and the type species is compared with three similar species: Microctonus cephalicus Provancher, 1886, Microctonus reclinator Ruthe, 1856, and Euphorus spiniscapus Muesebeck, 1936. The results are discussed in relation to the use of taxa based on one specimen (“monotype taxa”). Problems concerning our knowledge of important groups of Euphorinae are outlined. The context of the peculiarly tangled taxonomical situation, which this paper deals with, is considered to be widespread in parasitoid taxonomy, and should be borne in

Electrical Energy Production from Coal: Technical and Economic Performances during the Last Twenty Years

    No full text
During the last twenty years (2000 - 2020) coal was the first fuel for electrical energy production. Even if the global production is decreasing, it has still the highest share in the world energy mix. The paper presents an analysis of the last twenty years of coal production, it analyses the technical indicators (i.e., capacity factor, energy efficiency and emissions) as well as the levelized cost of energy. The presented analysis is based on data publicly available, summing up the actual working conditions of the coal power plants. Main outcomes highlight that actual indicators are significantly lower than rated values; this is mainly due to market conditions that are often unfavorable for production from coal. Finally, the results can be used for adjusting the most recent energy policies, that are going to face new market conditions because of force maj eure events (i.e., Ukraine crisis) as well as decarbonization processes, already developed in many European countries

Kinematic Analysis of the Upper Limb Motor Strategies in Stroke Patients as a Tool towards Advanced Neurorehabilitation Strategies: A Preliminary Study

Advanced rehabilitation strategies of the upper limb in stroke patients focus on the recovery of the most important daily activities. In this study we analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively the motor strategies employed by stroke patients when reaching and drinking from a glass. We enrolled 6 hemiparetic poststroke patients and 6 healthy subjects. Motion analysis of the task proposed (reaching for the glass, bringing it to the mouth, and putting it back on the table) with the affected limb was performed. Clinical assessment using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment for Upper Extremity was also included. During the reaching for the glass the patients showed a reduced arm elongation and trunk axial rotation due to motor deficit. For this reason, as observed, they carried out compensatory strategies which included trunk forward displacement and head movements. These preliminary data should be considered to address rehabilitation treatment. Moreover, the kinematic analysis protocol developed might represent an outcome measure of upper limb rehabilitation processes
